Posted by: Doug at February 14, 2008 2:44 AMVancouver writer Terry Glavin has another piece today about the growing controversy at the Vancouver Public Library. The VPL is giving space and free publicity to an overt anti-semite ( a man who has called for the destruction of Israel, and cheered on Amahdinejad ).
They have said that it's about free and open debate etc... In response, Vancouver doctor Joel Shapiro has come forward to ask for the same space to feature 2 discussions - one on the Muhammad Cartoons and another on racism in Islamic countries.
The VPL has no response yet on those requests.

"Steven Koning from Bloomfield, ON, Canada writes: The Liberals have a huge problem within their M.P. ranks. They have Coderre who walks along with Hamas and Hezbollah flag waving marchers while Hamas is showering rockets on Israel. They have Rodrigues who cannot admit that he takes questions for the Ethics Committee hearings written in English by CBC reporter Krista Erickson so he can get on the CBC English National news. They have John Mckay and Wrzesnewsky who are beholden to the Tamil Tigers and other immigrant terror supporting groups in their ridings. Their M.P.'s walk along in BC Sihk parades that revere images of Sihk terrorist leaders who have been associated with the beatings of MP Dosanjh. These MP's don't know the difference between terrorists and freedom fighters for democracy and think that these terrorist organizatios in their ridings need support because they call themselves 'freedom fighter" when the freedom is to cut off people's heads, declare fatwahs and jihads, and attack democratically elected governments in Israel, Lebanon, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. That explains why the LPC is waffling, ziggy-zagging and talking out of both sides of its mouth. Liberals have been co-opted into the terrorist tactics overseas, and we Canadians have to suffer the consequences because the Liberals are sapping our efforts to help the United Nations through NATO to grow democracy in Afghanistan."
Posted by: maz2 at February 14, 2008 8:00 AMFrom today's Wpg.Sun:
Man acquitted in sex-for-cookies case.
A judge has acquitted a Wpg.man accused of sexually assaulting a four yr.old in exchange for milk and cookies.
Justice Perry Schulman said inconsistencies in the girl's testimony and "sufficient strengths" in the accused man's evidence left him with reasonable doubt as to his guilt.
Police arrested the now 24 yr.old man-a family friend who was babysitting the girl-two yrs.ago after the girl claimed he had sexually assaulted her.
At a trial last yr.,the girl told court the man had promised her "SpongeBob cookies and milk...only if I licked his private parts"
Take a read of the rest of the story,at the Sun,and this little one's quite vivid description of what took place. Then, square that up with the esteemed judge's comment about how he 'rejected an allegation of a prior sexual incident involving the man as 'an event of fantasy'
Kate the Great! Catherine McMillan's article, "A Modest Proposal for Curing a Whiny Nation", takes up three quarters of p. A20 of the National Post today. What a very pleasant surprise.
But, watch out: sissies and PETA type bullies are bound to be outraged by Kate's idea of putting labrapoodle pups in the stew during a time of famine. I laughed.
Let's hope the National Post has the cojones to feature Kate on a regular basis. The adult toddlers of this country need some bracing antidotes to nanny's wagon loads of sugar.

One small thing....people who refuse to vaccinate their children, are reacting to the 'whiners' forcing their gov't nanny dependance on their children through unnecessary medical (chemical) interference. Case in point, the Conservative gov'ts backing of the ridiculous (even the doctors can't unite behind it) HPV vaccine in junior high schools.
They rely on their own common sense and pioneer survival attitudes to decide for themselves what is needed for their childrens' welfare. And they should know - many of them have very large, healthy families of the traditional kind.
I don't think you can lump people living on a single income so they can school their own children without gov't imposed 'health' objectives , in with people who want MORE gov't regulation to help them cocoon their kids in a blanket of total dependance on gov't.
Just a small thing.

Posted by: bryanr at February 14, 2008 10:12 AMRae is suggesting to Dion that Dion not try for an election over Afghanistan or the budget, but, later in the spring.
I suggest that the reason is because there's a by-election in the riding in which Rae wants to win; the date is March 17th. Rae wants to win that riding BEFORE a general election is called. If a general election is called before he wins it in a by-election, then, he might not win the riding because of general support for the Conservatives.

Our sources report that the long-sought terrorist was finally dispatched by a small explosive inserted between the driver’s seat and the back seats, which destroyed only one part of the vehicle, leaving the front and rear intact. Mughniyeh was driving alone to a reception marking Islamic Revolution Day at the Iranian embassy in the Romana district.
DEBKAfile’s counter-terror experts note that the way the explosion was set up recalled the method used by the hit team which killed the Jihad Islami senior operative Ghaleb Ghali in Damascus in October 2004. Then, too, Syria held Israel responsible.

November 2008 will be a very good indicator of America's collective mental health. Will She continue further down the road to socialism (taking from the productive and giving to the unproductive)? Or will She return to the fundamentals of Her Founders (untangle from foreign entanglements, individuals reap the rewards from their efforts through less tax)?
