She's Finished

It doesn't matter what she meant by it;

Asked by South Dakota newspaper the Argus Leader why she didn’t buy the argument that the party was fracturing because of the prolonged contest, Clinton said “my husband didn’t wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June.”

“We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California,” she continued. “You know i just dont understand it.

maybe Obama should borrow the pope mobile, wear a helmet and hire a food taster. The Clintons are in town.

I am no Clinton fan but the longer a campaign runs on the greater the chance of something happening to affect it. I am sure the Obama campaign can read whatever they want into her statements but that does not change the legitimacy of her statements.

If the media wants to talk about the possibility of assassination, I consider that Obama runs a far greater risk of assassination being an Islamic apostate rather than on the basis of race whatever Reverand Wright's opinion. After all we have had black leadership all the way to Secretary of State. It is not a great leap to the presidency from there.

She made a stmt of fact, Robert Kennedy was assinated in June. The media can't change that.
She is not the only one who has mentioned that fact, and there are many out there who think that Obama will never be President, or if elected, finish his term. With that stmt, the media will turn on the Clintons should anything happen to him. The more the media and his supporters compare him to JFK, the more those thoughts will repeated.
What I found weird yesterday is when CNN first reported this they showed a picture of Obamas back, in a crowd.

The media has chosen Barak Obama, case closed, the rest is in the hands of those who can think for themselves. There may not be too many of those if you can believe the results so far.

The media are ready to pounce on Hillary at every opportunity, this is one of them. Fail to see anything to talk about in what she said.
Let 'em have at each other, Democrats eating each other, it's the liberal way.

It is a statement of fact, and harmless if it came up in a conversation with somebody else. But when clinton says it, i know it's one of several possibilities that she obsesses over which might get her the nomination. I'd suggest it's the clinton aura of ruthlessness that made it sound so creepy.
BTW, I'm not suggesting she'd have anything to do with it.

Once again, Olbermann channels SCTV newscaster Earl Camembert.

Who is McCain's backup?

Posted by: PiperPaul at May 24, 2008 11:30 AM

It's so obvious that she was referencing Kennedy re him still being in the race in June. The media is really stretching with this one. It's absolutely ridiculous. I kind of feel sorry for her.

She is absolutely the better candidate for the Dems.

I'm kinda gonna miss Annie Oakley (aka Hillary Clinton). She had the stones to put up with Bill after all...

And they wonder why no reads news papers and watches TV news. These people are worse than hysterical little children.

Although I honestly dislike Hillary(she epitomizes every trait I detest in a politician), it was obvious to me, evident in her long pause afterwards, that she herself had even lost the point she was trying to make.
And again,as much as I dislike virtually all politicians, I can appreciate the unbelievable stress of non-stop debating and endless spinning, all the while trying to maintain a facade of control and surety.Staying in control of every single sentence, no matter how fatigued.
Especially at this extreme level of scrutiny, with a sleazy media ready to take any tasty soundbite out of context and run with it.
When you consider it, with the ill-will inherent in today's partisan politics, it is amazing they don't get caught saying more stupid and tasteless things.

And maybe that is why all politicians, of every stripe, have learned to talk on and on without actually telling us anything.

You can stick a fork in it. Hillary is finished for more reasons than her gaffes. She isn't the MSM's Anointed One. In a way I feel sorry for her. I can't stand either of them, but, at least with her you know what you are getting. Reading her statement and clarification on Drudge it didn't sound as bad as the media presented. They are doing her in.

So, what are the Dems to do with a candidate that can't pull the white vote except for ultra-liberals - Hollywood, Jewish, academics, college kids - not enough of them. Obama is a zero with a large majority of white voters. He doesn't score well with Hispanics or Asians vote either.

I hope she does take it to the convention. And, she does have a point about seating the Florida and Michigan vote to her favor. It will be fun to see just how damn undemocratic the Democrat party really is out in the open.

Posted by: penny at May 24, 2008 2:04 PM

Hugh Hewitt's show yesterday told us that she used the exact same analogy weeks ago. So I can't agree with the excuse that she's tired or the media's against her on this one. She either has an incompetent staff that didn't pick up on the 'assassination' bomb the first time(not likely)or they did and she dismissed them.(likely)She's desperate now, times running out so does anyone out there think she wouldn't purposely put a bug in the ears of voters that an assassination attempt on her opponent isn't out of the realms of possibility? Really?

Posted by: Boots at May 24, 2008 2:50 PM

That's it for Clinton. And if Americans have any sense whatsoever she'll never be considered fit to run again.

Her statement is murderously passive-aggressive, not unlike when the old union bosses would say, "well, someone in management is going to find their house burning down. I'm not encouraging any such thing, and I'm saying so on the record, I'm just saying it's bound to happen, considering management's latest offer."

She was clearly reaching for plausible excuses to stay in the race, and came up with the possibility that Obama might get assassinated. And then, just to make clear that it's not an unrealistic possibility, she says, well, look at Bobby Kennedy.

