Will Brad Wall decrease EDUCATION taxes on Property? Currently I live in Saskatoon and pay the highest Education taxes in all of Canada. It is Insane.

Posted by: dj at March 16, 2008 9:47 AM

Hey dj,
Look at the bright side... with all that money going to the education system, you guys must be insanely educated... no??

Posted by: Deity at March 16, 2008 9:55 AM

DJ - If you were paying attention in the last election you would know that the Sask Party did promise not only property tax relief but also getting in place a new system that takes the burden off of property owners and more onto the province in general. School boards have expressed concern that their ability to raise revenue through the mill rate will be taken away. Well, in Saskatoon, if the education portion of your property taxes are too high, maybe that would be a good thing.

In Swift Current some 25 or so years ago the municipal portion of property tax was fairly equal to the education protion. Today the education portion is roughly 70% of the total. I believe that school boards have flown under the radar for far too long on this issue. I'm looking forward to seeing what the government will be proposing to change how this is presently working.

Found on a radical muslim Canadian website. They were gloating about it:

"Canada : Mosque building boom"

Within the next decade, Ottawa-area Muslims will have 8 major mosques and more than 20 community centres, Mohammed Adam reports.

Mohammed Adam, The Ottawa Citizen

A growing Muslim population in Ottawa is fuelling a building boom in mosques that some experts say could change the face of the nation’s capital over the next decade.

Four new mosques are in various stages of construction across the capital, with two more on the drawing board. As well, a former theatre and casino complex in an Ottawa business park has been converted into one of the city’s largest and most patronized mosques.

By the time all the construction is completed in about 10 years, Ottawa will boast eight major mosques, in addition to more than 20 community halls or “musallahs” where people gather for prayers.

--------------------

"...change the face of the nation’s capital over the next decade."

This is not religion. This is cultural hegemony followed by political supremacy over the dhimmis. It's a plan they are at various stages of completing throughout Europe. This must be stopped. We are not an Arab Muslim land. And we cannot allow our politicians to be compromised as they have been in Europe.

The sound of the Muslim call to prayer blaring curses against us five times a day from a dozen minarets throughout our Nations capital is at the very least an extreme insult to our historical foundations, our democracy and the soldiers who gave their lives for our freedoms.

And if the money for these Mosques was supplied by Saudi Arabia, as it probably has been, I'd call this intolerable interference in our soveriegn affairs, if not worse.

Recession, what recession?

Harvard University economist Martn Feldstein further sounded the alarms yesterday saying, "I believe the economy is now in recession", and that it could "become the worst recession we have seen in the postwar period." - Mar 14 2008, at the Prudent Bear.

MIke Brock has some links for us to organizations that favor the abolition of S. 13(1).

One such link is to EGALE. They want that subsection gone, too.

Why this is interesting is because Richard Warman is a member of EGALE. Apparently he's offside with them.

irwin daisy: Conincidentally, I had to drive out from Vancouver to New Westminster yesterday to visit a customer and saw TWO brand new mosques -- one just completed, one nearly completed. Quite striking, high quality construction too.

Cultural comment: If you were to judge our evolving culture by new buildings you would have to to conclude that the hottest trends are Casinos [what I call the new Western churches] and mosques.
Are the sparkling new Casinos all over the continent a sign of desperation? A church for LOSERS?

Posted by: Me No Dhimmi at March 16, 2008 12:07 PM

adding to 12:07pm ...
The locals often abbreviate New Westminster as "New West". Hmmmm.

I don't think there's any way to stop this stuff when they're here. You can only stop it at the border.

I was paying attention during the last election. Hell I'm a supporter of Brad and his government. All I'm saying is tax relief can't come soon enough. A little thing you may not know. People in Saskatoon are paying more for Education taxes for a house of equal value than our friends in Regina. Haw can that be you ask? Well the pencil pushers in Regina have a formula that says Saskatoon's economy is doing better than Regina's and therefore the Provincial Government gives more money to Regina schools on a per student basis. So for Saskatoon to provide the same level of programming they must collect more from homeowners. In fact, Saskatoon gets less than every other place on a per student basis thus we as taxpayers in Saskatoon are subsidizing the rest of the province. Is that fair?

Ontario might have the highest corporate taxes in the country, but that won't stop Dalton McGuinty from creating a new "Climate Change Secretariat" to police his own government's "climate change" commitments.

"a small guerrilla outfit with strong vision that can drive through ministries"

RAMBO!!!!!!

http://tinyurl.com/22rdbw

The job of ensuring that the Ontario provincial government meets its commitments used to rest with the Premier, but we all know how badly that worked out for McGuinty, so bravo, he's hired his very own nanny!

And what is this "small guerrilla outfit with strong vision" going to do?

"Implement eco-license plates - that would come with perks, such as free parking - for environmentally friendly vehicles"

"Fund polar bear research to determine climate change impacts"

http://tinyurl.com/37d8gw

No kidding! Also, no news about what Doofus McGuinty's Jolly Green Rambo will cost Ontario taxpayers.

So we're ready for a Carbon Tax?? Love those Liberals. If this happens, my son and daughter will have careers in the U.S., and I'll spend the next 12 years while they're in school making sure it happens.

For all you dog-lovers out there...found in Nat.Post:
What's a Pooch to do?
Dutch council officials will permit gay sex in public areas, but will fine dog owners who let their pets off the lead in Amsterdam's Vondelpark. The new rules have the blessing of the police, who have urged all Dutch parks to follow Amsterdam's lead, but the city's dog owners are less impressed.Stiff fines will be imposed on owners for dog's allowed off lead.
One dog owner protested:"As long as the park has existed,we've been allowed to let our dogs run freely. It's outrageous that we will be punished from now on,but public sex won't. If they can drop their trousers, why can't I let my dog run loose?"

