“A few of my friends joined al-Qaeda, and now they are dead or captured. I never did, and this gives me a chance to keep al-Qaeda from coming back.”Posted by Kate at March 2, 2008 3:29 PM
Sorry about the broken comments. I've been off line most of the day, and this post was pre-written to publish automatically while I was out. For whatever reason, autopublished posts don't always allow comments until I've had a chance to check and rebuild them.
Just an explanation, so that when it happens in the future, at least the regular readers will know what's happened.

We should be doing our part to help also and build internment camps again! Nice one’s of course with running water and floor hockey tournaments (helps integrate). If we're wrong in 70 or 80 years from now we could always apologize and give compensation like we did the Japanese. Everyone's safe & happy, no more worrying about some bus bomb going off in a subway or whatever and we can really enjoy that morning Tim Horton’s coffee.
Posted by: Knight 99 at March 2, 2008 6:20 PMThis is the "militia" that is spoken of in the US constitution's Second Amendment. Local guys sticking up for their local people, locally. Decentralized, spontaneous and self generating mechanism for free men to protect themselves.
Expand that nation wide, you've got the end of Al Qaeda right there. No clandestine fighting group can survive in that environment.
Nice that the Americans grew a neuron and recognized it for what it is, and didn't try to squash it in favor of "official" patrols.
Posted by: The Phantom at March 2, 2008 6:40 PMJust curious.
If a suicide bomber's reward is 72 virgins, what would be the reward for a female suicide bomber?
Posted by: set you free at March 2, 2008 6:49 PMi got a few stares at the checkout counter today as i said a little too out-loudly - "i can't believe this b*llsh*t!"
in the rack in front of me was a copy of rolling stone magazine and three of the top headlines were:
1) why the surge is failing
2) john mccain's lust for war
3) rock rallies for obama
way too glossy - not good enough for the outhouse
Posted by: johnnyonline at March 2, 2008 6:51 PMSame thing, only not at all. eg: 72 premature ejaculating sexual bumblers who want it constantly.

I heard this question asked of an Imam not long ago on a TV documantary. I wish I had a copy. As unbelievable as it was, here is what he said.
"Women martyrs go to heaven where they are serviced by dwarfs".
There was not further explanation, but that comment tells us even more about the extent of the lunacy that those people call their beliefs.
Posted by: John West at March 2, 2008 7:00 PMI might add that it would make more sense that martyred women go to a big room and wait until there are 72 of them, then they get to have sex with some 18 year old whacked-out ali akbar loon forever.
Unless of course, they were not virgins in which case they get to go and intern in Dalton McInty's office to atone.

The reward is zero muslim husbands to beat them nightly!.........

"A Canadian soldier has been killed, by a roadside bomb, outside of Kandahar."
Lest we forget.

That's the official explanation I've heard -- female "shaheeds" "miraculously" get their hymens back so they can service male "shaheeds".
Posted by: jwkozak91 at March 2, 2008 9:45 PMMichael Yon hinted that there may be some fighting left to do in Mosul - the last A-q area left.
After that it is on to Afghan for a surge that will stand up groups similar to Sons of Iraq. It will be a longer process as Afstan is so stunted economically, but it is a process that ultimately will succeed providing the proper small-war counterinsurgency methods are employed.
The US forces are by far the best trained and have the most effective rules of engagement. Hopefully our and other NATO forces can follow their lead.
