In a recent discussion I had with an admirer of pop music, I tried to advance the position that "art" requires more than sincerity, feigned or otherwise. I maintained that art has to delight in a way that a good joke delights. Well, I think EBD's post qualifies as a minor work of art.

If I recall correctly, the press of the day generally helped FDR to conceal his handicap, in deference to him and to the attitude of the times toward "cripples."

I swear I didn't create this "Jeff Davidson" character to play an intellectually "challenged" member of the left. He just shows up here on his own - the political equivalent of finding a free case of beer on the doorstep.

That post puts me in mind of the Academy Awards a few years ago. Where Denzel Washington won the best actor Oscar for a very mediocre role in an even less than mediocre movie called "Training Day". Just another story about a cynical bad cop in the big city.

Yet that same year Denzel was up against Tom Hanks for his stunning performance in Cast Away. A brilliant movie about man's survival alone on a small South Pacific island.

There was no competition here at all. Hanks deserved that award, but it was a Male Negroes turn to win (Black woman Halle Berry already won hers). Denzel may have deserved an award for other movies he's been in, but not Training Day and not agains Hanks in Cast Away.

That is one of the most blatant displays of Identity Politics I've ever seen. Even Denzel was surprised and I would say maybe even a bit embarrassed.

I guess the fact that Hanks has already won two previous awards and that he was a white guy was just too much for the politically correct fairness police in Hollywood.

Liberals/NDP and the left in general are racist.

Look at the CBC writing questions for a Liberal MP who they collaborated with to embarrass the government. (The silence from other media is another story - collusion?? Kate?? see anything??)

Look at the US elections, Obama is asked if being black or not being a woman is tougher!!!

If he was a white male it would be: "What is your foreign policy?" and then ostracized regardless of the answer.
