Almond Chocolate Bar

Hershey’s fans chanted “Almond Chocolate Bar” as they wound their way down Nørrebrogade in Copenhagen this past week. It’s believed that the use of Almonds in biofuels has made the Danish favorite scarce:

cross posted @ Cjunk

Update: Is Denmark going to be the first Western country to grow some.

So we should stop using almonds to make biofuels and continue to use regular fuel because we all know that wont involve putting more money where ir doesnt belong - Saudi coffers.

sput: who are you calling coffer?

Hmmm food or fuel? That's not such a toughy! In the "information age" we don't need either.

It takes MORE fossil fuel energy to make bio-fuels than they are worth as an energy source.

If bio-fuels are really a renewable energy why haven't Farmers been producing their own fuel the last few centuries ?

Answer; Because they are smarter than the Alarmists in Big Climate.

Interesting coverage of an Aloha snackbar march.....not choc. bars. Good one!

"If bio-fuels are really a renewable energy why haven't Farmers been producing their own fuel the last few centuries ?"

They have. Wood and its derivative charcoal. And been using it for centuries too.

"Answer; Because they are smarter than the Alarmists in Big Climate."

Really? And on what basis can you say that? Apart from an inherent sympathy for, and bais in favor of, farmers.

I should add this link for the readers in case CJunk's humour is misunderstood: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Aloha+Snackbar&defid=2401940

Good one Cjunk!

(p.s., has nothing to do with farmers, charcoal, biodiesel)

The really interesting part about almonds is that about 70 or 80 per cent come from the Imperial Valley in California.
I did not know that.

Due to the bee colony collapse problem, the growers there ran out of bees to pollinate the plants.
And it is now a big expensive business for them to import enough bees for their pollination period.

They have to import bees from anywhere they can find them to get a crop.

You know it is amazing what one (ok me) will watch at 5 AM on a Saturady morning to find this miscellaneous useless information out, ie, US Farm Report on KTLA (Los Angeles).

"p.s., has nothing to do with farmers, charcoal, biodiesel)"

Thanks for that. thought it was Allah reference, but not sure.
Was sure sput was an idiot. No change there.

It's good to see such a like-minded group together in one spot. Such organization is to be encouraged. For future reference.

I don't get what they're saying, though. "Shall a Jew rock star..." what? Do what?

Yeah, about half way through, when the lens zoomed in, I thought, "Hey, there's a woman--hmm, lots of women--in long skirts, wearing hijab: that explained the really belligerent sounding slogan shouting in Copenhagen. (It had seemed out of proportion for people marching for--hello?--Hersey bars!)

Was this about the Danish cartoons? (I just went to Cjunk’s site. Yup.)

Any more information on this?

I was just about to Google "Aloha snackbar". The penny dropped: of course, Allahu Akbar (God is great)!

I'm a little slow on the uptake.

Pay no attention to the mis-information and lies being propogated by the Chocolate-Industrial Complex. No matter how hard they try, they cannot hide the truth, and they will be exposed, in all of their rich creamy goodness.

And remeber, if we eat them over there we won't have to eat them here.

NO BLOOD FOR NOUGAT!

Jay said, "Well at least they stayed on their side of the double yellow line."

LOL I saw that too, but didn't want to give them credit for orderly conduct. But, that's my own short coming. You are a better man than me, Jay and they do deserve that recognition at any rate.

not crossing the yellow lines is encouraging...i always see them as adolescents flexing their muscles.....they COULD be car B queueing but have decided a token demo is sufficient unto this particular day and this particular one mo' time grievance......

they'll grow up and assimilate eventually i reckon but stern measures must be taken...no more muslim immigration whatsoever ...the ones there already stand up straight and look sharp mister !...government must repeat MUST get on the stick of course...and if they don't elect a government that will...

