".. crazy busy around here". Tis Baptism time you know. Next.
Posted by: Sounder at March 23, 2008 3:12 PMAnd because this man was baptized, he is now to be killed. I don't know the Book of Madness method that is advised, whether it's toss him off a high building, smother him, cut his throat, behead him, stone him or what, but kill him it is. Can't have people choosing, Don'cha'no!!

Posted by: Griff at March 23, 2008 3:26 PMYahya Pallavicini, vice president of Coreis, the Islamic religious community in Italy, said he respected Allam's choice but said he was "perplexed" by the symbolic and high-profile way in which he chose to convert.
"If Allam truly was compelled by a strong spiritual inspiration, perhaps it would have been better to do it delicately, maybe with a priest from Viterbo where he lives," the ANSA news agency quoted Pallavicini as saying.
I'll just bet he made the same criticisms of the 9-11 hijackers.

"This high-profile baptism by the Pope of Magdi Allam, which is visible to millions on Vatican TV is a very significant gesture and a clear message to the Islamic umma, affirming the sacrosanct status of freedom of conscience. It is an elegant gesture far more effective than any Bible thumping or overt criticism of Islamic fascism, which is not really Benedict's style. So blessings upon Benedict and Magdi Allam and may they both live long!"
Magdi Allam is a brave and authentic soul. I hope the Italian authorities continue to protect him. Go Pope Benny, go! The imams in Saudi must be fuming...heh, heh.
This is wonderful news! Happy Easter to all!
Posted by: Valenci at March 23, 2008 3:51 PMDon't really know if Bin Laden would be up for the last rites, (after the fact) or baptism but it would have to be by proxy from an undisclosed location given the price on his head, dead or alive.
Posted by: Liz J at March 23, 2008 3:57 PMWhere is that crazy maggot meat Osama these days? Suppose it doesn’t matter much anyway, goes to show that the war on terror has done it’s job.
I would think that if he’s not a dead sack of bones somewhere obscure, he’s emulating his pedophile hero and probably furiously scribbling while talking to Allah, rewriting the Koran in some dusty little cave. You know the sequel “Bloodier goat path to Peace” which revises some of the old fashioned crap about rejecting material things and masturbating over homosexual pornographic material.
So many new things to experience once Islam takes over the west, that the prophet of old could not have foreseen some stumbling blocks of this new generation. “Who needs 72 virgins in heaven for example when we can easily gang rape many more on the streets of Sweden without dieing first?” it would say.
Yes I’m sure if ol Bin laden is not already dead with his absent corpse being used to further legitimize the war on terror, he probably has one hand on his autobiography and the other on the cord of his dialysis machine. He he.
40,000 Imans are being reprogrammed. Will they also convert.
We need a Novena to convert these Imans to Christians.
Yes, Benedict is a highly intellgent, very 'savvy' Pope. He knows exactly what he's doing. And he actually is confronting the frozen ideology of Islam, in his speeches, in his actions. He's not just exorting everyone to 'get along'. He's confronting their actions, their ideology. He's very impressive.
As for Bin Laden, I concur with Mark Steyn, who long, long ago, insisted that he's dead. Bin Laden hasn't given us a current-time image of himself for years. Those videos by look-alikes and even, not-look-alikes are just, well, fakes.
Posted by: ET at March 23, 2008 4:39 PMI love the Osama quote:
"Your publications of these drawings - part of a new crusade in which the pope of the Vatican had a significant role - is a confirmation from you that the war continues,"
I guess all those tens of thousands of Jihadis that we keep sending to meet Allah weren't passing on the message....
Posted by: Alex at March 23, 2008 4:49 PMWell JC was the original "ROCK 'n ROLLER"; why should Pope Benny be any different!?!
Nothing like a couple of spiritual earthquakes to shake things up a little.
Here's to rollin' that rock away.

Posted by: Hans Rupprecht at March 23, 2008 4:50 PMThe Pope has given Islam the opportunity to expose its true nature in a very succinct and clear way. Watch what Islam now does, not what it says. Apostates are traditionally given three days to repent.
Posted by: shaken at March 23, 2008 4:59 PMI'm not Catholic but applaud this. It is obvious that the Vatican did this at Easter to send a message to the Muzzies that freedom of religion is alive and well in democracies. I have a lot of problems with the Pope's stance on a lot of things, but this time he got it right!
God Bless The Pope.

