Liberal Fascism

Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning, available at Amazon;

Liberal fascism: The Fondest Dreams of the American Left, available at the Baltimore Chronicle;

The important thing is that we, on the higher ground both actually and figuratively, need to remember that, when they begin their historic migration from their doomed regions, we not give them the keys to the city. They certainly should be offered assistance in their time of need, but we need to keep a firm grip on our political systems, making sure that these guilty throngs who allowed the world to go to hell are gerrymandered into political impotence in their new homes.

There will be much work to be done to help the earth and its residents—human and non-human—survive this man-made catastrophe, and we can’t have these future refugee troglodytes, should their personal disasters still fail to make them recognize reality, mucking things up again.

It should be considered acceptable, in this stifling new world, to say, “Shut up. We told you this would happen.”

Liberal Fascism: Lighting The Way for the American Left available at a Canadian Human Rights Commission nearest you.
I wanted to let you know that linking to non-public officials who may be involved in this process could make things worse. Even if you do not live in Canada, at best it will increase the sympathy of the Tribunal to the complainants. It doesn’t matter if you’re not officially affiliated with Steyn, because they can use it as an example of harrassing behaviour that his articles and books are encouraging.

From the Amazon book description:

Do these striking parallels mean that today’s liberals are genocidal maniacs, intent on conquering the world and imposing a new racial order? Not at all.

Um, yes, they do. It's just not a racial order, it's elitist-socialist order.

Is it only me that fears the liberals. In Ontario a female minister retired. The Parish bought her a licence plate REVJOE (her name was Joane). 10 years later because it is rusted she applied to get a new one. Refused. WHY because the word REV incorages speeding and promotes religion. After an appeal they said REV is a vodka and promotes drinking and driving. Okay an idiot beuracrat but wait. The commitee that decides this is ANONYMOUS and accountable to no one. Question, how many liberal anonymous commitees are there in Canada ????

Great Scott...... this guy is a moron. How could anybody be this stupid and still draw a paycheck?

Posted by: geothermal at December 27, 2007 1:55 PM

I think I can answer that, geothermal. From the author's bio at the bottom of the piece:

"Philadelphia journalist Dave Lindorff is a 34-year veteran, an award-winning journalist, a former New York Times contributor, a graduate of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, a two-time Journalism Fulbright Scholar, and the co-author, with Barbara Olshansky, of a well-regarded book on impeachment, The Case for Impeachment. His work is available at www.thiscantbehappening.net."

As perfect a resume for hysterical echo chamber thinking as I could imagine. All he needs to do is a stint on The View.

Remember one thing, socialists are the runts of humanity. They, for the most part, create nothing, demand everything and are not capable of self-sufficiency. They live off their host as a demanded right. Do as I feel is right and say the same or you are wrong. They flock together for acceptance and direction, on their own, incapable of either. I find them barely tolerable in anything relating to morals, ethics or values, they are but sheep. They do and say as they are told.

I always laugh when they say you conservatives can’t get your act together or you are always arguing, or you can never make up your mind on important issues. Open discussion is part of the decision making process that weak thinkers never grasp. Arriving at an acceptable decision quite often involves a few wrong turns, get used to it. In their minds we are flip flopping, socialists just don’t get it, they never will. Who said, a wise man changes his mind many times a fool never does? The small man thinks in others the great man within himself.

A must have book...put my order in with Amazon.ca (shameless plug for Reisman's competition).

Interested to see if this author has connected the dots between radical left politics growing up , getting affluent and using their corporate affluence and power to drive a globalist form of Lib-Fascism the Hudson Institute has coined as transnational progressivist hegemony.

I actually had a face to face conversation with a strong liberal over the holidays.

I could not believe it when she actually said to my face..."Stephen Harper scares me.."

I asked her why and she could only regurgitate a few CBC'ish mantras.I then asked her to repeat that phrase over several times and asked her if it sounded either overly emotional or irrational to her.

I actually got through to her !!

Too damn bad the blogosphere only attracts those intent on changing other's mind with no interest in reexamining their own beliefs.

Sigh.

Well it doesn't look like The Baltimore Chronicle and Sentinal is an actual newspaper so much as a website that publishes the output of various left-wing cranks. (According to Wikipedia, they used to publish a print edition.) It's kind of fun to read. Instead of the dull, plodding leftism of the mainstream media organizations, these guys hurl wild conspiracy theories hither and thither and trample over reality with wild abandon. Don't miss the coverage of Venezualan democracy hitting a 'speed bump' several weeks ago. Hours of entertainment.

