"When buying and selling are controlled by legislation, the first things to be bought and sold are the legislators." - P J O'Rourke

'The two enemies of the people are criminals and governments, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first." -
Thomas Jefferson

Why do Canadian politicians and Canadian judges have so much trouble understanding what Jefferson was talking about?

Most Albertans make a living don't give me this crap we're gonna be rich. That's what my friend who's a tory tells me. Funny thing is he's made more money in his buisness under the NDP than he ever made under Devine.

Posted by: ok4ua at November 5, 2007 5:40 PM

ok4ua - Your friend was probably the supplier of signs to the department of highways that says "BROKEN PAVEMENT - NEXT 15 KILOMETERS" For sure he would make more money under the NDP than under Devine.

It also could have been a time-coincidence. They typical entreprener is independent enough of politics to ford ahead when the legislature isn't to his or her liking.

This party was created to protest young people not being able to vote or hold office. Young people feel alienated and excluded from the political process. It was not intended to promote any political party. However the way we went about this has actually harmed the cause we started out to promote. We now realize that the way the message was portrayed by us was a serious mistake and we are sincerely sorry for any harm caused. Hopefully our new found notoriety can be used to refocus our energies and the discussion on the issue we first intended to deal with.

The streets are paved with gold and no one ever grows old. You're in the land of the little people. Little swarthy people of rich Alberta.Go ahead with your story I'm a great BSer myself but I'm listening.

An anonymous apology, that'll go over big.

"Because we don't want to be rich like those dirty Albertans."

Bwahaha. Good one....although I might've substituted 'dirty' with 'stoopid'. ;)

Hey ok4u, pie in the sky socialist ideology, coupled with your unhealthy jealousy of Alberta will buy you a hot cup of jack squat.

Chill out man, don't give yourself a coronary. Lorne has no doctors to tend to you anyway.

Posted by: Eskimo at November 5, 2007 9:37 PM

Vote for Lorne because...Outmigration of everybody but Dipper hacks and union goombahs makes Saskatchewan great.

Posted by: felis corpulentis at November 5, 2007 9:54 PM

ok4u - "Little swarthy people of rich Alberta."

"Swarthy" means "Nixon's five o'clock shadow", "dangerously mischievious", and in other contexts -> Eastern Europeans, my Polish brother.

From an independent-minded Ukrainian to a Polish socialist minority: "Brats'vo i Yednist'vo - Brotherhood and Unity".

Thanks Toontown - on 2nd thought, Had I used the term 'Filthy Albertans' it would have had better effect - but it was still early and I still groggy when I sent that off to Kate.

Posted by: Mark R at November 5, 2007 10:19 PM

Alberta where everybody is rich?? Who the hell are you trying kid. We have the highest per capita of millionaires in Canada. Look it up if you dare. WE are first in grains,2nd in beef,1st in potash,2nd in oil,top 10 in mining. top 10 in manufacturing. Our wages are getting there. We are now a have province. What the hell can the SaskATory party do but ruin it?

Posted by: ok4ua at November 5, 2007 10:52 PM

How about having a pasta-making factory? CAN'T - because of the CWB.

"We have the highest per capita of millionaires in Canada." -- Per capita because the population hasn't moved up much since 1960.

I do know that the 1986 election was for 64 seats, not 58.

Posted by: ok4ua at November 5, 2007 10:52 PM

That indeed is impressive. Out of all those Canadian provinces, Saskatchewan made it into the top 10!

BTW, does your government job require you to work with numbers? Just asking...

Re-elect Lorne Calvert: $275,000 for you too if you harass female employees.

Posted by: noddyrules at November 6, 2007 12:05 AM

just 26 hours till Forlone Calvert gets to match the results with the expression on his face.
