Is there nothing that Obama can't do?

Posted by: cal2 at June 6, 2008 9:18 AMObama will never win the presidency. On election day McCain will win by a large, large margin and this entire Obama thing will blow away in the wind. All of our concerns about him these past years will be for naught.....I still believe in the intelligence of the American people....after all if the USA makes a wide left turn, what hope is there for any country?
Posted by: Mike L. at June 6, 2008 10:01 AMOh YES Obamasia, heal us, PLEASE!
and the waters rushed back over the conservatives and they met the doom of the grave.
Why do I get the feeling that I'm listening to the Valedictorian at a a highschool pep rally every time I see one of these Obamarama speeches??
Can this platitude dispenser win?
Well ... Jimmy Carter ... Bill Clinton times two.
I'd say so.
Big trouble ahead for everyone.
Commenter bearbee at Althouse mentioned: "Obama's economic advisor (is/was?) Austan Goolsbee".
Go to the article below for Obama's other mentor/advisor; other than the Rev. Joshua "God Damn America" Wright.
His name: Roberto Mangabeira Unger, Harvard egghead, leftist.
"If he {Unger] returns to the United States, it could be under the administration of a former "terrific" student named Obama, with whom he's "kept in touch." (ibid)
What is the heretofore hidden goal/aim of Obama's campaign?
It is a socialist revolution/coup by stealth.

If you dont like Obama that's fair but with the way America is going right now how can a different approach be not worth looking at?
Can Obama change anything? I dont know for sure but Mac or Hillary are for sure just more of the same.
The Americans need a big flush in DC as with the way things are now nothing gets done.
To do the same thing over and over (you know the rest)=insane
I really think they need to overhaul their lobbying laws and go from there.
I don't think there is anything Obama CAN do. My personal feeling is that he will go down to the biggest democratic defeat ever. Black man Collin Powell I would vote for, the inadequate black man Barak Obama, as Harriet Christian described him, I would not. With his roots in a white hating black church who would? Only liberal sheep would follow this judas goat of false hope, he’s all mouth and no meat.

I always wish this had more publicity. I get pretty ticked when poor old Canute is made to look like an idiot.
Posted by: John B at June 6, 2008 11:08 AMI agree with Mark Steyn's opinions in the Hugh Hewitt link that Kate provided, that it's the media that is in love with Obama more than anyone.
Even many of the Dems express concern and distrust about him, if you look at the result of the primaries since Feb.
I also think that the MSM will continue to gush over him through the election campaign, and this may put him over the top.
If that happens, the US will get the most socialist liberal president they have ever had, and they will very soon regret it, as will much of the free world.

