The Oscars, liveblogged at Libertas.
Posted by Kate at February 24, 2008 11:42 PMI have not seen the dress in question but if it is made of crows feathers then not enough were used. I hate the buggers.
Posted by: tranio at February 25, 2008 12:25 AMCorvids (crows) are highly intelligent creatures. They get a bum wrap if you ask me.
What would you say if she wore a dress of German Shepherd fur?
Posted by: Doug at February 25, 2008 12:46 AMI guess it's all in the eye of the beholder.
Not that I think Katie Holmes is a babe, but Penelope Cruz does nothing for me (ice queen, mostly), so I'm not sure that the guy who Liveblogged the Oscars got it right. Should Tom Cruise be drooling and regretting his throwing over Penny for Kate?
Last year I didn't watch the Oscars, this year I did. At least the women presenters looked like women (possibly Hillary Swank excepted--oh, and Renee Zelweiger for sure: What's with the pinched face and pasted-on pout?) and dressed for the role--lots of beautiful gowns, mostly strapless. And there was next to no political posturing, which I appreciated: Why should we listen to "Hollywood pundits" spouting lib-left platitudes as though they were some kind of oracles?
'Went to bed too late, though. Still waking up. Where's my coffee...
Posted by: batb at February 25, 2008 7:21 AMThe military personnel that gave out the oscar for the short documentary should give their empty heads a shake. Hollywood is not supportive of the military.
Jon Stewart was simply not funny. Bring back Billy Crystal - or Whoopi - or Johnny from the dead but please no more Stewart.
Posted by: a different Bob at February 25, 2008 8:27 AMBTW I have a suggestion for the Academy - create a new category so that Michael Moore can win an Oscar every year. Call it the "Feature Length Crockumentary". I had to laugh out loud when the person introducing the category of Documentary films and referred to them as "truth" and then included the nomination of Sicko. "Sicko" - quite appropriate indeed.
Posted by: a different Bob at February 25, 2008 8:31 AMone would certainly be enough to beautify THAT johanna factotum.
Posted by: john begley at February 25, 2008 9:11 AMthe only moment that mattered was best original song.
imagine making a movie for $100K, about writing the songs and win coz the songs are GOOD.
Posted by: puddin and pie at February 25, 2008 9:41 AMAll you get from these liberals are long dull speeches and i wonder how many respende quetzals have their long tail feathers yanked out so some hollywood liberal can show off in front of PETA jerks

Posted by: john begley at February 25, 2008 11:51 AMI didn't/don't watch the Oscars, but I must admit that I've never seen a photo of Penélope Cruz and then wondered about getting her INTO a dress.
Posted by: Nemo2 at February 25, 2008 3:21 PMAmazing! Marion Cotillard won an Oscar.