This is an excerpt from David Warren's Ash Wednesday (February 6/08) column in the Ottawa Citizen:

"Since Saturday, I have been intending to write about . . . the latest successful suicide bombing in Iraq -- "successful," in the sense that a hundred people were killed, enough to earn mention in the world press. Bombs went off in two crowded markets, scattering heads and limbs all over the stalls. What made this any different from the standard Islamist atrocity in New York, Madrid, Bali, London, Kabul, Jerusalem, Baghdad, or anywhere? Certainly not the final total of corpses, or the number of mutilated survivors (more than twice that hundred) . . .

"I have a list before me of confirmed Islamist terror attacks since 9/11/01, in Iraq and all over the world. More than ten thousand of them. In Iraq, the number peaked at 478 bombings in 2005 -- an understatment, because multiple bombings in a single location were counted as one event. With point-form brevity, the list goes on like a telephone directory . . .

"Still, nothing special in that, for the Koran-waving zealots choose the defenceless by preference, not only in Iraq but all over the world. It is so much easier to kill defenceless people -- as psychopaths of non-Muslim persuasion realize, even when hitting campuses and shopping malls in North America. For the big death tolls are invariably achieved at locations where guns have been publicly banned, and they know they'll have the leisure to continue their massacre until armed police finally arrive. (That is why crime rates suddenly climb wherever "gun control" triumphs.)

"Not that any armed affiliate of the NRA could have prevented what happened last Friday in Baghdad. For the bombs were concealed on the persons of two exceptionally innocent-looking ladies.

"Both were Down's Syndrome. Quite obviously, they did not know what they were carrying, or why. They were detonated by remote control, using cellphones . . .

"Down's people can be extremely suggestible. They are like children, in many respects, and especially, trusting like small children, even as adults. As the father of a Down's child myself, I can tell you just how innocent they are, and how loving. God made them without guile, and utterly in need of our protection. And in return for that demand upon our decency (Down's children in Canada today are usually aborted), he made them a light in this world. O Lord.

"My friend, who told me to write about this, is himself a man with long experience working for people with mental disabilities. He told me I had to write about this case, because it was the final abomination. He said, "we should have an international day of mourning." He said, "I give up my membership in the human race if these Al Qaeda terrorists are human."

"Yet the truth is, that the use of the mentally disabled to carry explosives -- and of children, too -- is a standard Islamist practice in Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, and elsewhere. So in this respect, too, the bombings at al-Ghazil and New Baghdad were nothing new. An even stranger truth, is that the Al Qaeda terrorists are human, like us. Like their victims. Like the two Down's ladies.

"Today is an international day of mourning, and it is because we are fully human that we need to wear the ashes on our brow."

These deluded, dangerous people mean business and, having lost faith in what really counts, the West's hubris leaves us very vulnerable. Paraphrasing G.K. Chesterton, not believing in anything much (of substance)—feelings have taken the place of reason, common sense, and courage—we fall for anything.

Unless the West drops its “I’m OK. You’re OK” charade, faces the truth, admits its folly, and, in humility—but not without guts—takes strong action to turn things around, we’re toast—and we’ll deserve to be.

“Have mercy upon me, O God, after thy great goodness . . . wash me thoroughly from my wickedness, and cleanse me from my sin . . .But, lo, thou requirest truth in the inward parts, and shall make me to understand wisdom secretly . . . make me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me . . . The sacrifice of God is a troubled spirit: a broken and contrite heart, O God, shalt thou not despise.” Psalm 51

We should try it.

Oh well, here is good news. Thanks Taliban.
Dog torturers go bye,bye.

At least 80 people have been killed in a suicide bombing in the Afghan city of Kandahar - in what appears to be the deadliest attack since 2001.
The blast hit a crowd of people watching a dog-fighting competition.

"Sixty of the martyrs were brought to hospitals and 20 more dead bodies were taken from the site," Governor Assadullah Khalid told reporters.

Oh great! As if the Taliban didn't have enough allies already, now PETA will be on their side.
