Oh hi, it's me again, Vitruvius. I have a 1.8 MB x 1034 pixel wide x 7859 high image I would like to upload somewhere to share with y'all. I tried my little blogspot thingy at the link below, and I tried my KeepAndShare account, and they all scale the image down to a smaller size than the uploaded original, which defeats my purpose.
Does anyone know of a free public site where I can upload such an image in a fashion that results in a URL that y'all can then simply pick to view the full-size image? If detailed instructions are necessary, perhaps you could use my email account at the bottom of my web page. Thanks.

The Premier is broadly hinting that there are big problems projected for Saskatchewan's finances going forward. Calvert is beside himself that he has left the province with a 2 billion dollar cushion. Someone should tell the civil servants in the Finance Department. They are projecting increasing deficits for the next four years. The amounts that Premier Wall and his Finance Minister will announce next week will make us all reel. It looks like Calvert's spending spree of the last 12 months is coming home to roost. The NDP government of the last 16 years never had a revenue problem. It is obvious that they had a really bad spending problem. Like he lied throughout the campaign, Calvert is again lying through his new teeth about the province's books.

...[T]he boom in Sharia finance...is fueled by trillions of petro-dollars that major financial institutions and Wall Street believe may be the mother lode of deals and lush transaction fees to replace the collapsing sub prime mortgage and sagging private equity market deal flow. Why not. With an estimated $1.5 to over $2.0 trillion in funds from oil with prices nearing the historic inflation-adjusted high of $102 a barrel, what’s a good banker to do, but chase after it and throw a bear hug around it. Major money center banks like Citigroup, HSBC and Deutsche Bank are salivating at doing deals with Sharia compliant financial institutions with over $500 billion in assets and growing at an average compound growth rate of 10% per annum. The price of this will be creeping adaptation of Sharia finance in usual and customary transactions in both Islamic countries and even here in North America. The Times article notes the hiring of Muslim Scholars at $100,000 a throw to deliver legal opinions on what’s Sharia compliant or not....
The NYT article underlying the blog entry is here: Adapting Finance to Islam.
Layton getting in on the Act
Layton is now appealing to the Govenor of Montana.
Dion & Layton are saying that Canadians are against the death peanalty & the Ottawa Citizen in todays article uses a recent Harris/Decima national poll stating most Canadians are opposed.
the poll shows 50% opposed while 43% are in favor, It does not say in the article how many Canadians were polled,When & where. So if it is the usual 1000 people Does 1000 people translate to Most Canadians?
I don't know about anybody else but I have never been asked the question.
Now i have a few questions, this is a confessed dual murderer that has been on death row since 1982, How many times were the liberals in power since then?, How many times did the Liberals appeal to the Gov't of Montana? & Why now are they appealing for a stay of execution?
Are the liberals & now the NDP using this execution of a convicted killer of Citizens of another country In their country for political purposes Only?

bryanr - exactly right. This man has been on Death Row for over 20 years, and the Liberal Party formed the Canadian government for the majority of that period.
It said nothing, ever, about this man and his sentence. Nothing.
Suddenly, with Harper in power, the Liberals have become all worried and flustered; they've written to the Governor of Montana, declaring that they, the Liberals, speak of all Canadians, and ask that the sentence be commuted to life in prison. Because he's Canadian. He's different under the law.
The NDP, not to be outdone in the perception of the latte crowd, have jumped on the bandwagon.
But the real issue is - where were the Liberals with this issue for the past 20 years? When they formed the government? Where?
As with all other issues - Kyotoism, Mulroney-Schreiber and this, Dion shows us that the Liberal Party has No Policies. It operates only within the current Tabloid Topic of the Day.

seems the top line is missing off the leader board.

