Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to SDA Late Nite Radio. Tonight, for your delectation here are Stanley Jordan on guitars, Charnett Moffett on bass, and Tommy Campbell on drums, performing Stanley's Return Expedition composition, which I must say features some skillful work by all three musicians involved (you won't, if you like this sort of stuff, want to miss Charnett's bass solo in part 1, or Tommy's drum solo in part 2):

I like the 'can Al Gore' idea !
[AccuWeather.com's senior meteorologist and long range expert Joe Bastardi sent the global warming center a copy of his open letter to the 2008 presidential candidates.

[This is exactly how this should be handled. Mr Obama, can the Al Gore as an advisor on the environment. Mr. McCain, quit succumbing to pressure because you want to look nice or moderate. Both of you, get the people that can give this debate its true merit in front of you.]
[ Within the first 100 days of office, get the top five SCIENTISTS on both sides of the issue in front of you in the oval office and let them argue it out. How did the Democratic Party get here? How did the party of Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman and John F. Kennedy drift so far from the foreign policy and national security principles and policies that were at the core of its identity and its purpose?
Beginning in the 1940s, the Democratic Party was forced to confront two of the most dangerous enemies our nation has ever faced: Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. In response, Democrats under Roosevelt, Truman and Kennedy forged and conducted a foreign policy that was principled, internationalist, strong and successful.

I have watched as a group of bloggers- friends and allies of democracy- have been besieged by unprincipled, self aggrandizing, professional litigants who, using the Human Rights Commission, which was meant to be an instrument of help and shelter for the vulnerable has been turned around and made into a weapon to harass honest people into silence and to prosecute those who disagree with Progressive group-think. It is as if they woke up one morning to find the invisible worm nestled into their ears, toward their brains, telling them what not to think- what not to say, forcing them to fight an ominous but valiant struggle against the erosion of free speech in Canada.

Did you knowMartin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican? Every civil rights law, beginning in the 1860s through the 1950s and 1960s, was fought against by Democrats? Or the KKK had links to the Democratic Party? Not only are these questions addressed by the National Black Republicans Association (NBRA), but also more surprising facts.
A few months ago, we had the privilege to meet the chairwoman of NBRA, a brave and gusty woman named Frances Rice. "The double standard looms large when Democrats practice racism," says Rice. "Those who search in the Republican Party haystack for the racist needles, ignore the mountain of evidence about racism in the Democrat Party."
Rice does not initially appear to be the type of person who would strike out and dare to challenge a giant, but that's just what this modern day "David" has done. Rice said her organization is working to set the record straight and "wake up" black voters and "shed the light of truth on the racist past and failed socialism of the Democratic Party.""

Harper announces changes to Canadian food label laws
Updated Wed. May. 21 2008 3:02 PM ET
CTV.ca News Staff
The "made in Canada" label is about to become a lot more Canadian, Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced Wednesday.
Ottawa is introducing new laws so that food products processed in Canada, but made with foreign ingredients, will have to say so on the label, Harper told reporters in Vineland, Ont.
"The truth is, foods marked 'product of Canada' or 'made in Canada' actually may not be very Canadian at all," he said. "Our new guidelines are designed to redefine Canadian food content labels to better reflect the true origins of products in today's global marketplace"
Under current laws, Harper said, it's legal to call a product "made in Canada" if 51 per cent of production costs were incurred here and the final transformation of the product was in Canada.
...Under the new rules, a "product of Canada" label will mean that virtually all of the contents are Canadian in origin.
...He said the announcement would be a boon for Canadian farmers because the country's consumers want homegrown products.
...The accused, a landed immigrant originally from Iran, was found not criminally responsible of assault with a weapon due to mental defect in the March, 2003, stabbing, of a 65-year-old man.
He had also been accused of uttering a death threat and carrying a weapon, a knife and a steel pipe, in 1999, but the charges were dropped.
Last night, the same accused allegedly stabbed a 26-year-old woman three times at Broadview and Danforth avenues.....

