yeah, instead of dropping the SUN subscription price, they make up a condensed newspaper "24HRS" and give it away.
brilliant marketing!
Accounting comes before Marketing dontcha know
But it's all Conrad's fault! I guess it's lucky that E&P isn't a Canadian outfit, or they'd be blaming Mike Harris, too.
BTW, shouldn't a publication about the newspaper industry know that once a trial's finished, it's usual to report "convicted of stealing/defrauding $6.1 million" rather than still 'reporting' "alleged looting of hundreds of millions"?

Yes, and it's still not worth it. It's without a doubt the most air-headed, insipid, lefty rag I ever seen that tries to diguise itself as a mainstream paper.
The choice of stories and overall slant is geared toward women, gays and celebrity watchers to an absurd degree.
It's completely pathetic.
The brown haired bimbo (can't recall her name)who edits it must be the most self righteous, snotty, cappiccino socialist in existance.
She obviously spent her undistinguished college terms skipping class and engaging in "activism".
"sheesh"
In the past 52 weeks STMG -- which in addition to the woes of nearly every big-city publisher has suffered from alleged looting of hundreds of millions by former top executives including Conrad Black, and from circulation fraud at its flagship -- has traded in a range of 85 cents to $6.94 a share.
Funny how the share price began its steep ascent (from over 10.00) at exactly the moment that Conrad Black was forced to step down. One would think that the share price would ascend if Black was the problem and was removed.
bye bye.
Posted by: old white guy at February 24, 2008 11:50 AMThe only thing Black is guilty of is arrogance. The "american Justice System " leaves a lot to be desired.

Posted by: Jeff Cosford at February 24, 2008 12:51 PMI wonder why Conrad Black chose a Toronto lawyer to represent him in a Chicago courtroom. Must have had a good reason but I cannot figure it.
Posted by: concrete at February 24, 2008 1:13 PMI wonder how many of those minority shareholders that complained to the securities commissions about Conrad and the other are wishing they'd kept their mouth shut and had Conrad running their company today? The Chinese have this wonderful saying "Be careful what you ask for".

LOL,...
Imagine being the A44 who say had 100,000 in shares and clamored to remove Conrad then watched your share value fall from 100,000 to 10,000.
I'd hire extra security knowing I destroyed so many peoples wealth.
I hope this isn't my fault.
