Reports From Zimbabwe

Suggest that Robert Mugabe may be favouring a peaceful transition of government over having his lifeless carcass dragged through the streets by the heels.... developing...

I doubt I am the only one who would rather see the carcass-dragging option utilized...

To my understanding, the economic situation has deteriorated beyond the point of Mugabe's rhetoric that 'all is well and it's the White Man's Fault'. The military which had previously supported Mugabe could no longer do so; it knew that without real change (which Mugabe can't provide) the riots if he was declared, yet again, The Winner - would be catastrophic.

What kind of a deal is made, in a, heh, democracy, when one side loses??? No deal. Oh, but Mugabe apparently wants a lot, including immunity from prosecution for human rights violations (why would he, innocent as he is, want that?), and of course, money, money and more money.

Posted by: ET at April 1, 2008 3:06 PM

he's probably stalling for time so he clean out the last few $billions to add to the mega $$$$ he has already stolen and stashed in Swiss accounts.

Check the airport for a private jet all warmed up & ready to pull a Deaky-Dan.

Two little ditties that I have heard from the Gold Coast/Ghana in the 1950s might apply to this cause:

Pre-independence "CDC Movement Anthem":

There is victory for us,
In the struggle of MDC!
There is victory for us!

Forward, and on!
Backward - never!
In the struggle of MDC
There is victory!

Post-Independence 1957
"Freedom Highlife":

Ghana, now we have freedom!
Ghana, Land of Freedom!

Toils of the brave,
and the strength of their labour,
Toils of the brave
that have brought results!
(Stanza x 2)

If Mugabe goes, Vitruvius should have "Freedom Highlife" on SDA Latenight Radio.

Posted by: jwkozak91 at April 1, 2008 3:10 PM

I wonder if the international human rights commies will respect this final deal as much as they respected Chile's deal with Pinochet? I know they just couldn't have a double standard.

After all, before they hounded Pinochet, they put all of their time into prosecuting Pol Pot, Idi Amin... oh, never mind. They're fricken partisan scum.

Posted by: Warwick at April 1, 2008 3:12 PM

I favor dragging him.

Posted by: Westerm Canadian at April 1, 2008 3:16 PM

What did Steyn say they did in Liberia again?

Posted by: Warwick at April 1, 2008 3:20 PM

When it comes to being dragged behind a 'technical', the drag-ee's opinion matters not..

..Just have to sit back and enjoy the slide..er..ride..

Posted by: Kursk at April 1, 2008 4:03 PM

+1 for dragging. I'll bring the cable and diesel fuel.

Posted by: Aaron at April 1, 2008 4:14 PM

Aaron, tsk, tsk, you colonialist running chain dog, don't you mean BIO-diesel fuel?

Now you made Algore cry.

They say that when a little girl is raped young she will suffer the consequences for the rest of her life..

When a whole continent is raped by white people (including french) for hundereds of years... u can't expect them to recover in 2-3 generations.

White people share the blame for the african mess.

Posted by: atheist quebecois separatiste at April 1, 2008 4:32 PM

Atheist quebecois,

Exactly what do you mean by "White people share the blame for the african mess"?

I happen to be white, and neither I nor any of my ancestors had anything whatsoever to do with colonizing Africa. It's abhorrent and nonsensical to "blame" someone for an event over which they could not possibly have had any control.

Posted by: Dennis at April 1, 2008 4:37 PM

I'm sorry you are still suffering the effects of being raped by your neighbor's 18 year old daughter when you were 31.

Does that make her responsible for your stunted mental capacity now?

Is that why you've never set foot out of your mother's basement in Montreal?

Posted by: Doug at April 1, 2008 4:38 PM

AQS was instrumental in the colonization of africa, and that continent's descent into misery. He signed papers. He gave orders. He was the inspiration for Conrad's Kurtz. I hold him personally responsible. J'accuse!!!!
And the rest of us are off the hook.

Posted by: christopher rivers at April 1, 2008 4:47 PM

Dragging is too good for him.

I think necklacing was a big favorite of Mugabe's boys. That's where they put a tire full of gasoline around your neck and light it.

Set him on fire first, -then- drag him.

Posted by: The Phantom at April 1, 2008 4:54 PM

Not AQS, I hasten to add. He should be mocked.

Posted by: The Phantom at April 1, 2008 4:55 PM

AQS,

You're a twit. To correct your analogy, your rape victim's grandchildren would be whining.

Zimbabwe was a functioning state after colonial rule. It degenerated from what it was not because of the racism of white people against black people but the anti-white racism of a black African thug who happens to be the dictator.

In life, you don't get to whine about what happened to other people without being a loser.

Given the average age of people in Zimbabwe, 65% of them weren't alive when the country gained independence. Most of those who were probably think they had it better under whitey in hind sight - and given that there were obvious grievances, that says something about how bad the Afro-marxist tyrant made the place.

"atheist quebecois moans... when a whole continent

hundereds(sic) of years..."

...apparently it turns them into corrupt, homicidal
rapists themselves
.

look closely folks... you will likely never see a better
example of the "soft bigotry of low expectations"
than this nonsense right here.

thank you... uber-dumbstick aqs.

