Do You Tink It's IZzy To Make A Green Shift?

I continue to endorse Stephane Dion's carbony green tax grab plan.

Boy am I ever glad I’m not Stephane Dion today. [...]

“Just one moment please” said the polite woman who answered the phone, in response to my inquiry. Seconds later, another person picked up the phone. I repeated that I was inquiring about ‘the green shift’ and was asked “Are you calling about us or about the federal Liberal campaign?” I could tell this person was not happy.

[...]

The answer came just as I finished stating the purpose of my call. There was no relationship, and the person I was speaking with, while very polite, was absolutely furious that this has happened. It was suggested to me that Green Shift has lost both new business and existing clients since Thursday who have been frightened off at the perception of a relationship between them and the federal Liberal Party. You can’t blame businesses for not wanting to do business with anyone affiliated with a political party, but unfortunately, this is not the case with Green Shift are they are being unfairly punished as a result of the Liberal Party’s actions.

I was told that Green Shift has worked extremely hard for 10 years to become one of the most successful vendors of green services and products only to be faced with the reality that all this work may be wiped out in a matter of days. I was told that Green Shift did a brief interview with CTV late last week but tried to keep it low key as they had not yet decided upon what the official response be. It seems today that along with a press release, a Cease and Desist notice will be issued..

More on LIberal shiftiness from Stephen Taylor...

I'm not really big on suing people, but if "Green Shift" (TM) were my business, I'd now be speaking with both lawyers and venture capitalists...

I'm sure the folks at greenshift.com, a publicly traded firm [GERS] isn't too thrilled either. Dion will have an American finger a little upset with his gnarly ambition's "finger in the eye" treatment.

Don't they have some lawyer types to look into this stuff first!

Oh, it's hilarious. Only the Liberals could do such a thing.

Here they are, trying to switch the location of 'corruption' from themselves, The Corrupt Liberals, to Canadian industries, which they define as 'Polluters who treat our environment as a garbage dump' (see their summary in their document)..and they've stolen the trademark of a registered Canadian company.

Never mind that their document is itself filled with dishonesty and open manipulation of numbers, percentages and predictions..eg, 'this approach will dramatically improve the environment'. How? There's nothing in it about new technology or enabling firms to install new technology.

It's just a money scam. Oh, and a trademark scam.
Only the Liberals, who live in the utopian intellectual and civil service isolation of Ottawa-Montreal and haven't a clue about reality.

1. Go to the Canadian Trade-marks Database here:

2. Type "Green Shift" into the first field.

3. Hit "Search".

I posted this at "crux of the matter", I called them at about 11:00 Eastern Time.

I just called them (416-925-9665) , a very professional (young?) lady answered the phone. I mentioned to her what I have been hearing, and asked her simply right away if they were affiliated with the Liberal party, she almost "knee-jerk" shot back by saying "NO". She mentioned that they are dealing with them on the issue. Seems like a no issue to me, Liberals should "cease and dismantle" before this thing grows. I made it clear that I was an engineer who was interested in possobily doing business with them, which I am, but wanted to make sure they have no political affiliation. I honestly don't care what party someone belongs to, but when your company starts supporting getting involved in some policitical plan, I don't have the stomach for that..................THIS IS NOT THE CASE WITH THEM AT ALL. To be honest, she seemed annoyed with whole situation, I am sure I was not the only one calling about this. lol. Good luck to their company, I would sue the Liberals pants off if they copyrighted something of mine and didn't stop right away and give some practical compensation. I would do the same for the CONS or NDP, this is a non-political issue, companies get ruined for people not doing their homework.

So............Stephan Dion, if you are reading this "cease and dismantle"

No it couldn't be Jason Cherniak, he's to much of a idiot. It had to be Garth Turner, he been yapping about this plan for months. The laws pertain to everyone else except Garth Turner. It will be interesting to see who takes the fall for this one. If they are ever sued for this copyright infringement, you can say this plan just did the fast spin down the shifter.

The copyrighted owners of 'Green Shift' will have to make an issue of this and sue to get the publicity they need to disassociate themselves with the LPC.
If they don't, they're going to lose business and credibility.

Dion has no more than 7 months to live on this. This is why he is rolling the dice now.

Election will happen no later than October 19 2009 by legislation.

If Dion goes they'll need the sumer of 2009 to heal wounds, prepare for election and intro leader around...traditional summer BBQ season.

This means Lib leadership convention no later than June of 2009.