I disliked Obama from the start for several reasons based not on his skin colour (which he always brings up) but on the content of his character.
Unlike Tiger Woods, Obama disowns his white background by declaring himself a black man. Tiger Woods never considered himself a negroid because of his mother. Obama's obsession with race scares me since he is NOT colour blind. There are black governors in the US (including the governor of Louisiana) so to the majority of Americans colour is not an issue. To Obama it is.
Obama just recently said that his father was there when Auschwitz was liberated. Unfortunately for him it was liberated by the Russians. Maybe this accounts for his socialist thinking. Maybe he will say anything to get elected - just like other politicians.
He is a poor actor. The lies he says are so easily seen. His distancing himself from his pastor after for his own advancement, his associations with shady developers in Chicago will prove him a poor judge of character.
His socialist ideas scare me. Where are we going to send Canadians if he socializes their health care system and we are all in the same boat?
He is a corrupt politician from the Chicago school of politicians selected by Oprah and blown up as a messiah by the media and the loony left.
I think his wife will rub everyone the wrong way.
Posted by: bob at June 6, 2008 11:59 AMI've always thought that a man's downfall starts when you start to believe your own press. Obama's had really wacky press. He seems to have internalized it.
Posted by: Warwick at June 6, 2008 12:14 PMIs this the song the Democrats plan to play at his coronation?
HE (CAN TURN THE TIDE)
He can turn the tides and calm the angry sea
He alone decides who writes a symphony
He lights every star that makes our darkness bright
He keeps watch all through each long and lonely night
He still finds the time to hear a child's first prayer
Saint or sinner call and always find Him there
And though it makes Him sad to see the way we live
He'll always say, "I forgive".
He can grant a wish or make a dream come true.
He can paint the clouds and turn the grey to blue.
He alone knows where to find the rainbow's end.
He alone can see what lies beyond the bend.
He can touch a tree and turn the leaves to gold
He knows every lie that you and I have told
Though it makes him sad to see the way we live
He'll always say, "I forgive".
The Market heard Obama, and oil jumped >$11 today or 43% for the year.
If they don't stop the market "Corruption" by the ENRON like traders... Al Gore's AGW Fraud & the Senate dead heads. We will have a depression.
A depression is trigered when investors lose confidence in the Honesty of the Market.
Late Investors won't have time to WIZ... All gone!
Posted by: Phillip G. Shaw at June 6, 2008 3:05 PMHas anyone yet thought of comparing Obama's candidacy with Peter Sellar's movie BEING THERE?
Posted by: Doug at June 6, 2008 4:20 PM2008 Bilderberg attendies list is at infowars.com
CFR MSM is all over this. LOL
Several high ranking Canadians.
Hillary-Obama in Virgina having meeting as well.
James A. Johnson (Obama's man tasked with selecting his running mate) is listed.
"Has anyone yet thought of comparing Obama's candidacy with Peter Sellar's movie BEING THERE"
Interesting that you say that , I was just trying to remember this movies name.
Posted by: bob at June 6, 2008 6:44 PMYes, I noticed the "parting of the waters" bit too. I thought: Holy Moses Messiah Hussein.
This rhetoric appeals to the juvenile middle-class "new voters" as they don't have the experience to see the hackneyed rhetoric of it all. For blacks, it's just ol' time ministry. But these people always were considered democratic voters anyway.
But for the other 80% of the voting public? Well, committed dems will vote for him of course. But the as many people won't vote for him for the over-the-top rhetoric and committed repuibs won't.
So, the decider will be the working stiffs. They will be more interested in the stupid economy, stupid.
Posted by: RW at June 6, 2008 7:08 PMPhillip G @ 305. I was shocked with this news item I heard on the radio this evening:
"The oil price jumped $10 today following an announcement by Goldman Sacks that oil will hit $150 a barrel by July".
Well, I bet Goldamn Sacks is selling oil at present, at a hefty profit. Manipulation? You think? Everyone wiht a stake in the trading of crude has an interest.
"Oil will be more expensive. Buy it noe"!.
Posted by: RW at June 6, 2008 7:17 PMSorry, that wasn't Goldman-Sacks but some other "financial house", possibly Price-Waterhouse.
Hey, I'd like to know whether Soros and Mo are taking advantage of this.
Posted by: RW at June 6, 2008 8:04 PMI wondered about Obama's line regarding our "addiction to oil from dictators" so I looked into it a bit.
Turns out that he's wrong ... again.
#1 importer of crude oil to the US -- Canada
#2 importer of crude oil to the US -- Mexico
details here:
http://becausenooneasked.wordpress.com/2008/06/05/where-does-the-crude-oil-come-from-another-obama-mistake/
^^^^^
great research there but did Obama say ALL of our oil comes from dictators.
If you can find a stat that says the US buys no oil from non democratic countries then you are on to something
This Roberto Unger guy is a bigwig in something called "critical legal studies":
"Overly simplified, Crit postulates notions such as: Law is simply politics. Legal language is a false discourse that helps perpetuate hierarchies: Man over women, rich over poor, majorities over minorities."
That's only Wikipedia talking, but what I see is an attempt to replace objectivity with arbitrariness. As I recall, Rosalie Abella (her again) has been quoted in the law-is-only-politics vein.
The terms "critical thought" and "critical studies" appear more and more frequently; I suspect they're about radicalizing students to be "critical" of capitalism, i.e. the hand that feeds them, while not being critical in the least of the brainwashing their extremist professors are doing.
