It's actually quite an upscale area. Wapping flats along the Thames typically go for over a million pounds and it's only a few minutes's walk from the financial centre of Canary Wharf.

Yet, it also abuts an area of government housing provided to the poor, which in this case is made up primarily of immigrants from Bangladesh.

I loved London, loved the area, but after having a child and constantly being exposed to the amount of mindless thuggery and sheer awfulness of modern Britain, we had to leave. Like so many others these days.

Somehow, just somehow - a leftie is going to come along and call us all a bunch of right wing hypocrites for even talking about this muslim attack story.

Muslims, whoops did the article even mention that word? Well, considering while they were beating him and demanding a mosque, yah -I'll take that leap and say it was muslims. Call me a stereotyper I guess!!

Then the lefties will go on to say that what else can be expected of these poor, dis-enfranchised people whom the rest of society has black-listed and won't even sell a pair of shoes to. It's our fault, no -even better, it's the priest's fault for even criticising their faith and culture (and by criticising I mean: not partaking of)

I don't see this as a symptom of the larger problem. In this case it seems quite clear drugs and common delinquency are the more likely cause of the attack. In another neighborhood it would be skinheads stomping someone. The common element is pointless violence fueled by drugs with some "cause" giving them "respectability" among themselves.

Just to be clear... Creeping Sharia is a problem. People preemptively censoring themselves and others for fear of Muslim violence is a problem. However thuggery fueled by drugs is likely just thuggery fueled by drugs.

Think how this story would have been handled had it been about an attack on gays, muslims, or blacks by a gang of skinhead neo-nazis.

Because it is an attack on a white male, the motivation of the attacker is not explored in any detail, for fear of offending those whom the liberal mainstream media have designated as helpless "victims". Notice, as well, that no attempts are made to ascertain any trends for this type of violence, nor are we told of any past violent incidents in the same geographical area.

As far as the MSM is concerned, any action, no matter how gruesome, can be excused if the perpetrator fits into the correct racial or cultural category. In that case, the perpetrator is exempt from blame because they are said to be merely "reacting" to past or present "oppression".

What, you mean :
a)the other incidents that support the viewpoint that there is increasing muslim aggression in the UK or,
b) other incidents that support the viewpoint of muslim victimisation?

Hypocrite, really, as I was posting in response to this story in particular.

Again, here comes the moral relativism, because I didn't comment on a story I had never seen thus I am not allowed to comment on a story I have seen.

Or : muslims kill 50 people in londong bombing but because there are over 500 "hate crimes" where, my god, people got spit it on or punched in the head then no-one possibly has the right to comment on or even be concerned about muslim attacks.

Worse than that, we even have to be careful not to aggravate the muslims becuase then they have an excuse to attack us back.

Violence is rising in the UK big-time, getting spat on or punched or slapped is no longer even reported by most people as there is no point, the police will never apprehend someone. However, turn it into a hate crime and you force the police to act (and hence it then appears in their statistics as a hate crime when a lot of it was just run of the mill UK violence).
