Is there nothing that Obama can't do?
Obama oversees a team of 700 people--more than twice as many as Bush in 2004--the biggest, most bloated campaign in the history of presidential elections...
And another good point for Mccain to bring up during debates.
Debates that don't have teleprompters.
Posted by: allan at June 11, 2008 3:22 AMInteresting point about the fund raising. The headline to the article in the NP this morning reads "Democratic fundraising climbs 24%". The sub-head reads "Republicans down 11%". You have to get into the actual article (reported by Agence France-Presse) before you realize that the headings are misleading. The Republicans actually raised about $13 million more than the Democrats in the same 4-month period from Jan 1, 2008 to April 30, 2008.

The Marshall Institute observes, however, that the lowering of GHG emissions to 20 per cent of a nation's 1990 level "might not be enough" to stabilize CO{-2} emissions worldwide. Therefore, it says, Americans - "and everyone else in the world" - could be required to reduce emissions to 20 per cent of 1990 global emissions. Since global emissions were 21,394.92 million tonnes in 1990, and using a world population of 3.6 billion people, as the institute does, it could thus be deemed necessary to reduce emissions globally to 0.119 tonnes (262.35 pounds) per person.
This is equal to 1 per cent of average current per capita emissions in the United States.
We're no longer discussing a carbon tax of a few cents - or a few dollars - here and there in selected countries. We're necessarily contemplating radical, authoritarian controls.
We're discussing energy rations and population control - positions already endorsed by the Sierra Club and by the U.S. National Wildlife Federation. (British researcher Andrew Ferguson, incidentally, puts the maximum sustainable global population at two billion.)
The Marshall Institute assesses the prospects for coercion succinctly: "If we wish to reduce CO{-2} emissions to 80 per cent below 1990 levels, we are faced with three alternatives:
(1) radically restrict our energy use, most likely through strict rationing;
(2) reduce our population by two-thirds; or (3) invent low-carbon sources of energy such as geothermal, tidal and nuclear power.
"The third option is the only one which does not require a culture and economy more rigorously policed than those of the centralized command systems of the old Soviet Union and People's Republic of China.
"In short, technology is the only feasible and humane means to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and maintain an acceptable standard of living."
I still get the feeling if a white one term senator named Bill Smith ran for the nomination, he would have been out eons ago.

The Unabomber had a severe Communications problem.. but he wasn't stupid. Technology & Humanity are not compatible.
For every advance in technology there is an equal and opposite affect to human resources.
What are we going to do with all that free time?

the important thing is taht only check who pay funding an support and send chequeesss to Obama
and who send for McCain and support them financialy
those group or individual are the boss of obama and boss of McCain
they only are spoksman toy in hand of their bosses
unless this year politician change old culture of american dream
and pay and listen to pain of American and what cause otehr countreis not liek usa and what they like about usa and reduce thier hate agaisnt them and increase favor toward them
may be this strategy can save US and save teh war get stop soon
us are not complete still need help from other countries therefore use this link withe others not fight to get to people like them
made fair trade not try to be top in made otehrs hungry this hunger later hit thier national security USA need to balanve their weakness with thier strangth and who can help them not only stick to ISreal
first they need to hwo tot alk to middle east though or chinnese
US govermetn talk bullying way with other countires and we are the best while they are not
To be fair, for May and April, Democrats didn't know who their nominee would be. With the resolution, I think that fund raising will pick up.
Posted by: Half Canadian at June 11, 2008 2:26 PMOBama won the campign fair and square!! Hillary would have won hadn't it been for the "Bill and Monica" incident. There were too many "stains" in her past, too many skeletons under the desk. The Clintons can now relax-Bill can smoke a cigar while Hillary licks her wounds. I don't even want to imagine McCain winning the election, cause "t'ain't" worth the effort, and "t'ain't gonna happen. And "taint" is what the Americans don't want.