Posted by: maz2 at April 1, 2008 5:10 PM

I'm betting he'll soon disappear .... only to turn up in some other African country with full access to his non-Zimabwean bank accounts.

Posted by: OMMAG at April 1, 2008 5:20 PM

Zimbabwe cannot possibly advance itself if Zanu-PF "regains" power. Most Zimbabweans consider that they are living in the land of the dead now and so they would have nothing to lose by inciting violence if the MDC is cheated again. Let's hope someone can talk Mugabe into leaving and taking the consequences of his actions. Dictators like him can always find an escape route to an accommating country.

Posted by: violet at April 1, 2008 5:22 PM

The situation in Zim has been ignored for so
long, primarily because it is black on white.
When the land was taken from the white farmers and given to Big Bobby's friends, food production halted. The blacks who were employed on the farms lost everything first. They need to keep Bobby from leaving and hold him to account for what he has done, and away from all the treasure he has plundered.

Posted by: cappy at April 1, 2008 5:48 PM

See what happens when that sniveling pontificating Election Certifier for Thugs, Jimmy Carter, isn't present.

Mugabe ought to be thrown in a cell and put on the 500 calorie a day diet he reduced his citizens to live on.

Sadly, faces change in Africa with only the cycle of Insanely Vicious versus More Benevolently Evil thug as leader as a given.

Posted by: penny at April 1, 2008 6:01 PM

The former ruler of the country, Ian Smith, died last November at the age of 88. For all the criticism he received during his rule and afterwards, he will most certainly be remembered much more fondly than his successor.

"Yet the odd truth is that in retirement after 1980, when Mugabe took over, Smith not only did not fade away but grew both in stature and popularity. As Mugabe's regime became steeped in blood and violence Africans of all persuasions flocked to Smith's house to consult him. The (all black) student body of Harare University gave him a standing ovation for his ringing condemnation of "the gangsters," as he always called Mugabe's corrupt ruling mafia....

"Smith's image improved inversely as Mugabe's plummeted. Paul Themba Nyathi, a leader of Zimbabwe's opposition Movement for Democratic Change, who had fought Smith's regime tooth and nail, told me that in retrospect Smith's Rhodesia had been "a paradise." In material terms, that was certainly true: Everything then was better for Africans than it is now -- education, health care, standard of living, life expectancy and employment.

As people saw Mugabe cloistered behind high walls and Kalashnikov-toting guards, venturing out only in armoured cars and vast militarized motorcades, they also remembered how Smith had lived a simple, unguarded life. When he needed to travel abroad, he drove himself unescorted to the airport, parked his car and carried his own bag. Just before the last presidential election in 2002, Smith said to me, "If Mugabe and I walk together into a black township, only one of us will come out alive. I'm ready to put that to the test right now. He's not."

You can freely spout that type of reversed racist crap over at rubble(rabble)and get your idiot progresives to agree. But here people know better its all bullshit. There are many Oriental countries that have been colonized by the evil whitey. Perhaps it should seem fair that whitey get the blame for the Asians turning thier countries into a success after they booted whitey out.

Posted by: Shawn at April 1, 2008 7:25 PM

Ever been to Africa AQS? Do you even know what you are talking about? Do you not have any idea how many billions in aid and goodwill the tinpots of Africa have squandered? Have you ever wandered upon truckloads of food, stamped with a maple leaf, being sold on the black market? Have you ever witnessed thug punks executing children at point blank range? Have you ever witnessed the bodies of beheaded women, left behind like garbage?

So, are you trying to tell me that these acts of barbarity and thievery are somehow remotely connected to my forefathers?

I can say only one thing to an idiot like you.

But I promised Kate I would try to not swear at morons.

We in the West need to continue to provoke the massive numbers of radical facist blacks all over the world to keep them increasing their attacks on the West. Once everyone has been satisfactorily outraged and or victimized by these monsters, we can them provide the support to our governments and our our armed forces to start killing them in far, far greater numbers. We must also continue to badger our politicians to end all black immigration in the West. If we are ever to have a chance to survive as free people we MUST defeat these beasts NOW! We can beat them if we resolve to do so. So far, as I see it, they are winning because we are letting them win. How stupid is that? The Leftists, Homosexuals, women's groups, university students, the NDP and all other haters of Western society are all complicit in the africanist jihad against us. We might want to start doing something about them too

Posted by: John Vest at April 1, 2008 8:47 PM

Most Africans leaders with there uninformed populations out side of this man made lunatic asylum, think this guy is a hero.
The breadbasket of Africa reduced to food deliveries. While one man acts like a human vacuum cleaner of money. This could have been Canada under the liberals in another 20 years with each generation forgetting the good times of plenty or any whisper of humanity nor any scrap of liberty once known by their parents.

Its sad the potential lost from a Nation that could have been a leader in Africa but choose tyranny in the name of race. More delusions from this pernicious dogma. As with its suckling twin socialism.

As for my ancestors they never despoil a land or people. Most where peasants or farmers. Not soldiers or empire builders.

