Television has become a vast wasteland of bad comedy and unreliable news. I will be happy to see it's demise.

Posted by: John West at November 13, 2007 12:19 PM

I've stayed away from the boob tube for, oh, about four years now and get my news exclusively from the net. I know I am not alone. Nothing really new with this report other than the MSM acknowledgment.

This news does not bode well for the Big Brother concept of the Eurotopian Nanny State because the internet cannot be controlled. Why do you think China wants control of the internet? Why does the UN want control of the internet?

Besides, Europe (as that is its only remaining capacity) will fall back into old ways and will experience a white supremacist backlash against Islam that may also serve to keep Eurotopia in check, ultimately dooming the EU concept.

Good riddance, commies.

For me television is for sports and movies. I must say that it bugs me that I have to get some of my sports from CBC. That network should be completely prohibited from competing with private networks when it comes to televising sports.

I get some of my news from Fox. I find that they report stuff the others don't.

John West is absolutely right about the bad comedy and unreliable news. To those I would add: execrable "reality" programming, slanted documentaries and way too much crime scene investigation and other bruckheimer schlock.

I must say we do continue, from time to time, to watch Peter Pansbridge and "The National" at our house, but consider it to be in the "bad comedy" category.

We have not had access to broadcast television in over a decade. Don't miss it. Don't know how others have the time; we have full days as it is.

"comedy":

CNN recently warned views not to eat or "inhale" their iPod earphones. Cuz like that could be hazardous...

Is there any hope of privatizing CBC? I'm thinking more and more it should just be disolved.

Turning away from TV?? Could this be an "unhooked" generation???..Free from the slime?

I am gross and perverted
I'm obsessed 'n deranged
I have existed for years
But very little has changed
I'm the tool of the Government
And industry too
For I am destined to rule
And regulate you
I may be vile and pernicious
But you can't look away
I make you think I'm delicious
With the stuff that I say
I'm the best you can get
Have you guessed me yet?
I'm the slime oozin' out
From your TV set

I have not watched much TV in years. I get all my news via the internet also Doug. My husband and I do like to watch a little TV when we have our dinner. I have found the fare then to be very slim pickings, would like to watch the food channel but all they have on over and over is "resturant makeover". This is what you get when the CHRC takes over on you. There are not enough Canadian cooking shows and God forbid we get corrupted with "American Style Cooking"!I really do find it tough to eat while watching CSI!!

The new "Not Waiting for the Asteroid" dinosaur looks far too healthy.

He's the dead tree dinosaur's younger cousin.

To see what ...

For decades and decades I made a point of watching the CBC nightly news, even though I knew it was biased and slanted and dumbed-down. I was and am a news junky.

With the advent of the Internet and blogs I realized just how bad Peter Mansbridge and his flock were/are.

I can honestly say I have not watched The National in at least three years.

Is it true Mansbridge is giving a talk in my city next week ? Why ? Who invited him here ?
