Until I was about 15 years old I spoke French only, and a mistake I used to make often in the beginning ( and that I still make ) and that I see many somewhat bilingual French quebecers make, is to use the English words they know - and sometimes they have quite a good vocabulary - but in a French structured sentence.

It is relatively easy to learn new words in a second language but not so easy to learn how to build sentences that are grammatically and "culturally" correct.

I have been "fluent" in English for over 30 years but I still tend to say things the French way such as "the car blue" - which is how we would say it in French " l'auto bleue " instead of "the blue car" because my brain has been to an extent programmed as a young child to "think" in the French language.

There was a text from Daily Kos about Israel's 60th that was mentioned here a couple days ago, and someone said - and I agree - that it looked like a translation from another language because of the way things were said - not the words, they were all good English - but the structure and the strange combination of words.

So I think Hassan despite his relatively good English vocabulary is still "thinking" in his mother tongue and that explains why he expresses himself that way.

I have heard of these studies alleging that the brain functions etc support gender reassignment theories. Without continuing hormone therapy the alleged reassignment shows the original sexual charecteristics. So without ongoing treatment this illusion will not be supported by the body. Is this not a case of delusion being supported by the medical establishment so as to provide another income stream, not to mention the required ongoing therapy. We the taxpayers and insurance clients support this delusion with out payments. Why not treat this mental illness as: dare we say, mental illness! The head MD at Johns Hopkins reassignment clinic said that this whole program has been a tragic mistake, and that the results have been unsatisfatory for all involved. If you want to sex while pretending to be someone or something else, more power to you! Just don't expect me to pay for it. The poor sad creatures I have met during or after this "medical" treatment were uniformly unhappy before during and after the process. You see it turns out that society really does not care about your feelings and artificial body parts do not change that. Mental illness is serious and unfunny but going along with a delusion to the degree of paying for surgury and ongoing hormone therapy for life is tragic and stupid. You are probably correct in saying the secondary physical characteristics will revert if hormone replacement therapy stops, but what I was saying was that "there is a difference between male and female brains". And it is possible to have a "female" brain in a "male" body. In an earlier post I made here I put in a few references that may interest you. These are from respectable main stream medical publications where articles are peer reviewed before being accepted for publication. "Trade mags for doctors" would be the best discription... and the magazines title, volume number, and page the article is on are listed so you could go read it for yourelf. This isn't from some rag Al Gore could get published in. These are serious articles where the real scientists publish their papers.
