This guy Obama is so slick he is frightening.

That awful media has so poisoned the public's mind against Bush that he's now down to 19% approval - lower than Nixon was at the worst time of Watergate!
It's horrible the way they've fed the public so much false information about Bush that only 19% of Americans now approve of him.
You'd think with the colossal success of Iraq, with the masterful handling of Katrina, with the way Osama Bin Laden's been brought to justice, that the media would let the public know all this, and Bush would receive credit.
But no! That darn media never let Bush get any credit for all the good work he's done - with the result that 81% disappove of their President!
Disgraceful!

Posted by: Horny Toad at February 23, 2008 12:13 AMIf Obama wins the Democratic nomination, the US federal election will be the likes of one never seen before. The melting pot of cultures will be revealed to be much of a sham as Canada's multi-culturalism.
Voting will be along racial lines. Pure and simple. Reason for that...human nature.
The African-americans will come out in large numbers, probably the highest in American voting history, and vote for him. Not because he is one of them, but because of the chance of payback. Revenge. The yoke of the white man finally off for good.
For the hispanic community, hard to tell, depends on the relationship between the black and hispanic communities. In their case it will be a case of voting for the lesser of the two evils.
The Muslim community will probably vote for him, they may see him as one of theirs.
If Obama does becomes president, and the African-americans start become cocky(read that however you may) during his term, do not be surprise that racial divides in America will be most evident, if not more violent. Do not be surprised if the wagons start to be circled.
We may witness the beginning of the end of America.

The standard white supremacist sight contains a lot more honesty
Has anyone noticed that starting about ten days ago, when the MSM discusses the voting patterns of various segments of society, they no longer gave the break down of "Black voters" for Clinton vs. Obama. In the four primaries held Feb 9th, the White vote", was split within the range 55% to 45% while the "Black vote" was within a range of 60% to 75%(Louisiana) always in favor of Obama. There was no discussion about the "Black voters", but there was plenty of talk about racism not being a factor with "White voters". Feb13th(the day after the Chesapeake primaries) was the last day the MSM has given a break down of who "Black voters" supported. On Feb 12th, "Black voters" in the D.C. primary, voted over 85% for Obama, while the "White vote was split within that range of 55% to 45%. It clearly was becoming more and more difficult to explain why such a higher percentage of "Black voters" were voting for the "Black" candidate!

Posted by: Peter(Lock City) at February 23, 2008 1:57 AMPersonally, I don't see what is wrong with an orator practicing his craft. I think he's brilliant and not the empty suit from Illinois. The Republicans do this stuff as well. At least in Canada we lay the 'pork' on the table and make sure those who won't be partaking notice if they aren't on the winning side politically. In America they hide behind words.
Still, if their goofy immigration system had allowed me to stay with a small bit of security n knowing what the hell was going on ... I would vote for this guy.
Heck, he's more conservative than 90% of the Reformers or Alliance guys I had to suffer and he at least spins a good yarn. His book is awfully long winded but if you like 'self help' books or 'get rich' books you'll love it.
Posted by: len at February 23, 2008 4:19 AMIf a person like Obama ran for the Republicans I would be just as unsettled. Anyone who believes they can change the world and bring the kingdom of heaven on earth is dangerous. Human beings are flawed creatures and should not aspire to godlike goals. It always ends badly.
Posted by: Bob H at February 23, 2008 4:47 AMIt seems to me that this is a video about nothing very much except the use of rhetoric. The comparisons of Obama to Malcolm X - as played by Denzil Washington - are offensive enough, I suppose. But the larger theme, it seems to me, is about politics as an appeal to the aggrieved - "Vote for me and things will get better for you."
Sure it's emotional pandering, but show me a politician on any side of any divide who doesn't do it. I think many Conservatives are just pissed off at how well Barack Obama does it. Is he any empty suit? Most likely. But that hardly makes him unique and certainly it does not make him "dangerous."
Posted by: LarryJoe at February 23, 2008 7:36 AMI personally had a lot of problems with Obama until the nature of hope and change was explained to me (on a previous thread here) by the Cardstonkid (I edited this very slightly):
"Of course he has accomplishments. He has been the biggest supporter of hope and change. What hope? Why the hope that causes change!!! And what change does he speak of? The change that gives hope of course!!!
You can't name just one thing he has done since his mere presence in the Senate alone has given the Senate new hope and change that has caused revolutionary changing hope! He has caused a complete 360 degree change in the Senate. Without him the sun might not rise and seeds might not grow. By not supporting Obama you are a racist with no hope, or change."
And so I might add that it doesn't really matter if Obama uses other peoples terms and phrases because it is orthogonal to his central argument concerning the very philosophical nature of changing hope and it's application to the American people.
Posted by: cconn at February 23, 2008 7:45 AMVolik, (and sockpuppet LoserforLife), is it not apparent to you that you are the only ones racializing differences in the candidates here? Ethnic and race-based political demography is a valid phenomenon, however you want to internalize it, but demeaning the players based on race is what you're doing, not the rest of the participants.
How is it you see sufficient racial difference enough to comment pejoratively, while the rest of us try to discuss only the significance of that demography to the process? I'll give you time to look up some the bigger words.
Posted by: Skip at February 23, 2008 7:51 AMObama's speech writing elves are merely combing the annuls of history for their material. Posted by: Davyd Bowen at February 23, 2008 11:16 AMWell, at least when quoting someone from the past, whether written or verbally, it's using someone else's words as your own unless you preface those remarks with "as so and so said........".
Posted by: Liz J at February 23, 2008 11:26 AMIf Obama becomes president he will try to inflict government help upon 'his people'. However since so much of the black community in America is dysfunctional (70% families have no father) and whose only role models are badly behaved sports figures, drug soaked rappers and BMW driving crack dealers, it's not not going have much affect.
When the American Negro who has been waiting for the Obama Messiah for so long realizes that all the various forms of success a human being can achieve comes from withing one's self and not from more government programs ... they will be livid.
If Obama becomes president, there will be a downturn is the affairs of Negroes in America because most unrest comes when 'change' (or the illusion of it) is coming, but not fast enough.
Negroes are far more racist that white people. They never stop talking or whining about it. How often have you heard "The black man in America has no chance" yet the average black man in America now enjoys a higher standard of living than an average white Canadian.
With affirmative action, United Negro college fund, and all the other organizations set up to 'help' blacks in America, why are they still whining? Because, just like our Canadian natives, once you apply special treatment and start the 'enabling' process, it drains any moral strength those folks may have had and makes you (the state) responsible for their happiness and prosperity.
It is the impossible dream. Dreams are fantasies, reality is the only way to true happiness and success. And you have to do it yourself.
Nearly all the Negroes in America are going to vote for the Obama miracle where they will all be getting cheques in the mail and have all their problems solved for them. Wait until they realize that it's all bullshit and Obama is a young inexperienced phenomenon who will fail in office once the back room boys let him read the binder and he then learns that there some rules that can't be ignored and some bigger fish to fry than giving black people 'get our of jail free' cards.
I have no beef with black people or white people for than matter, I just believe that what's going on in America is so racially charged that only bad shit can come of it.
Posted by: John West at February 23, 2008 12:12 PMOne more thing about the accidental messiah .. From TMZ site
"If Barack Obama ends up winning the White House, the first person he should probably thank on Election Night is ... Jeri Ryan. Like, "Star Trek's" Seven of Nine Jeri Ryan? Yup.
Let's explain.
Back in 2004, when Obama was a small-time State Senator from Illinois and running for a U.S. Senate seat, his GOP opponent was Jack Ryan, a super-wealthy businessman who was actually favored in the contest -- and who had gone through a messy divorce from ... Jeri Ryan.
The divorce was a slapfight of Hasselhoffian proportions, and Jeri's allegations that Jack had forced her to go to sex clubs in New York and Paris -- and wanted her to have sex with him in the clubs -- completely ruined Jack's campaign ... and Obama went on to win the seat. And now, perhaps, the one in the Oval Office.
We asked Ryan's rep how she feels about it, but haven't heard back yet."