Within the lifetime of his two cats Dave Lindorff is going to look exactly like the idiot tool he is.

His wife or boy friend will be forced to wear and Burka long before Florida has a high water problem.

This proves once again, that for many people the more education you get the stupider you become.

If you are referring to this:

"...a graduate of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism..."

then you must remember not to confuse the possession of a degree with the possession of an education. Liberalism does not necessarily require a synergistic coupling of the two.

Posted by: Yoop at December 27, 2007 3:29 PM

For many people the more education you get the stupider you become.

That is certainly true for a liberal arts education.

The more educated that people become, the more they realize how much knowledge that is out there and thus, how ignorant they truly are in the face of that.

Not that Jeffy would understand that. He and education are mutually exclusive.

Posted by: Lycan Stark at December 27, 2007 3:42 PM

I sort of wonder what awards Lindorff has actually won. The passage excerpted here wouldn't have passed muster in my English class as a freshman in high school. "The important thing is that we, on the higher ground both actually and figuratively, need to remember". "The important thing is that" is absolutely unnecessary. Two sentences out of four are in the passive voice; three are far too long, if not, strictly speaking, run-on.

If the administration of Columbia's Graduate School of Journalism had any shame, they'd be weeping over this.

The number one agents promoting Liberal fascism in Canada are our broadcasters. They cover Britney's sister's baby, and a no-death fire in Baltimore, and fender-benders in Germany, yet they comprehensively avoid mention of the CHRC, and constantly reiterate, in effect, that those scientists who actually look at the data, and come to different conclusions than the politicized fraudsters, have no credibility and/or don't exist. It's an unconscionable lie to silence the truth-tellers who go against the political gain, or to call them discredited liars, and to silence them. CBC/CTV's hiding of the truth, in the name of political gains for the lib/left, has been a huge political victory for the Liberal fascists.

It's not unlikely that at some point in the not-too-distant future those who attempt to speak the truth about the climate-fraud industry will be brought before some equivalent of the CHRC. If quoting a Norwegian Imam is a thought-crime punishable by state agencies, why wouldn't AGW deniers be considered even worse criminals?

Thank god for the tireless work of Kate and others like her. The CHRC and the AGW scam gets traction through the additive force of the angry disinformed who don't know what they're talking about. These people demonstrably fight for what they think they know, but it's based entirely on the propaganda that's been drummed into their heads.

In a democracy, there's always a danger that these people will vote in numbers sufficient that those who do know what they're talking about will be suppressed. If the European enlightenment ends up being crippled it will be through the agency of those foot-soldiers who are *educated* through the medium of mass propaganda. At one end of the spectrum of these people will be the well-intentioned who have simply swallowed the propaganda whole, in the name of some goodness, and at the other end will be transparently malicious, lying misanthropist losers like Dave Lindorff.

The majority of the new-order foot soldiers will right smack in the inane middle, disseminating blandishments that, although weakly held, will, when collectivized, be sufficient to change the world.

Want to grasp the general form of the ostensibly harmless enemy, i.e. the meat puppets?

Had a similar discussion with my stepdaughter a couple of years ago. While holding a glass of my Dom, she tells me that, "I feel Bush is evil." I asked her after she got around the emotions, what specifics lead her to think that. She then went on to say that she couldn't defend her feelings [NSS] but if I met her half-sister, she would give me the facts. Good grief. This is an assistant professor at two reputable institutions in Colorado. If I was responsible for foisting mindless drones of this nature on the country, the shame would be unbearable.

Posted by: Doug at December 27, 2007 5:19 PM

Well Doug, we were not far off a one party system for most of our history in this country. It's been Liberal for most of it.
In recent years we've been reaping about the same results as one would expect from a fascist regime.

The behaviour we witnessed in the Chretien/Martin era brought enough people to their senses somewhat, at least enough to elect a Conservative minority.
It will only get better when enough get their thought processes up to speed and elect a Majority Conservative government, with the best leader this country has seen in many decades, Stephen Harper.

"The number one agents promoting Liberal fascism in Canada are our broadcasters."

They are in large part responsible for selling liberal fascism (actually statist socialism...nothing "liberal" about it)as "democracy"...and hiding this monster's many many warts.

