"It's rare that the population wants an election, but we can feel it when the fruit is ripe. And at that time - it's not up to me to tell you when; it's part of the strategy that we keep close to our chest - there will be an election."" - Stephane Dion(h/t "aek") Posted by Kate at March 29, 2008 6:36 PM
I didn't know Dion had a chest.
Hmm.
I didn't know Dion was a fruit. Is he ripe yet?
Posted by: The Phantom at March 29, 2008 8:29 PMGo ahead Dion, Harper has a brand new set of puppet strings.
Posted by: Sounder at March 29, 2008 8:31 PMYou know what happens to a melon when it gets over ripe, all soft and squishy. Just like Dion's brain.
Posted by: MaryM at March 29, 2008 8:40 PMClode da chedst han rip frooee, dime hees dime han dime chozed foar Candaz voucher.
Posted by: steffie at March 29, 2008 8:41 PMMonsier Dion,

Posted by: John West at March 29, 2008 8:43 PMI dunno, I look at some of the lib MPs and they look a bit over-ripe to me (McCallum, Coderre...)
Posted by: Soccermom at March 29, 2008 8:43 PMSteffie:
Your phonetics have done it again. I'm on the floor with laughter. And I can't get up.
Sort of reminds me of the "proof is a proof is a proof" speach.
Posted by: Marcia at March 29, 2008 8:56 PMDo you tink hits easy to feel a ripe fruit?
Posted by: Ghost of Ed at March 29, 2008 8:57 PMSorry about that Ed but i see no other point than chuck shit at dion citroen. thanks
Posted by: steffie at March 29, 2008 9:02 PMSo if Steffi wanted an election would Jack hold it against him?
Posted by: Bernie at March 29, 2008 9:03 PMDion should check out that fruit. I believe its fermented already.
The distillation being: Corruption, lies, arrogance, theft, cowardice, power mongering, god complex’s. Culminating in megalomania
These fruits blossom in the soil of the HRC fiddles. Asphyxiating our right to free speech & thought.
With the nourishment of collusion, with an ossified Educational system devoted to Marxism.
Watered in the Politically Correct ideology of multiculturalisms bent view of what constitutes tolerance, values, family, religion or commonsense.
The only tree that wholly exposes this fruit, is named liberal. This is all they can bare.
Posted by: Revnant Dream at March 29, 2008 9:06 PMIt's nautizzy wen all da fruits are green.
Posted by: EBD at March 29, 2008 9:12 PMDearest Steffie,
Yes, there will be an election, when Stevie calls it in '09.
Regards.
Posted by: GaryinWpg at March 29, 2008 9:17 PMAnd, by cosmic coincidence, the moment the population wants an election will coincide with the same moment the Liberals think they can win.
Posted by: Richard Ball at March 29, 2008 9:31 PMHe doesn't have to tell us when the fruit will be ripe we all know it will be ready for harvest October 19, 2009.
Posted by: Gord Tulk at March 29, 2008 9:44 PMThis ISN'T parody? This is for real?
Who's writing Dion's scripts? Or, is he just screwing it up?
ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: batb at March 29, 2008 9:57 PMIf anybody knows about fruit, it's gotta be dainty Dion.
Posted by: Barbara at March 29, 2008 10:36 PMHey! Where is de disciplinnn dat his hentitled to dee senior ripe frooot eh?
AWW that*s awful. Scrub it, apologies and the next party election will be Bob Ray as Liberal leader before the next federal election that gives Harper a majority government. = TG
Posted by: TG at March 29, 2008 11:06 PMI wonder how Canadian voters will react to being compared to ripening fruit by Dion:
Mindless, passive and existing to be exploited.
Posted by: aek at March 29, 2008 11:16 PMWE are laughing so hard!
"psst, dion, darling, I gotta tell 'ya! It is serious! Yep, da writing is on da wall"
( ~ and in both official languages too!)
About the only ripe thing in Canada is the "progressive movement".
By ripe I don't mean good to eat I mean ripe as in "rotting meat".
Posted by: Joe at March 30, 2008 12:07 AMSo, how do Liberal voters like being compared to "low lyingh fruit" - easy pickings?
Insulted yet????
Posted by: lmf at March 30, 2008 12:40 AMDion sounds like Chauncey Gardener in "Being There" starring Peter Sellers. I tell you this guy is loony tunes.
For anyone who hasn't seen the movie. Chauncey was a retard who knew only about gardening and when his benefactor (employer) died he was out on the street with a suit case full of his benefactor's expensive conservative clothing. He wandered around the streets aimlessly until his was hit by a car that a high powered politician's wife was driving.
He was taken in and cared for to avoid a scandal and as it goes on this half wit winds up as a presidential adviser because they thought his constant referrals to gardening was all metaphor for weighter matters of state ... etc etc If you haven't seen it ... rent it.
Posted by: John West at March 30, 2008 1:55 AMBeing there is beyond a classic, it is Sellers final movie and a Masterpiece. I own a copy and to say that it's good is an understatement.
Dion on the other hand could be a frightening reminder of the cunning of the Liebrals. Put the head of the Department of Intergovernmental Affairs during ADSCAM, the guy that controlled the purse strings, (and everyone thinks he's lily white) make him the goof that leads the Liebrals so poorly that everyone will forget that they owe many, many, many millions of unaccounted for dollars of missing, maybe stolen money and that there are many, many, many crooked deals to be revealed.
This is entirely too convenient and too easy. It's gotta be a set up to divert attention from the past wrongs.
Yeah, I know I'm paranoid but just because you're paranoid, does not mean that someone isn't out to get you.
Odd Brew
Posted by: Pat at March 30, 2008 3:07 AMah !..."when the fruits are ripe"....he's thinking of coconuts isn't he ?....or maybe bananas ?......possibly grapes ?
i don't know WHY i get hung up on shit like this but i do....i wonder, has the LLLiberal party finally driven me around the twist?
Posted by: john begley at March 30, 2008 8:46 AMNo doubt about Dion being "dainty" when he eats hot dogs with a knife and fork.
There are several over ripe Liberals who are about to fall to the ground in the next election, Dion is helping the process.

