And with a couple of days yet to go, the best month ever;

Thanks, everyone!
Posted by Kate at January 29, 2008 1:12 AMCan we see Kinsella's read outs?
Posted by: John West at January 29, 2008 1:28 AMThank you Kate.
You cut right to the point of things and leave me in awe. or ah , or I don't know but I'm working to get there too.
You're the best, Kate!

Posted by: ron in kelowna at January 29, 2008 2:09 AMNow JW, you're gonna make him cry to the HRC - again.
Pretty great stats for such a 'unbalanced' blog eh?
Great place Kate, and thanks back at ya!
Posted by: ldd at January 29, 2008 2:34 AMI have written here before about how I model dynamic interactive blogs, such as SDA, as pubs, that is to say, private houses open to the public. I have mentioned that the proprietor of the pub is responsible for the selection of the entertainment (or in blogs, the topics of discussion, not that said topics need be entertaining in the frivolous sense), and responsible for the establishment of the standards of behaviour for the patrons, and for the (hopefully rare) invocation of the bouncers in the case of sociopaths or the just plain... well, I won't swear here, let's just say the sub-standard (by the proprietor's standard for the pub, of course, private property is like that).
The reason I mention that is because I think that too many people don't really understand just how much work it is to run a hugely successful pub/blog like SDA. Yeah sure many of us do in the abstract, but do we keep it in mind day to day, comment to comment? How many times have some people here gone nuts over some troll of the day, or indulged in the kind of "I'm angry because you're not angry in the same way I'm angry" shtick, thus increasing the workload that Kate has to shoulder to clean up after the mess?
I wish to thank Kate profusely for Small Dead Animals. And I don't want to get on anyone's case and claim that I know what you should comment (not that that would work). Yet I'd like to take this 66 gigabyte per month moment to remind us all, me included, that we are guests here at SDA! Left or right, theist or atheist, analyst or activist, I think we should try to avoid puking on the floor of this pub. And if somebody else does, perhaps it would be best to just help them get outside and get some fresh air. The way I see it, there's no need to puke on top of them. One just ends up smelling pukish.
Posted by: Vitruvius at January 29, 2008 3:49 AMThank you, Kate, for providing this place.
Posted by: Lori at January 29, 2008 5:34 AMThank YOU, Kate. And thanks to the loquacious Vitruvius for the reminder.
Posted by: Eeyore at January 29, 2008 6:54 AMWell done, Kate. You've set the bar high for the rest of us. Your blog is one of the ones that got me hooked in the first place. Thanks for your dedication and wit.
Posted by: Joanne (TB) at January 29, 2008 7:08 AMKate- Your great! What a grand daily fix to scan your inimitable blog site. You know Rush and others pay their bills by advertisement use, why not help with the bills by posting suitable ads? You are a capitalist, join the rest of us!
"Happy Camper"
Immpressive stats Kate and a personal pleasure to be included in your visitors, page and 'hit' count. I couldn't imagine a day without your incisive wit and occasional cranky humour. It 'hits' the spot for me.
You are great fun and I look forward to being one of your fondest 'hit' men through-out 2008.
I keep coming back here for the content. Hard to find sites that present things in a manner that agrees with my outlook, so when you find one you bookmark it and keep coming back.
Posted by: CanuckInMI at January 29, 2008 7:49 AMIf you didn't offer something different, if you didn't offer up an alternative to the usual spin from the usual suspects, we wouldn't be here.
Thanks for everything, Kate.
Posted by: Mississauga Matt at January 29, 2008 8:00 AMJust have to join in and say thanks to you Kate!Vit has said it so well...and I sure enjoy visiting here with friends around the table. We can count on intelligent discussion, a few laughs and the occasional heated argument.
Posted by: bluetech at January 29, 2008 8:28 AMThanks Kate.
Posted by: richfisher at January 29, 2008 8:39 AMCoincidentally, my own stats have gone up in the last week or two. Some days in the last week are about double the recent average already.
Could be a boost from my own coverage of Ezra Levant's fight against the Liberal Fascists of the CHRC, of Richard Warman, Warren Kinsella... guess my pull-no-punches style brings 'em back for more.
But I continue to be humbled by Kate's stats...
Posted by: The Canadian Sentinel at January 29, 2008 9:06 AMMSM sites like canoe or sunmedia don't get as many hits as SDA .... death to the liberal media
Posted by: Brad at January 29, 2008 9:44 AMyou make a great topping, Ms Delisle 2008
Posted by: puddin and pie at January 29, 2008 9:48 AMKate for President!
I'm amazed what a broad range of topics you find to keep your fans coming back.
I've bookmarked a lot of blogs over the past few years- but there's only a small handful on my list, Kate, and your shall always be one of them.
I do have one little point- how about screenshots of kisella's idiocy, rather than links to his blog? I am quite certain the lion's share of traffic to his site are links from your page here. Screenshots would have the benefit of being able to use Sitemeter down the road and see what his numbers are really like, rather than inflated in such fashion :P
Posted by: otter at January 29, 2008 11:17 AMThis blog came highly recommended to me vis vie a friend, as a newbie this place is a breath of fresh air. You are doing a great job Kate, ta for that.
Canadian Sentinal I also enjoy your blog.
For the poster who wondered what the stats are for Kinsissyla's blog, does anyone ever respond to this tripe and drivel?? I've never noticed any responses only side bar quotes from his apparent fan club of two. His mother and his wife, I guess.
Posted by: Rose at January 29, 2008 11:27 AMAccording to Kinsella, he thinks SDA caters to "...no more than a few dozen of them across the Great White North - wearing camouflage jammies and George Dubya T-shirts, sitting in the dark in Mom's basement, drinking lots of fizzy pop and eating big bags of pork rinds. Drawing from a Rolodex of pseudonyms, they type out post after post of anti-gay, anti-women, anti-Muslim, anti-Liberal, anti-Obama, anti-Democrat, anti-government, anti-United Nations, anti-just-about-everything-thing-you-can-think-of crap. Spit-flecked and jam-packed with spelling and grammatical errors. The closest they've been to a woman in a decade is the big Dukes of Hazzard poster above their bed, the one with Jessica Simpson's Republican ass prominently featured".
This from a clown who represents himself as having some kind of accurate political senses. So is he lying about SDA reality or is he just stupid and ignorant?
My first read of the day, always. Many thanks.
Posted by: BillBC at January 29, 2008 12:18 PMI did not know there were that many extreme right-wing, homophobic, knuckle-dragging, stump-toothed, warmongering, racist, islamophobic, hyphen-hating, bigots in this tolerant nation. And I will bet less than half that traffic is from Lucy Warman (formerly - and presently? - of the CHRC)
(Imagine what you could do with a billion dollars of taxpayer money each year).
BTW - Firefox has claustrophobic and technophobic in their dictionary but not islamophobic...hmmm...give it time.