In this nation bad government could not exist without the media's full support....If we hold that the medium is the message, Marshall McLuhan would probably state the modern Canadian MSM may be entirely responsible for the grossly errant and degenerate mess society has become at the hands of social engineering statism and its jurocracy....because the media is an extension of it....a voracious and vindictive nanny state which enslaves her foundlings so they can be "secure"...all packaged under the twin banners of "liberalism" and "progressivism".

Posted by: WL Mackenzie Redux at December 27, 2007 5:51 PM

Hopefully this book will get some publicity, but anyone who has pondered the significance of the term "national socialism" is well aware that todays "liberals" are just recycled national socialists. It is surprisingly how little recognition is given to the extremely progressive public health policies of Adolf et al and especially the current war on tobacco. Hitler had an extreme dislike of tobacco and smokers and would have been at home in any current Canadian city council when the topic of how can smokers be further humiliated comes up again. I highly recommend reading Proctors book "The Nazi war on cancer" (available at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Nazi-War-Cancer-Robert-Proctor/dp/0691070512)
or for those who don't feel like reading the whole thing, Pierre Lemieux has an excellent review of the book (http://www.pierrelemieux.org/artproctor.html).

I disagree, only slightly, Hitler's squeeze smoked to the END, which makes his dislike just B.S. hype.

The Anti-Tobacco campaign was used to Condition/Control PLL to unquestionably follow orders (children turning in Parents Etc) and Fund the War Machine (12 % of Economy).

You've got to love it, the classic liberal's thought processes exposed, what-I-feel-must-be-right. I'm convinced that you can divide humans into two groups, the logical, reason, and empirical based and those that process their world through feelings. IQ means nothing in this equation. I can excuse the 20 year old college kid, but, the 30 something and beyond are just stuck in a form of narcissism, a personality based dysfunction.

The safe sanctuaries for these folks are the, no surprise, MSM, college faculties and the arts, the typical venues where the narcissist can feel their reality unchallenged.

Are these little lefty's fascists?, you bet, like small children are fascists until good parenting and life's realities intervenes. The 60's dysfunctional culture and decades of affluence until 9/11 had left these creatures unchallenged. Their counterpart is the Islamofascist, I-feel-therefore-I-kill when angered. No surprise that the angry left have sympathy with the angry Islamofascist. It's all about feelings after all.

Good point...public education was subverted by a transnationalist progressivist agenda in Dewy's day onward and now no longer represents education but indoctrination...the media and the public education systems are 2 prongs of a 3 pronged approach to subverting constitutional democracy with socialist statism (nowadays known as liberalism)..the more virulent political entities of this neo-liberalism spread their messaging/conditioning through the public education systems...where we foolishly surrender out children to the trust of "political indoctrinators".

The book Liberal Fascism is an appropriate title, socialist fascism is a better description of the phenomenon, though Americans seem to prefer liberal as opposed to socialist for some reason. Godels theorem can not apply as a constant, nobody could make a decent argument if a situation required such. Apparently it applies to Hitler and Nazis so far as anybody can tell, though it can not eliminate a valid point.
The Philadelphia ‘journalist’ is very confused sort of a fellow traveler. The ‘journalist’ is full of hot air ‘just sayin’ in a fact free form. Clearly going to school for a long time should and is beneficial most of the time, though some as much as they try don’t seem to derive any benefit from it. Of course engineering is mostly beneficial and graduates must actually know engineering to get their iron ring. There are those that for some reason don’t grasp the reality, though those are few. In humanities, that is another story, it is mostly hot air and that ratio that benefit is almost opposite of that in engineering. They can spin it better though. So there you have it.
Steyn’s comment ‘Here's my bottom line: I don't accept that free-born Canadian citizens need the permission of the Canadian state to read my columns’, is one hundred % accurate, the only thing to be added would be ‘or any columns what so ever’.

"Socialist fascism" would work, even "conservative fascism" (under certain assumptions).

Anyone who equates liberalism with fascism needs to read up on history and the history of ideas.

"Liberal" and "Conservative" now mean precisely the opposite of what they meant 100 years ago. Or hell, even 50 years ago.

I think this is because Ivory Tower commies needed a nice sounding code word for being a commie and something mean to call people who retained a lick of common sense.

"Progressive" doesn't mean anything at all anymore, so far as I can tell. Liberals say it almost randomly. I guess it means "Whatever bullsh*t Jose believes this week."