Al Qaeda's most fervent supporters acknowledge that Iraq has turned into a disaster for them. Nibras Kazimi, a visiting scholar at the Hudson Institute, reports on a posting at one of al Qaeda's web sites:
A prolific jihadist sympathizer has posted an ‘explosive’ study on one of the main jihadist websites in which he laments the dire situation that the mujaheddin find themselves in Iraq by citing the steep drop in the number of insurgent operations conducted by the various jihadist groups, most notably Al-Qaeda’s 94 percent decline in operational ability over the last 12 months when only a year and half ago Al-Qaeda accounted for 60 percent of all jihadist activity! The author, writing under the pseudonym ‘Dir’a limen wehhed’ [‘A Shield for the Monotheist’], posted his ‘Brief Study on the Consequences of the Division [Among] the [Jihadist] Groups on the Cause of Jihad in Iraq’ on May 12 and it is being displayed by the administration of the Al-Ekhlaas website—one of Al-Qaeda’s chief media outlets—among its more prominent recent posts. He's considered one of Al-Ekhlaas's "esteemed" writers.
The author tallies up and compares the numbers of operations claimed by each insurgent group under four categories: a year and half ago (November 2006), a year ago (May 2007), six months ago (November 2007) and now (May 2008). He demonstrated that while Al-Qaeda’s Islamic State of Iraq could claim 334 operations in Nov. 06 and 292 in May 07, their violent output dropped to 25 in Nov. 07 and 16 so far in May 08. Keep in mind that these assessments are based on Al-Qaeda's own numbers.
The author also shows that similar steep drops were exhibited by other jihadist groups.
Someone get the news to the Associated Press, quick!"

to answer your question about the Democrats: "Hollywood Style Politics"
Progressives and Democrats have been fooled by Hollywood, MSM and the chattering class into thinking that these aforementioned groups represent the mainstream views and values of America/Canada.
Republicans are not considered "cool" so they do not attempt to appeal to the mainstream pop culture. They have focused on issues like foreign policy, taxes ect... while the progressives/Democrats have focused on vogue issues like gender, race and GW.
This has been a gross miscalculation by the Dem's, they have spent too much time on this fluff and have produced fluffy candidates as a result. Situations like Spitzer in NY and the race card in the primaries have also burst the moral high road bubble that the Dem's have been touting. A large chunk of their supporters (soccer moms) have found out that their own party considers them racists. this hasn't helped either.

Discredited strategy
Increasing allegations of corruption and profiteering are raising serious questions about the UN-run carbon trading mechanism aimed at cutting pollution and rewarding clean technologies
"The world's biggest carbon offset market, the Kyoto Protocol's clean development mechanism (CDM), is run by the UN, administered by the World Bank, and is intended to reduce emissions by rewarding developing countries that invest in clean technologies. In fact, evidence is accumulating that it is increasing greenhouse gas emissions behind the guise of promoting sustainable development. The misguided mechanism is handing out billions of dollars to chemical, coal and oil corporations and the developers of destructive dams - in many cases for projects they would have built anyway.
According to David Victor, a leading carbon trading analyst at Stanford University in the US, as many as two-thirds of the supposed "emission reduction" credits being produced by the CDM from projects in developing countries are not backed by real reductions in pollution. Those pollution cuts that have been generated by the CDM, he argues, have often been achieved at a stunningly high cost: billions of pounds could have been saved by cutting the emissions through international funds, rather than through the CDM's supposedly efficient market mechanism."

Hezbollah members could be seen removing mattresses from their encampments around Beirut after talks in Doha, Qatar, resulted in an agreement that for now promises to end the worst violence to grip Lebanon since its 1975-1990 civil war. This latest round left 67 dead. Hezbollah won.
Under the deal, the Hezbollah-led opposition will have its long-sought veto power in a new Cabinet of national unity. Obtaining this veto power was Hezbollah's key demand that triggered a year-and-a-half-long crisis as Lebanon struggled to select a new head of state to replace the pro-Syrian President Emile Lahoud, who finally left office on Nov. 23.
The standoff began in November 2006, when Hezbollah-led opposition lawmakers — in protest of the Cabinet's refusal to grant them enough seats to ensure their veto power — resigned from the government to prevent the majority needed to select a new president.
It is a victory for the Iranian-created, -financed and -armed terrorist organization that before 9/11 was responsible for killing more Americans — including 241 troops in their Beirut barracks in 1983 — than any other group. The al-Dura lie is an assault on our ability to think, to criticize, to evaluate, and finally to reject information — especially the right to reject information on which we base our most cherished assumptions. One of Europe’s most cherished assumptions is that Israel is a vicious Nazi-like entity that deliberately murders Palestinian Arab children. If, in fact, they are, or are seen to be, working on behalf of the AB CHRC, (read giving referrals to the HRC about possible hate crimes) then this is a very negative/dangerous thing. Given the goings on in ON, this bears a shining light.