This is a good place to remind everyone that the Canadian Blog Awards polling closes January 30th, 2008 11:59 PM PST. With the hordes of people who visit SDA, it should be a cakewalk to put Kate over the top.
Go to www.canadianblogawards.ca to vote.
SDA is a contender in three categories
Best Blog
Best Political Blog
Best Conservative Blog
While you're there, please support ClimateAudit in the Sci/Tech category. Of many sites, on both sides of the climate controversy, ClimateAudit is the only one that is consistently rational and actually sticks to SCIENCE while addressing the global warming mania.
Posted by: Zog at January 29, 2008 1:21 PMI would bet that many of the thousands of visits here daily, are Media types. They know they are being mocked and challenged on their shody, slanted Journalism.
Many of us (me included) have had correspondence with some of them.
With few exceptions, they do not even try to defend their positions.
Just generalities, such as; 'but there is a Media consencous'.
No discusion of the points -- just follow the Reuters, AP line.
Then along comes Warren -- and becomes a sda in the middle of the road.
Posted by: ron in kelowna at January 29, 2008 1:45 PMCongratulations Kate. This is my favourite site. I always enjoy your posts and enjoy (almost) all of your posters as well. Keep up the good work.
Thanks also to Vitruvius for his articulate rendering of good standards of behaviour for we patrons. May we strive to uphold them!
Posted by: felis corpulentis at January 29, 2008 1:51 PMKate at SDA, Darcey at Dust My Broom and Steve at Angry in the Great White North, my three "must reads" every day.
Posted by: RobfromAlberta at January 29, 2008 2:01 PM
So, I guess asking Kate to move to Loiusiana is out of the question?
It is sunny and 67 degrees here,,, ;-)
,
Congrats, Kate. I'm with Rob, you're my first read in the morning, then Darcey and Steve. Correction on Ron's comment WK is a sda on the 'left' side of the road not the middle. It's dead skunks that get the middle of the road.
Posted by: Antenor at January 29, 2008 2:40 PMSure puts my 450 page views per day into perspective....lol
I check out SDA and Dust My Broom regularly, so congrats on all your blog has achieved
I especially enjoyed the Calvert comment.
Good on ya' darlin!! Dogs, guns, motorcycles, art and computers....and is a Conservative!!!
I'm still in love!!
Best regards.
Pat
Posted by: Pat at January 29, 2008 2:56 PMlol, I am not so sure WK is dead on the left lane either!
I bet the Carpenter-Types, who put a roof over our heads, have nothing to do with WK's crowd. (too busy working)
Perhaps an Off-Ramp, Basket-Case, Basket-Weaving splat would be a better fit :)
Posted by: ron in kelowna at January 29, 2008 3:54 PMVitruvius:
I like the "Pub" analogy. Bang-on.
We should all make a point of getting together in the Delisle pub one day for a cool one. After an afternoon of shooting gophers, of course...
I'll supply the ammo!
Cheers, Kate, and congrats!
Posted by: Mad Mike at January 29, 2008 4:43 PMAlong with everyone else, thanks, Kate, for giving the rest of us a voice in Canada.
All you have to do is check out SDA to see that there are articulate, informed, savvy--and right--folks "on the right."
'Wouldn't be a bad idea for the sinking...glug, glug, glug...MSM to bring some SDA commenters onto their panels: 'Might boost their ratings.
On second thought, fawgettaboutit. We wouldn't want higher ratings for them, would we?
Posted by: 'been around the block at January 29, 2008 9:07 PMCongratulations and thanks for all the time and money that you put into your superb blog.

Posted by: lookout at January 30, 2008 11:12 AMKate, I became aware of SDA and friend Angry! during your elections- you both covered stuff the laughingly misnamed "watchdog press" either never mentioned, or got around to days or weeks after you both had been on it.
It's my pleasure to link to you whenever I can.
