Canadians Against Suicide Bombing. And don't miss the theme song!
It’ll never get off the ground; doesn’t suck enough.
Posted by: Bernie at June 25, 2008 11:49 PMIt lacks cultural awareness and seems very judgmental. I for one think it's going to blow up in their faces.
Posted by: Drained Brain at June 25, 2008 11:51 PMBoy, am I ever relieved the Senate thought of this! Now we will never have a 911 in Canada because it is against the law!!!
Liberalism is truly a mental illness.
Posted by: Gypsy at June 26, 2008 12:01 AMoh come on... the stupid meter is pegged here.
this can't be a serious endeavor.
what next? the purchase of cheating spouses offsets?
This is funnier than the tax dollars going to the banana over Texas.
Posted by: Don I. Hole at June 26, 2008 12:34 AMThis reminds me of when the feminists in Canada launched a "Decade to End Violence". Hey, there is still violence ... perhaps we need a group hug ... yah that would do it.
Maybe if we sent these angry Muslims some flowers they would stop calling us Kaffirs and then we could drink a coke together and the world would live in harmony. Yah ... that would do it.
Or maybe we need to wake up to the fact that there is a dangerous supremacist movement within Islam that is based on vile sayings in the Koran, Hadith and Suri?
Nah ... maybe a join hockey game where Osama Bin Laden can send his guys and we can send our guys. After the game we'd have a few cold ones and then we'd be best buds ... yah, that might work.
Can I get a government grant to promote my ideas? A really big one!
Posted by: Jill Jones at June 26, 2008 12:46 AMJill, I hope it's the medicinal sh*t your using?
A grant may be a little harder to get today: nasty hateful conservatives in office.
Reminds me of the "Nuclear Free Zone" signs on the Burnaby borders back in the 80s. Well, they worked, didn't they?
Making suicide bombing illegal is the same as banning handguns in Toronto.
I has loony left written all over it.
Posted by: John V at June 26, 2008 2:11 AMThis from a Senator who's fellow party members marched and protested with the Hamas. First the spanking law and now this. You would think this would add a little more fuel to the fire for a elected Senate. One thing though Kate you have the style pegged.
Posted by: Archie at June 26, 2008 2:49 AMI listened to the theme song and was very tempted to blow myself up.
Posted by: Largs at June 26, 2008 4:39 AMI think the waiting virgins is Koran policy.

one shouldnt be a critic of the book.
You mean it isnt illegal already?
Better go out and enjoy your freedom to suicide bomb before they shut it down.

Posted by: Stephen at June 26, 2008 10:52 AMThis is a Liberal Senate's ploy to endear itself to Conservatives who hate it. It is their attempt to convey an "UnLiberal" approach and show everyone just how needed they are.
Unfortunately for them...the move is stupid and hollow...it has gone a long way in progressing the beliefs that they are trying to suppress, vis-a-vis, that they are as useful as a tit on a bull.
Posted by: northbaytrapper at June 26, 2008 11:04 AMFirst off, IANAL. But, I'm not quite sure this is a bad idea. This explicitly defines suicide bombing as a terrorist activity involving the bomber, the supporting elements, and those who encourage it. Is this closing any sort of legal loophole? Does it mean that socio/religious/political leader Bloggins, regardless of his leanings, can be prosecuted for "conspiracy to commit"? Would it be possible to get a prosecution from this?
Is there a lawyer in the house?
Posted by: JCP at June 26, 2008 11:35 AMI have never felt a need to add my support to the blatantly obvious.
I eagerly await the Canadians FOR Suicide Bombings website. THAT supporters list I want to read!
Posted by: AtlanticJim at June 26, 2008 11:42 AM"Support Prominent Canadians"
Come on everybody , "Prominent Canadians" need our help!
Could these idiots please stand on a higher pedestal.
Posted by: richfisher at June 26, 2008 2:17 PMWhat about the case for Near-Suicide Bombings that only maim the bomber? You would have to prove intent to commit suicide on the bombers part. Maybe the bomber mistimed the detonation and intended to be home in time for supper. I can see the RCMP, all giggly and perky because they get to Taser a terrorist "organizer", having to let the guy go because of a technicality, "See, Mr. Police Officer, it says right here in the manual to let go of the bomb and run. We are not responsible for the suicide."
Posted by: Fred R. at June 26, 2008 4:51 PMbreak me up before you go go. a catchy tune without the bomb

It assumes there are Canadians FOR Suicide bombings...
but they wouldn't be around long...
There is so many avenues to make fun of this law I don't know where to begin. When a suicide bomber survives sans a right hand how will he swear on the bible? If all that's left is his head and torso will new prisons be built for them? If he's dead, which most are, will they try his/her ashes in court? Do they keep the urn for life?
This story screams for a link to Achmed the Dead Terrorist singing Jingle Bomb.