Really appalling. The bad political judgment is just an inconsequential part of it; it's really about how cravenness and ambition has maimed her humanity.

What happens if Florida and MI say, you don't want to count our vote, come Nov we will not vote for you, and might vote against you.
What happened to Hillory, she was the chosen one before she announced, and for a while after that. Then BHO got some votes and a lote of elite whites said, gee I voted for a black man, I can't be racist. Media wont tell the truth about him as that would be racist.
She made a stmt of face, is trounced. He has made stmts of what he would/will do, but is left alone. No asks him how he will do this.
And he did say that he would re-negotiate nafta whether our media want to believe it or not.
They will socialize the oil industry. (maxine waters).
If he is elected the USA and Canada both are in for a big surprise. He is not the messiah. Nothing will change in the way Washington does politics.

The Clintons have something up their sleeves. I don't believe they will go down without one last kick at the cat. Look for one last bomb-shell and an attempt to take the nomination at the convention. If they don't, then perhaps we've all given them too much credit thus far.

“maybe Obama should borrow the pope mobile, wear a helmet and hire a food taster. The Clintons are in town” - Posted by: cal2 at May 24, 2008 9:35 AM

Ha ha ha………………looks like the Clinton’s will also be pulling future Affirmative Action support after this also.

How many Clinton supporters does it take to win an election? None, they just need enough funding to hire the JFK assassin team and pay them with Geritol and Viagra.

Posted by: Keatger at May 24, 2008 7:42 PM

I wonder if their was some sort of Freudian slip? Here's Ted Kennedy, about to kick the bucket after stabbing the Clintons in the back. You have Obama trying to motivate the dems the way Bobby Kennedy did. You have the whole mess about to climax at the convention. She might actually be concerned that something nasty could happen.

I think the MSM has an obligation to give her a mulligan since they allowed(encouraged) the Wright affair to die. They seem to be doing the opposite. The recent rumors that she's been secretly negotiating an "exit strategy" attest to this. Why in hell would she need an "exit strategy"? She can just walk up to the mike and say "I quit". She ain't quitting til it's over.

Posted by: dp at May 24, 2008 8:23 PM

Hmmm that’s right, another potential US presidential candidate predisposed to Freudian absentmindedness! Just what the world needs…………………”I didn’t mean nuke them actually, I was thinking about that funny little movie with Paul Newman the other night, what was it Fat man & little Boy or some silly thing like that. He’s soooo damned cute isn’t he?”

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm beginning to feel a tiny bit sorry for Hillary.

The primary process in the US is far too long. She must be dog tired, and as always the press are like vultures waiting to swoop down.

People are accusing her of staying in the race too long, but that's only because they are infatuated with Obama. She has every right to stay in the race.

Posted by: TJ at May 24, 2008 9:12 PM

she's definitely NOT out.

....don't make the mistake of thinking the DNC is so foolish as to think they could ever ultimately present the obamessiah as a viable candidate for the white house...they know the democratic mainstream wouldn't vote for him in a secret ballot.... plus they know themselves he makes ross perot look like FDR compared to him....the guy is unelectable and rightly so....

wait till october november...it's going to be a bloodbath....i mean the shit they have on this poseur already and still there's a dossier on this dude's past peccadilos that's fatter than judy rebick's toilet.

Posted by: john begley at May 24, 2008 9:15 PM

I believe (hope) the people will throw obama under the bus come votin' time. A "community organizer" is not what America needs right now.

Posted by: kelly at May 24, 2008 10:19 PM

The American MSM had pounced on Geraldine Ferraro, though a Democrat, who had made a statement on Barack Obama. She had simply said to the effect that if he was the same person, but white, he would not even be in the race.

Be that as it may, Geraldine gave it back to them in spades. It worked. For the sycophantic cowards that they are, their smelling blood in the water, was aborted. Hillary should have got right back in their faces. I would not hope for a Democrat victory, but yell out at the T/V. "You go girl".

I hope I will be forgiven for this little story. I was down on my luck and driving through Saskatchewan. This was in the early seventies. The gas had gone to over a dollar a gallon. The pumps simply did not register over that. One paid the $1.08 cents a gallon on the honour system.

A fiery older man spotted my Ontario licence plate. He sounded off on Trudeau. He got so het up, he said he would shoot Trudeau if he had a chance.

I adopted a rural Ontario accent, which I am not entitled to. I then said: "He ain't worth the price of an ounce of lead in the bullet".

We both laughed.

A twisted, delusional, mind would read into that statement something that is not there. It doesn't bother me, cause it's fact but if Olbermann goes off, we know the lunatics are running the asylum again.

Real Conservative,
Actually Canadians don't really understand the American language. "It is what it is" falls on deaf ears. Of course one could say the same thing about those from Califoria....

May the battle last as long as possible.

The GOP can save it's money and good name while the Donkeys fight with each other and spend every last dime.

By June, the hildibeast will have caused so much damage it won't matter which of these two second-rate losers win the Donkey ticket. The GOP will smash them.

Of course, that means McCain wins but you can't have everything...
