I don't have favourites in every category, but I've selected a few that stand out;
Best Blog - a tossup between Michelle Malkin and honourary Blogging Tory, Captains Quarters.
I like the Anchoress for Best Individual.
Best Online Community - Little Green Footballs.
My choice is the Belmont Club for Best Conservative, in a tough field. (link fixed)
Science blog- Climate Audit of course!!!
Milblogs are another tough field - Michael Yon is my choice here.
In NZ, Australian, I go with Tim Blair.
We're in the running for Best Canadian, of course. Remember - you can vote daily.

Kate, you wouldn't happen to be a Lizard now, would you? Or are you just a lurker? Surprised the Kos Kids haven't figured out a way to cheat.
Belmont Club is one of my favorites too, but they're not getting the votes I'm afraid.
Been voting for you (once a day) good luck!
Posted by: Doug at November 3, 2007 11:14 AMDefinitely Tim Blair.
Posted by: Mississauga Matt at November 3, 2007 11:38 AM...just curious in the order the blogs are being presented...not alphabetically for some reason.
Gives an appearance of ranking for some reason.
Posted by: tomax7 at November 3, 2007 12:03 PMMitchieville! Best blog in the known universe. Vote often, Vote Mitchieville!
Posted by: dmorris at November 3, 2007 12:32 PMHope all you readers are voting and since the rules permit make sure you get in more than one since that is the way the game is played. Least we can do to thank Kate for all the hard work that goes into her blog - it just doesn't happen on its' own.
Winning number one will bring on many more readers and since she seems to attract a better class of reader we will also get more and better exchanges of opinion.
Go Kate go.
How can that other blog possibly be in second place??? Have you looked at it??? Kate, please tromp that thing.
Posted by: Western at November 3, 2007 12:46 PMKate, as you noticed, you're not my first pick for Canadian Blog. I replied to your comment at Apply Liberally.
You do make my top 5 in Best Canadian this year though if it's any consolation.

Western, Raymi cleaned up at the Canadian Blog Awards last year, much to most people's surprise.
Posted by: Saskboy at November 3, 2007 12:56 PMThe "Canadian Blog Awards"? You must be kidding. Half the known blogging universe boycotted those, just to avoid association with Robert McClelland.

Agreed, EXCEPT: if you've been following the civil war in the blogosphere which Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs has started -- vis a vis the VB party in Belgium and the CounterJihad conference in Brussels -- contra Atlas Shrugs/Brussels Journal -- I'd say his "on line community" -- at least in the one long thread I looked at -- were groupies lining up for the KoolAid. There was no real debate on that thread.
A bit of a idealistic morally puritanical demagogue is old Charles. Mind you, neo cons are for the most part, disappointed lefties.
I found his jihad-enabling smears seriously disturbing. CAIR will be thrilled.
One doubts that he would have approved of Churchill's alliance with the Soviet Union against the Nazis. One doubts if al-Queda and the Taliban would have been so successful early on had they adopted Charles' morally pristine attitude vis a vis collaborating with the Saudi and Yankee infidels.
Robert Amsterdam - Best European(non-UK) - has a very good blog devoted to Russia. I'm conflicted between him and Brussels Journal. The one that is leading, Retecool, I've never heard of before. Anyone follow it?
The UK blogs, I'm not familiar with either. Anyone follow any of them?
And, why is Ace of Spades missing from Funniest Blog?