It's North America...

Hopefully the Conservatives are saving all of these delicious quotes for use later. To my reading, Dion has just admitted openly that they are not interested in playing their part in the governing of this country (by acting as a loyal opposition) but are only interested in doing whatever it takes to take advantage of the slightest opportunity to sieze control.
Using the Liberals own words against them is the best weapon. "Forage off the enemy" is what Sun Tzu would say.
Posted by: Eeyore at March 30, 2008 9:40 AMThe Liberals have been "assessing" the best time for an election since they got the boot. They can keep assessing until Harper finishes his first mandate.
Then, does it really matter if Harper gets a majority or not. He's been governing as if he has a majority. The Liberal voting record shows that they talk like Liberals but vote (if they vote) almost the same as Conservatives.
Dion makes the advertising easier every passing day.
Posted by: Geoff at March 30, 2008 9:48 AMNever policy. The Liberals give their votaries Puffins, fruit and hysteria.
Posted by: irwin daisy at March 30, 2008 10:28 AM Ah, but you see there is much more when you take a second look in the orchard.
Read this load of dung and gain a new perspective on Steffi.....not! It's a hoot.
"POTENTIAL
The man who could be King
With a disloyal party, apathetic voters and a famous dog, Liberal leader Stéphane Dion seems like a match for, hmmm – Canada's longest-serving PM?
http://www.thestar.com/News/article/407183
...The gift that keeps on giving...keep it up Steffi, you are making incredible sound clips!
Posted by: Al W at March 30, 2008 11:39 AMThank you Rich, that article is really something. Notice the dismissive tone about Harper, who apparently has all the charm of a "forensic accountant;" you know, the guy Grits afraid to defeat and face in election (oh, right, the fruit is not ripe yet).
Hmm, apt description - Harper has completed his audit and has found Dion and the Grits to be no threat whatsoever (at least at this time). Personally, I'd rather wait for the real forensic audit, where we can track down the stolen, and unreturned, tax dollars Grits took.
So Mackenzie King and Dion share characteristics. To think this guy teaches our young people, and presents a "paper" that would receive a failing grade in any introductory political science class (well, at least it should, given it is rife with sins of omission, the worst kind, doncha know)
Their desperation is showing; Canadians don't like leaders who appear desperate. Was Mackenzie King ever desperate, Professor McLeod?
Keep living the delusion. Maybe, just maybe if they keep living in this isolated dream-on world (oops Dream Team) Harper could overtake Mackenzie King as longest serving PM.
Posted by: Shamrock at March 30, 2008 12:50 PMDion says a lot about the quality of professors in our universities these days.
We keep hearing how intelligent he is, after saying and doing so many stupid things, doesn't there come a time when he loses the 'intelligent' label?
Ivory tower professors are not well rounded but rather specialists on say the mating habits of the tortenella butterfly, Mr Soozooki for example.
During WWII the Canadain government delayed replacing useless Asdic with modern Radar and lost millions in convoy shipping.
Not to mention the scrapping of the Avro-Arrow on the basis of Diefenbaker*s Ego.
The USA defense industry was clamoring to buy many of the Arrow*s advanced systems. It would have been an industry generator for Canada.
The Cretien government was a sad comedy of errors, too numerous to list. = TG
Posted by: TG at March 30, 2008 5:15 PMMr. Dion's Liberals are polling behind the other 3 established parties in Quebec City, his home...
Really he has nowhere else to run to, he hasn't paid off his leadership expenses, but his replacements have and are now both elected MP's, and with potential for Mr. Harper to push all his buttons in the upcoming session, oh politics! can be such blood sport.
I love it.
note. what's with the "anon" commentary of late? it seems to be infecting a few worthy sites.
We clever liberals, strategists that we are, will not tell you when you tell us to go for an election.
pleeze a leetle mor discipleen.
Posted by: RW at March 30, 2008 6:50 PMMarcie @ 8.56 ...speach??? I think you have too much fruit on your mind; you meant speech, Shirley?
Posted by: RW at March 30, 2008 7:04 PMI will continue to vote for Stepon DeYawn, because he represents the 'Natural Governing Party' (And the Natural Governing Party signs my welfare cheques.)