I wonder about Dion. Is the man simply so egotistical that he can't see reality? Or is he trapped within the utopian rhetoric of academia that he can't see reality? Is it both?
Or, does he see/know something that the rest of the world doesn't? He is so sure that he, Dion, is the Right Leader, and that he, Dion, will be the Next Prime Minister, 'if only there were an election'. His certainty ignores polls, ignores every MSM pundit who all, despite their being predominately Liberal, define Dion as a 'wet sock'.
He's certain that in a 'head-to-head' confrontation (eg, the televised debates?) he will 'beat Harper'. He's certain he will return the Liberals to their rightful place as the Natural Governing Party. I must admit, that certainty is unnerving. Either he knows something or he's demented.
The Liberals want an election in February, before the govt can table its new budget. But heck, the govt doesn't have to table its budget in parliament for its contents to be public. It can do so as part of its election package - and inform the public that the Liberals are preventing Canadians from access to the delights of this new budget.
And since these items will not be empy election rhetoric, like Paul Martin's bribes to the public during his election campaign, but instead, carefully thought out, financed and grounded fiscal items, they will be solid offerings rather than empty bribes.
The Liberals are attempting to smear Harper by linking, wildly, Mulroney-Schreiber with Harper. That's impossible. Guilt by association is a contemptible agenda.
Saner minds are already speaking out in the MSM against an inquiry, against the Liberal behaviour, defining them as on a witch-hunt, as degrading parliament..etc..
Dion has already had to abandon his empty Kyotoism. He's nowhere in Quebec. He has no policies. His 'attack on poverty' is typical political rhetoric. Every politician has that agenda - and ignores that in a robust economy, there are natural scales of wealth.
These scales will always exist. from low to high. That means that anyone who is 'low' can be called 'poor', despite in reality, not being without the basic and more qualities of a middle class life. Dion's definition of his family as poor shows us how ignorant he is about the definition of poverty.
Furthermore, Dion is ignoring a very real problem with his party. That problem is the NDP, which is rapidly morphing into the wolf gobbling up the Liberal sheep. The NDP has the agenda of becoming the official opposition. Now, that's a possibility.
Are the Liberals going to let Dion go for an election, to lose, so that they can get Rae in as their next leader? Where's the Ignatieff camp? How long can Ignatieff go on as Deputy beside a Dion and his juvenile name-calling in the House?
Posted by: ET at November 23, 2007 11:46 AMCan somebody help me with this as I've got a problem with the latest Dion/Layton position. Here are two gentlemen(?), that are pleading for clemency in a foreign jurisdiction for a convicted murderer, and at the same time they both espouse the view of Pro-Choice. So they are alright with government sanctioned murder of innocents but don't think it is right for governments to sanction the murder of criminals? No wonder Harper didn't take them on the latest international junket, they are an embarrassment to Canada on the international stage!

ET: are the liberals going to let dion go for an election,to lose.
Yes they are, the liberals know that they are in big trouble & i agree not only with the Conservatives but with the NDP.
They know that when they lose an election they will not only get rid of Dion(at the expense of the taxpayers) they will be trying to save face too. They will use the exuse that canadians would not adapt to Dion. The liberals desperately need to buy time to get Rae, Kennedy, Trudeau & Ignatief in postion for a major party shakeup, they also need to buy time to get their finances back in order, in order to launch a major campaign.
Are they willing to chance losing official Opposition status? Yes i believe they are willing to take that chance knowing that it will take a number of years to rebuild.