Socrates would have some 'Questions' for Obama. Why is this roller of vowels never asked any questions by anyone? His supporters remind me of the swooners for Elvis during the 1950s. Elvis did not run for President, however....and he proudly served in the Military. Elvis had talent,
innocent substance, and a kindness that reflected his strong belief in God. Elvis loved his country and the American people.

Posted by: Liz J at February 23, 2008 6:03 PMI dunno...a group might feel disadvantaged cuz they BELIEVE that they are perpetual victims, nothing is their own fault and the goverment has to come to their rescue.

It is always much easier to be helpless, than to quit complaining, pick yourself up off the ground, take responsibility for your actions and fix your own problems.
Unfortunately, that kind of thinking isn't considered "progressive".
If Obama can't present a solid centrist program before November (rather than just push all the leftist ideas he has voted for up to now in Congress), it will be a McCain landslide this fall.

You aren't paying attention ... Black men enjoy a high standard of living because they don't support their families, they abandon them and let white tax-payers foot the bill.
With lower taxation and higher wages in the USA it's easy to see why they have more disposable income. It goes with having disposable families. You troll idiot.

Posted by: Libforlife at February 24, 2008 12:54 AMIf Obama were completely white instead of half white and passing for black, he would never have gotten the time of day in a run for the presidency. He has not run a phone booth.
American blacks are racist in that they are voting for him purely on the color of his skin. If not, their votes should be split with Hillary who is also promising the same Democrat handouts. American lib whites meanwhile are overjoyed at being able to prove they are not racists by voting for a (completely unqualified) black man (and calling anyone who criticizes him a racist). That trumps any desire to prove their feminist credentials in voting for a completely unqualified woman to get her sleazy husband back in the White House.
As for what's behind the demagoguery, it would be better if it were an empty suit. Instead, it's a prime marxist, the most left-wing voter in the Senate, married to a racist black woman with a chip on her shoulder as big as her imaginary victimhood (her hidden thesis is a big whine about how she felt marginalized as a black woman while she was getting a Harvard law degree...we should all be victimized like that).

Like brainiac John's fulmination about "Negroes" above, huh?
Whatevs! ;)
Posted by: volik at February 24, 2008 11:23 AMThe Negro’s want to have representation like anyone else would. Who can blame them? The US is becoming too dysfunctional anyway, so why care now. Used to be a great place to visit but who wants to take the risk, unless you plan a vacation in some fly over state. Old America was a great place and a friend to everyone, New America is fast becoming something to avoid. As often quoted it’s a macrocosm of the world, possibly in the future we can take a pick of any state to visit like it’s a small world Disneyland….
Mexifornia, Little Liberia, Little Saudi, Little Pakistan………..Sounds like a wonderful dream of global unification of peace and brotherhood anyway, and we do like Disneyland so why fight it.