India still uses the British system of railways built their. As for the British Empire, who outlawed slavery? Who brought industrialization to a 1/4th of the globe? Who caused the end of horrific child mortality by medicine worldwide?
Who brought the idea of equality of Women or the beginnings at least too lands who hated them?
Who built universities the world over in the Countries they wielded? Who left a world language?
Britain.

The Roman empire was cruel, slave driven, extremely class conscious, but it helped populations by roads, aqueducts, theater , policing, to improve life for most persons before they came. The English & other European Nations may have been monstrous at times as the Romans, but the world Is better off today than ever before because of them. Empires are not social workers. But they leave in the wake of conquest laws of civilization. Something Mugabe shed like the skin of snake. Many like Idi Amin or Pol Pot, you know the ones, have.

Sure mistakes where made , still being made, but who else has proliferated ideas with so much enhancement for all the worlds peoples? The Us, Canada, Australia, New Zealand are her children .As long ago we where the Romans prize for a time. I would say the fruit from this tree turned out fairly well .

Oh yeah, one more thing Warren, that whole candidate thing was an April Fool deal right?

Posted by: Sober2ndThought at April 1, 2008 9:09 PM

Mugabe and his cronies have raped and murdered in a country that at one time was an exporter of food to the rest of the African continent, but now is dealing with hyperinflation of the type that hasn't been seen since post WWI Germany. I think that Mr. Smith's quote from 2002 is more than appropriate not that is seems like Mugabe has lost the election.

One other point - the average life expectancy last year was estimated to be 39 1/2 years...and AIDS affects 1.8 million people out of a total population of 12 million people.

Mugabe and his followers committed genocide on the people and country of Zimbabwe.

O,lets wring our hands and decry the evil whitey. The despoiler of the black and the evil of trying to educate and raise them out of misery and into a life of productivity.O woe is me to be one of these low lifes. One who provides food for a hundred plus besides myself so that social engineers and their like can preach to me about how much good that they do and how much bad that I do.Then maybe I will be able to equate to those that are 31 and were raped by a pretty 18 year old neighbor gal but not to effen likely.

believe it or not(ask steyn if you don't believe me)Mugabe(comrade Bob as Mandela called him) has a rubber penis the red chinese fitted him with years ago.
all i ask is that before they drag him by the heels through the streets is that someone keep track of where the penis ends up.

because...koff koff ....because..hakkaf.....cause a friend of my wife's cousin is interested in purchasing said accoutrement.

“The Us, Canada, Australia, New Zealand are her children ”– British Empire

I would say for the sake of argument – Were once her children!

The British Empire is dead and gone now, what remains of England is fast becoming a mockery of civil rights and a multicultural cesspool minus British culture.

I would say Common Wealth countries owe as much allegiance to modern England as Germania, or Britannia owed Rome after it collapsed as an Empire.

Posted by: Knight 99 at April 2, 2008 8:15 PM

Knight 99 :

Where do I speak of allegiance to Britain?
In my opinion the Americans had every right to have there own Country as do the rest.
Remember a little thing called the Northwest rebellion? Well I am a westerner , I think we do too.
My thinking is more in line with yours. The commonwealth is defunct as is the Roman Empire. As for being her children we still are in law & tradition. As she inherited much from the Roman Empire so we do from the 2nd British Empire.

England no matter how weak or feeble is still all our Parent. As any real Mother knows you never stop being a parent even if your now a bag Lady.
That does not mean we have to have any loyalty or even respect towards England today. Those where her great achievements of old I was enumerating. America went on to raise the prominence of individual rights & freedoms, even higher as an adult than her birth Mother as a Nation in her own right, as have we all her brood in different ways.

In my opinion selling their birthright for a bowl of maggot stew named multicultural socialism from a sense of cultural guilt. Like the Romans, the Brits have sold the essence of the Nation for a animalistic creed, that was engenders the hearts of cowards turned towards purposely denigrating their own peoples into a slave population by a disconnected intelligentsia allied with moronic inbreed elites. Trying to alter human behavior threw dogma or force of power.
By government Imperator, courts, education, entertainment, the very thoughts we think. They call it progressive. I call it an invitation to mass murder or social breakdown with invasion sure to follow.

Please re-read my post .

“Please re-read my post.”
I did, and I misunderstood, apologies……….We agree 100%.

On the side - I reiterate that it’s sad and a shame. I used to enjoy visiting the UK years ago and simply have no taste for it anymore. It simply feels like a defeated nation for lack of a better explanation.

An article I read the other day (UK Telegraph or somewhere) said +/- 680 skilled tax paying Brits are abandoning the UK every day now, almost ½ a million per year and growing exponentially. Replaced of course with much less skilled third world immigration and the “unmentionable” drain on the countries social services.

“White flight” an American phenomenon is becoming dangerous enough now that it’s a regular topic of discussion there. Unlike the US where whites moved from the inner city to the suburbs then acreage communities, these taxpayers are gone for good.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2008/01/15/nwhite115.xml
As with the earlier article SDA listed
http://www.brusselsjournal.com/node/3140

It’s just to politically incorrect to discuss the real and genuine issues degrading a once great society as England was. We ourselves better wake up and learn from their cultural demise, the world is getting smaller year by year………….