bryanr - yes, nice point. The Liberal's only way to get rid of Dion, is to yet again, make use of the taxpayer's money.
Remember, they made use of the taxpayers' money during Chretien's era, to fund their campaigns in Quebec. That's many millions of dollars that they laundered via fake Show The Flag campaigns when the money was really being used to fund their electoral riding expenses.
Then, they (Chretien) accused Mulroney - the first time - and the taxpayer, yet again, was on the hook. Two million dollars to pay Mulroney's lawyers.
And, Martin, in his desperate attempt to define himself as 'not part of Chretien's Gang of Crooks', fired quite a few of that group. And now, the taxpayer, yet again, is having to fund the Liberal Follies.
Now, Dion, in his attempt to besmirch Harper, is playing a Guilt By Association folly. He's in cahoots with Schreiber, whose agenda is to stay out of Germany, to accuse Mulroney, yet again, of nefarious deeds. Dion doesn't give a damn about Mulroney. Or Schreiber. He's trying the Guilt By Association tactic to smear Harper. Anyone who, at any time, was in the same room as Schreiber, who ever talked to him, who ever shook his hand, is Guilty.
Guilt by Association. Wasn't one of Dion's three planks in The Dion Agenda (besides Kyotoism and Unity)..wasn't one of these planks all about Social Justice???
Is defining someone as guilty without a trial - is that Dion's Social Justice? That's a violation of the sacred Liberal Charter.
Is violating the Charter - is that Dion's Social Justice?
Is defining someone as guilty by association - is that Dion's Social Justice? That's also a violation of the Charter's freedom of association. Not for Dion. Guilty by Association.
Dion The Demented, thinks he'll win in an election. The backroom boys hope he'll lose. But, I doubt if they want to lose Official Opposition status.
I'm beginning to suspect that they are trying to make the best of a terrible situation.
They have to get rid of Dion. The only way is via an election. BUT - the longer they wait, the more the NDP will be, not merely nibbling, but swallowing their electoral base. They might like to wait, to get more money, to try to get a team together - but - their worries are not only the Conservatives. But the NDP. I think they weren't taking the NDP threat seriously before. Now they are. That's why, I think, they want to go in February.
So, their current agenda is to Smear Harper by a despicable tactic: Guilt by Association. However, how are they going to deal with the NDP - who are already talking over, through, and under, the Liberal squeak.

Posted by: Me No Dhimmi at November 23, 2007 2:00 PMA big Second Amendment case coming before the US Supreme Court soon is the 1976 Washington DC gun ban. I thought these stats were interesting:
Illegal guns continue to be widely available in the district; criminals have easy access to guns while law-abiding citizens do not. Cathy L. Lanier, Acting Chief of Police, Metropolitan Police Department, was quoted as follows: "Last year [2006], more than 2,600 illegal firearms were recovered in D.C., a 13% increase over 2005." Crime rose significantly after the gun ban went into effect. In the five years before the 1976 ban, the murder rate fell to 27 from 37 per 100,000. In the five years after it went into effect, the murder rate rose to 35. In fact, while murder rates have varied over time, during the 30 years since the ban, the murder rate has only once fallen below what it was in 1976.
A good write up at the WSJ on this case.

Posted by: OMMAG at November 23, 2007 3:07 PMDion and Grit "strategy" seems pretty clear to me - smear Tories with fake scandal (they are outraged, outraged I tell you) to accomplish two goals - freeze parliament to prevent Tories from governing, and leave impression in minds of voter that Tories are corrupt "too." Then they can defeat government on confidence in February because, apparently, Tories aren't getting anything done. Problem is their leader is a non-starter as PM, they're dead in Quebec and will be, at best, reduced to large city enclaves which, while possibly denying Harper majority, have no hope of forming government.
Funny, though that KHS needs to go home to organize his material. That didn't stop him before, why now, this time, is that important? The answer is pretty obvious - KHS is playing for time, hoping to be freed here before he can be extradited.
Liberals have stepped in it bigtime by colluding with this guy. Witness Thibualt being slapped down on ethics committee because he is in conflict of interest with Mulroney suing him.
If Thibault complicit with KHS in plotting his stay in Canada, then it will come out. Why, because the Tories want it, but so do the other parties, especially the NDP who want to become the official opposition after next election.

Naturally the Liberals are supporting him. They are collaborating with him. In return for their support to keep him out of Germany and his criminal trial there - he will 'find' or 'manufacture' evidence against Mulroney AND somehow, LINK Mulroney to Harper.

It looks like Canada is holding up "talks " at the commonwealth meeting. The problem is the setting of hard targets on emmisions . If Canada agrees to this crap what will it cost us the txpayers when the targets are not met and who would the money go to??