Posted by: raymi at November 3, 2007 2:24 PMKeep insisting on the vote and we'll stay away.
Nobody likes being told like a little child.
That Raymi blog - it's the most narcissistic piece of crap I've ever seen. I'm saddened to say I'll never get that minute back again.
Well this year Robert M. isn't running the Canadian Blog Awards, and a multi-partisan team will be. Hopefully everyone will want to participate, and not only will we all get to see who can piss further online, (not sure if that's a sexist comment or not, but it's said in the spirit of humour only), but everyone will have some fun and learn more about blogs they'd never typically notice.
Posted by: Saskboy at November 3, 2007 3:01 PMMe No Dhimmi,
I agree with you wholeheartedly. LGF is becoming more of a cult than a blog. The brilliant essayist and long-time LGF poster Fjordman, amongst many, many others, was banned by Charles "Dear Leader" Johnson for daring to support the Vlaams Belang party. The so-called "lizard army" that are, unbelievably, up for the Best Online Community award are nothing more than a collection of circle-jerking moonbats.
If you want a good laugh, try challenging the fools in that echo chamber for evidence of their contention that the VB are Nazis and fascists. It's like a massive excercise in Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon: The son of the sister of a minor VB official murdered some Muslim; ergo the VB are murderous racists, etc. ad nauseam.
Along with the VB, several notable Islam experts attended the recent Counterjihad conference in Brussels including Bat Ye'or, Andrew Bostom, Robert Spencer, Patrick Sookhdeo among many others. Attending bloggers included Fjordman, Paul Belien, Kepiblanc and Baron Bodissey. Now Charles "Great Helmsman" Johnson has taken it upon himself to destroy the integrity of this entire new anti-jihadist alliance by trying to smear the VB with the most laughably spurious charges of fascism and Nazism.
It's quite sad really that a once useful blog has clearly sided with the Islamist enemies of Western civilization. Maybe I missed it, but has Kate weighed in with her take on this whole kerfluffle?
Posted by: JP at November 3, 2007 3:08 PMDante: Thanks for saying that about Raymi blog. I went there for about a minute too, but kept my mouth shut thinking I was, meybe, like, square or something. Thought I was just not getting it or something.
Unadulterated (good pun!) crap I thought. I felt that in addition to the un-captitalized sentence beginnings, if she cudda done little hearts above the 'i's t'would be complete.
Then I visited Anchoress for the first time to see another intelligent grown up young woman -- like Kate.
Thanks JP! Nice to hear I'm not alone in this. Like you I have been a great admirer of Fjordman et al, and frankly I lost sleep over this.
I was thinking this morning that were LGF a political party in Belgium it would be banned. And Johnson couldn't run his site there. He would be crucified for his (amusing) "Religion of Peace Kills xxx" in _____" items as of course they are "public insults" which the EU criminalizes.
I am very familiar with all the names you've mentioned and have enormous respect for all of them. In fact, Bostom's Legacy of Jihad triggered my interest in Islamic jihad studies.
Bat Ye'or totally changed my life. After Eurabia, I read 4 others of hers. She is a true visionary!
Posted by: Me No Dhimmi at November 3, 2007 3:32 PMKate will win Best Canadian Blog IMHO.
Angry in the Great White North is very good if he'd just settle down and quit changing his format. He's got something else going there now, difficult to post.
Posted by: Liz J at November 3, 2007 3:34 PMMe No Dhimmi and JP, both of you are right on about Charles Johnson and his attacks on Brussels Journal. He has provided a valuable aggregate on Islamofascism, but, from the beginning allowed a swarm of Kos-like commentors to take root there. Johnson comes across as a very childlike person, more secure in the company of groupies. I think he has shot himself in the foot finally.
That Raymi blog - it's the most narcissistic piece of crap I've ever seen.
Ditto, she's like the Paris Hilton of bloggers, it's a narcissistic vanity site. It would be a farse if her kiddie minions make her first place.
Posted by: penny at November 3, 2007 3:48 PMHave to agree, Charles at LGF has gone over the proverbial cliff. The banning of Fjordman was the last straw for me.
Go to the Gulf Coast Pundit blog to read some ex-LGFers discuss why Charles took this route.

Posted by: Joanne at November 3, 2007 6:27 PMThe comments here about Raymi are too kind: she makes Paris Hilton look like a saint.
Raymi's blog is unadulterated sleeze. How on earth did such low life garbage get included in the category of Best Canadian Blog?
The last time I looked her blog was second to SDA: only about half the votes but, still, an astonishing amount considering the decent competition and the utter wasteland of Raymi's tiny, dark universe.
What the heck's going on here?
Posted by: lookout at November 3, 2007 11:38 PMPerhaps Raymi's getting so many votes 'cause she's a hot babe and flaunts it. Must be a lot of guys voting... Hard to resist that cheesecake...
Maybe I ought to put up some beefcake pics of myself to get a bigger chunk of the female vote... Nah... I'd rather get votes based on my brain and what I have to say, like Kate does.
Posted by: Canadian Sentinel at November 4, 2007 9:11 AMi held a poll two months ago and as it turns out, 60% of my readers are women, and they love me.
Posted by: raymi at November 4, 2007 11:19 AMWell, we're different folks with different blogs, so it's hard to compare, I guess...
Posted by: Canadian Sentinel at November 4, 2007 12:01 PMI just checked the competition for SDA. As other folks have said, what a wasted minute!! I scrolled down a long ways thinking there had to be some intelligent post there. Wrong. If thats the competition, the contest seems to be a waste of time.
Posted by: Tom at November 4, 2007 12:43 PMraymi loves raymi, I'd say ... and proudly displays her manic-depression for pity and praise ... poor thing ...

Posted by: raymi at November 4, 2007 2:28 PMKate, the 'Weblogs Award Finalist' icon located off to the left of your website makes it look like part of the 'wallpaper' and gets overlooked. Might I suggest you make it a lead daily link or somehow more obvious....
Posted by: agent smith at November 4, 2007 6:53 PMI'm told Raymi put my comment up as the title of her blog. Success!