** A growing Muslim population in Ottawa is fuelling a building boom in mosques that some experts say could change the face of the nation’s capital over the next decade.**

Let*s face it. The parliament buildings are OLD, and should really be morphed into a museum. Ottawa should be given over to Canada*s official history.

We need modern new high-security Parliament buildings and more centrally located too, like say Lloydmininster.

Yeah, somewhere near Lloydminister where the hog farm odours flow. An added element of security. . . eh? = TG

And that's EVEN IF the teacher IS professional and has a program to teach! Public education is public all right--paid for by the taxpayer--but I'm not so sure about the second word.

As the price of oil goes through the roof, people the world 'round are responding.

Here in America many have reduced their driving or traded in their SUV for a hybrid. Others, horror of horrors, have even started taking the bus.

In Vietnam, where many folks have been riding 50cc *motorbikes* for years, the reaction has been to switch to electric versions. According to state-owned e-newspaper VietNamNet, *they are selling like hotcakes.*

One retailer (name not given) interviewed for the story, whose shop is on Vo Thi Sau Street in HCM city, claims to be moving 500 units a month.
That's a lot of scooters, excuse me, motorbikes.

Typically the parts for these machines are originating in Taiwan and China with assembly taking place in Vietnam. Prices are between VND 6-7 million (US$377-$442).

TG, a much better location for the new capital would be just north of Lloydminster.

At Cold Lake, also right on Ab/Sask border.

Can't get better high security protection than the Cold Lake Airbase.

Grew up near there and still like the fighter jet noise when they circle over my place.

And Cold Lake would be perfect for the Commons Ethics Committee when they go off on their 'fishing' expeditions.

Maybe we could wrangle a trip to Canberra or Brasilia to find out more?

Goldwater, the John Birch Society, and Me
William F. Buckley, Jr.

In the early months of l962, there was restiveness in certain political quarters of the Right. The concern was primarily the growing strength of the Soviet Union, and the reiteration by its leaders of their designs on the free world. Some of the actors keenly concerned felt that Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona was a natural leader in the days ahead.

But it seemed inconceivable that an anti-establishment gadfly like Goldwater could be nominated as the spokesman-head of a political party. And it was embarrassing that the only political organization in town that dared suggest this radical proposal—the GOP’s nominating Goldwater for President—was the John Birch Society. ...-

"I must say, I'm a little envious," Bush said. "If I were slightly younger and not employed here, I think it would be a fantastic experience to be on the front lines of helping this young democracy succeed."

"It must be exciting for you ... in some ways romantic, in some ways, you know, confronting danger. You're really making history, and thanks,"

So says Bush, who had the chance to fight those nasty commies over in Vietnam, but instead chose protect Texas, when he wasn't too busy doing cocaine or drinking.

BTW, the fifth aniversary of the invasion of Iraq gives us a chance to remember the brilliance of the Bush administration:

"It is unknowable how long that conflict [the war in Iraq] will last. It could last six days, six weeks. I doubt six months." -Rumsfeld in Feb. 2003

Irwin daisy, the reason there is lots of money in Saudi and they spend it on mosques is the fact that the US and the rest of the world buys so much oil from these troublemakers. They have no end of money because the US and anywhere there are environMENTALists there is no driilling here no drilling there etc. hence you buy from the middle east. Hate the price of gas? Well thank an environMENTAList, their contribution to progress is stalling drilling, stopping new powerlines, stopping nuclear power reactors and any other progress. STUPID BASTARDS

lberia - the actual war was only a few months.

Constructing a democratic and civic state can take years.
The actual WWII war was six years; the construction of a democratic and civic state in Japan took many years; the reconstruction of Germany took many years.

Stopping Islamic fascism and assisting the Islamic states to move into a civic and democratic mode will take years. Would you prefer that this not happen?

johnnyonline,

Excellent article by Hugh Fitzgerald. Should be required reading. I agree with every point. In fact, anybody who has studied the ideology, the texts, Mohammad's life and the monstrous and deplorable actions taken by Muslims over the past 1350 years, would whole heartedly agree with every word. It is only rational and reasonable.

Anything less is cultural suicide, banishing future generations to shame, death and destruction.

Just checked out (surfed by) Goldhawk on CPAC. The issue was, yawn, climate change. The caller was NDP Environment critic, and the two panelists were an official from IPCC and the Director of Climate Change at the Pembina Institute. Yeah right, I wonder what they think? Now there's balance. Perhaps they could have brought in Suzuki for counterpoint (about how fast we dismantle our economy, that is). Oh right, it's about fining "big polluters" and giving the money (no doubt minus 40% government commission) to the people who are "doing something" about energy technology (like China, for example).

Once they convince the public that someone else will have to pay for this, then they will be A-OK.

More pathetic nonsense paid for by our taxes. Next week, stay tuned as Goldhawk, along with Michael Moore and Noam Chomsky,(with call in from Bin Laden), proves Dubya caused climate change by heating up Iraq.

Oh yes, China. Let's see, if there was a riot in US, and ten people got shot to death, would we hear the end of it? What's going on with our media; they've gone beyond simple bias and incompetence to a exclusionary advocacy. Remember when the counterpoint to criticism of the latest third world tyrant was, well the US is no better, right? (Wrong). Now it's only about US being "threat to world peace."

Our media, IMO, as a group, has lost it.