Beware of GAP Adventures
Because of the poor planning and the lack of preparation on this itinerary, omitting items from the itinerary because of an oversight on their part, and the complete unwillingness to work with their customers to resolve problems, I would certainly recommend that fellow travelers not book any trip of any kind with GAP. ...-
Message # 7:
Here's something I just posted to GAP's Watering Hole forum. Quite honestly, it scares me that this info is missing and I would never travel with them again because of this HUGE oversight...
Dear Perspective Kili [Mount Kilimanjaro] Klimbers,
Having guided for over half a decade and having watched GAP clients shell out significant amounts of additional money at the base of the mountain, I feel it it is my duty to every other person who goes up that hill with GAP to be as informed as possible; even if GAP chooses not to do so.
As you begin to wonder if "you can really do it" or you make that final click to submit your information (and first of many payments to GAP), please be aware of something that GAP shockingly (and possibly criminally) does not emphasize enough about this trip: it's cold up there.
Duh, right? Of course it's cold up there - 5,895 metres (19,341 ft), tallest free standing mountain in the world, highest point in Africa, etc etc. Snow generally begins to fall well below 8,000 ft so one should certainly expect it to be cold, right?
Then why is it that GAP doesn't recommend a *single* piece of warm clothing in their Marangu trip dossier? In fact, the word "cold" is only used ONCE in the ENTIRE dossier and that single instance describes the silly huts you sleep in. ...-

Cruise ship sinking in the antartic, after hitting ice. Guess they believed algore/suzuki about all the ice melting. Didn't a female team have to be removed from their attempt to conquer the pole, because they were surprised to discover it was cold up there.

I think the Liberals are backing off from an inquiry into Mulroney-Schreiber.
Both Duffy and Newman, Liberal pundits, are saying that there might not be any need for a inquiry; that the Ethics Committee can 'ask all the questions'. What's going on?
I suspect they don't want an inquiry where the scope is held by an impartial judge; they want to retain control of the questions and scope. Their sole agenda has nothing to do with Mulroney/Schreiber, but to besmirch Harper; they can't do that with a regular inquiry.
And what about this February election? Wierd. Silly Jane Taber was saying 'before the budget' which doesn't make sense; the Conservatives could simply use the budget as en election platform.
She excitedly told Duffy that 'the Liberals have everything now!!!" 'They have Mulroney-Schreiber; they have the In-Out scandal; they have the Death Penalty'!!!! Poor Jane. She thinks these are all 'meaty issues' that show the corruption and impoverishment of the Conservatives. They are empty - all of them.
The first has nothing to do with Harper. The second is done by all parties. The third -hmm, this man has been on death row for 20 years; the Liberals never did a thing about him. So?
Craig Oliver, for once, said something of sense; he reminded her that the Liberals Have No Policies.
I think the Liberals want an election asap, before they are swallowed by the NDP. That's who they are really afraid of...

The Answer: Mankind's Choice.
1. Death. Abortion, euthanasia, assisted-suicide, sterilization, aka eugenics, genocide, suicide, drug usage, e.g. free marijuana, free drugs, etc.
In one word: nihilism, aka death.
2. Life. Jesus said: "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." - Bible; Book of John; Chapter 10; Verse 10."

Former British Government Advisor Applauds World Population Collapse
LifeSiteNews
SYDNEY, Australia, November 22, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A former advisor to the British government and past president of the Royal Society, Professor Lord Robert May, has called “encouraging” the fact human fertility has fallen below replacement level around the world.
Speaking to a meeting of the Lowy Institute in Sydney Australia on November 19, Lord May was quoted by The Australian saying that human populations must continue to fall for the sake of the environment. A priority, he said, was continued “education” of women to teach them methods to have fewer children through artificial contraception. ...-

It's a developing story but it seems that Transport Canada is now sending out notices to people to export their purchased vehicles out of Canada. So much for the "fair and equitable" solution promised by the Minister of Transport.
So ole JC thinks Canada has lost its 'cool'. Well JC hate to break it to ya but the cool you so fondly remember stopped being cool before the turn of the millenia. Canada has a new cool that Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver haven't caught on to yet. Part of it is Self Control, Self Reliance, and taking personal responsibility for your family, friends and neighbours. It is summed up in these few words, "NOT ONLY IS CANADA WORLD CLASS IT IS BEST IN THE WORLD". Now that is COOL.
