What is troubling to me is that the weather station was moved to the location knowing that that location met none of the 5 requirements to make the weather station a reliable source for data collection. This means that either the attendants who moved the weather station to this location were either completely ignorant of the basic requirements, or they purposefully knew and planned for the grossly fudged results they would get at this location.

As a laymen even I know what are the basic parameters that need to be met for a weather station location. So sadly, it's the latter to me. Purposeful manipulation of the data collection process to help perpetuate a myth.

The GISS adjusted the readings on their version, lowering the temperatures in the 30's-60's and left the readings post 2000 alone. Who would have guessed that the station was moved in 2000?

What really bothers me about this stuff is that folks who tell us the sky is falling are the same people who adjust the readings. In what other area of 'science' are the experimenters allowed to adjust the data without detailed descriptions of how and what they did?

SW Greenland has the most in 15 years. Plus we are above last year's total Arctic level just a bit. Apparently the predictions that it would not recover did not pan out.

This past summer's ice minima seemed to me to be a shift in the circulation pattern of the northern seas moreso than some indication of rapid global warming. If one looks at the satellite images of the recent thaw it is visible that the ice was already beginning to advance in the Elsemere/Greenland area even as it thawed near the Bering straight. Maybe we are in the last portion of a Pacific oscillation where the north is warm and the south is cold.

A couple of comments:
1. I am confused as to what thaw you are speaking of, surely it is not at Ellesmere Island where at Eureka last night it was -42.7; on Jan7th -49.6; Jan 20th -49.6; or Dec 21st -44.6 deg C.
Nor would of it been in Alaska along the Beaufort where temps reached into the 60s below F with wind chills to minus 85 for much of Jan..
2. Me thinks that we are past the last portion of the Pacific Oscillation.
3. In the Canadian Arctic, the ice has stopped advancing, because, there is no longer any place for it to advance to what with it already being virtually one large sheet of ice.

The polar bears for the most part couldn't even get into the water if they wanted to, to drown. The likihood of them drowning is nil, but freezing to death is another matter.