Crusading to conquer Islam, one baptism at a time.
.
Five adults, only one an "anglo", were baptized at the Easter Vigil in my Catholic Christian community last night. It was deeply moving and clear that those baptized were deeply moved by the ceremony.
I am always touched when adults make the choice to be baptized--to move from darkness to light by their own cognition, from slavery to freedom, from sinfulness to forgiveness and grace.
Magdi Allam has made this same decision, as thousands around the world have this Easter (if not millions), and Pope Benedict, like thousands of Catholic priests, world-wide, has administered this Sacrament to a willing and grateful new Christian.
Happy Easter to all at SDA! Jesus Christ is risen! He is risen, indeed. Hallelujah!
Posted by: batb at March 23, 2008 6:18 PMIn church I attend we don't usually hold baptisms near Easter. It takes too long to cut a hole in the ice and once the hole is cut no one wants to be immersed. The water is just too blessed cold!
However baptisms can wait while we celebrate the fact that He is risen.
Posted by: Joe at March 23, 2008 6:52 PMBenedict the Crusader...the best way! That's cool.
Jesus didn't have to Roll that Rock.He was probably outta there before it was moved. It was moved so they could go in to see the Empty Tomb!He is Risen. Amen!
Joyful Easter Greetings to all!
Magdi Allam has taken the spiritual journey from a religion of darkness and confusion to one of enlightenment and love. No doubt it is causing quite a stir in the Muslim community. We might even see more complaints launched with the various Human Rights Tribunals!!
I too want to wish all who tune in here a happy and blessed Easter (yes - even you, separatist atheist). This site takes alot of heat from the likes of WK et al but the more I read postings from many of the "regulars" the more it reaffirms for me that they are good people with their heart in the right place. He is risen - His peace to all.

Posted by: Kate at March 23, 2008 11:13 PMBenedict and the other RC higher-ups have been doing lots of talking with the moderates in the islamic faith almost since he became pope. could the RC church be pivotal int the destruction of radical Islam just as it was in the destruction of communism?

Free choice and free will is a wonderful thing.
Christians established the right to practise their religion without appeasing to Muslim thuggery back in 832 AD in what is now known as the Iconcoclastic Controversy.
It established the right of Christians to venerate icons after more than a century of putting up with prohibitions by civil authorities and destruction of churches by intolerant Muslim hordes.
The word ‘apostate' you use would be a justification for murder within the Muslim community, and not just the extremist jihadists who kill just for fun.
From a Christian perspective and from the man's own explanation in today's front page story in the National Post, it was the final act of a man seeking a more loving path than his former religion had to offer.
Thou shalt not kill appears to be just one of the Ten Commandments some in the Muslim world do not respect, when it comes to their treatment of other innocent human beings.
This is a fantastic issue and is yet another opportunity for the rejection of violent solutions.
Posted by: set you free at March 24, 2008 11:00 AMI subscribe to Joel Rosenberg's newsletter and this is a portion in today's:
The God of the Bible is moving powerfully in the Middle East to draw men, women and children to His heart and adopt them into His family in record numbers. More Muslims have come to faith in Jesus Christ over the last thirty years -- and specifically over the last seven to ten years -- than at any other time in human history. There is a revival going on among the ancient Catholic, Coptic, and Chaldean churches. Today, the Church is being truly resurrected in the lands of its birth.
Posted by: gellen at March 24, 2008 12:25 PM“Bin Laden said the publication of the cartoons was a graver offense than the "bombing of modest villages that collapsed over our women and children,"
That really sums it all up doesn’t it?
I suppose another way to look at it, is since bombing a village is far less insulting to you; we reduce the cartoons and increase the bombing. No big deal eh?
"Crusading to conquer Islam, one baptism at a time."
Is the Sacrament of Baptism really a war on another religion? Did Christ really desire the crusades? I think we all need to slow down a bit in our judgment. Islam traces its heritage back to Abraham. Sometimes it is said that comes from Ishmael's line, the forgotten son of Abraham. God promised Hagar in the desert. "I will so increase your descendants that they will be too numerous to count." 11The angel of the LORD also said to her: "You are now with child and you will have a son. You shall name him Ishmael, for the LORD has heard of your misery. 12He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone's hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers."
Anyway, regardless of whether there is a link here, the infinite mercy and wisdom of God works through all channels. We do not know that God desires the destruction of Islam. Let us be people of peace before we are people of victory.