Campaign for leadership will need to be AT LEAST 4 months long....which means Dion has till early February AT THE LATEST to step down. Any later and the Libs are running with him.

So that means 7 months maximum. The danger for the Cons is the Liberals will pull the switcheroo at exactly that moment and the Libs will have the new leader Rae or Iggy going into the election.

Fixed election dates are the STOOOPIDEST thing Harper ever did. It means, in a minority all of the power and none of the discipline is on the opposition side.

Harper needs to engineer his own defeat this fall...any later and he is either facing a resurgent Dion, unlikely, or a Liberal leader fresh from a convention that will be engineered to prevent what just happened.

A fall election so we can get a con majority. Need to do it before Dion injures hiself so far that he resigns.

Posted by: Stephen at June 23, 2008 4:41 PM

Re: Posted by: Stephen at June 23, 2008 4:41 PM
............

Regardless of Dion's fate, the Liberals are SOL on leadership.

If Liberals attempt to precipitate an election after the Fall'08 Throne Speech, the BQ or NDP might hold off voting no confidence and push any election into the dead of Winter .. when Dion will have to 'sell' Canadians on carbon-taxed home heating fuel oil and natural gas. Good luck ...LOL

If the Harper government is finally defeated in Spring'09, Canadians may turn against the opposition parties for not waiting until scheduled October 19th. The opposition had better have overwhelming cause for defeating the government and a premature election, or else they will be whacked by angry Canadians.

When you think of it, it may not matter when the Liberals have their election or new leader because they have urban strongholds that will forever support them even if they ran Bernardo as a candidate .. like in Toronto..!!!

Oh, wait, Harris Decima poll says if carbon tax explained well, if Tories agree to say nothing whatsoever, but then decide to campaign on this one issue only, if warnings of Liberals like John Manley of distorting tax effects of his policy are ignored/wrong, if Canadians can actually understand Dion sales job, if we don't have economic slowdown, if no other issues come up, if fuel riots in Europe and Asia stop, if only voters from Toronto turn out ... if.

Another fantasy poll, brought to you by our illustrious MSM. Truth be told, highly unlikely to play out that way. No money to sell plan, no leader for Canadians to identify with, no chance Tories won't offer rebuttal. More likely result is poor selling job, Harper creams Dion in debate now or during election, after Harper tweaks his own plan, the one that deals with real pollution, not those corrupt industries spewing CO2, and tells industry and government they will all have to work together to develop clean fuel technology.

Maybe Harris Decima could do that poll, or even an honest one where they ask voters who they would support in general election. What's with these fantasy/theoretical/second choice crap polls that tell us nothing of real value.

The only risk that Harper runs is that the public actually feels sorry for Dion and stays home (ie Harper overplays his hand on attacking policy), except the big city voters who turn out for taxation and revenue neutral largesse. Fat chance, won't happen, IMO.

"Liberals 'Green shift' brand hits a snag
BILL CURRY
From Tuesday's Globe and Mail
June 23, 2008 at 7:53 PM EDT

OTTAWA — Stéphane Dion's cross-country tour promoting his “green shift” hit a potentially embarrassing pothole Monday as a Toronto environmentalist took legal action over what she describes as “blatantly unethical” trademark infringement.

A firm already operating as Green Shift sent a cease and desist letter Monday afternoon to the Liberal Party and the company is considering whether to sue for damages.

Jennifer Wright, who has been running the small but successful environmental consulting company for nearly 10 years, said she was heading out to a Dave Matthews concert last week when a call came in from the House of Commons.

She grabbed the phone because her company has a contract with the Parliament Hill cafeterias, providing them with products such as recycled coffee cups."

it *almost* makes me wonder...
if the Liberal Party is willing to do this to a company plainly seen as being a supporter of a green initiative, what would they do to a non-green initiative?

what would they do, if given the power to do so again, to the energy rich west, to the auto sector, to the industrial sector, in the name of Kyoto, to appease the greens in their own party?

lately I've caught myself wishing for a Liberal majority in parliament, knowing these idiots will drop the ball so firmly and then they'll bring in some draconian program like this National Energy Program 2... and I wish this upon us, so the west will rise in indignation, and separate. For real.

then, after we impose visa restrictions on them, they can freeze in the dark.

Shift da green from sheeples wallets to the big banks for [safe?] keeping.

Banks are so happy to get fresh cash to cover BIG card fraud and sub-prime losses they promise Dion, Rae and Iggy lotsa election financing.

Dion could be knee deep in green shift if voters ever wake up to green scheme.

Not likely, so lately Dion is all smiles.
