Nice to see Kinsella's obnoxious blog (which I have avoided for nearly a year now) didn't make the list. Thank God.
Posted by: TJ at November 2, 2007 10:42 AMKate's on top just now. Go Kate!
Posted by: The Phantom at November 2, 2007 10:42 AMWent to the minx one for the first time, bleecch luckily she hints CBC is pulling for her.
Nice to know where I should never go back. I like when things are made clear for me....
Tax payer dollars are fighting you Kate.

(just a little LGF inside joke, only they cheat on internet polls.)
Posted by: Doug at November 2, 2007 11:05 AMLess than 50%?? C'mo, you can all do better than that!
Also don't forget Climate Audit (Best Science Blog). Steve's only got 62 % at the moment
Posted by: jlc at November 2, 2007 11:21 AMFolks, let's all remember that though we SDA commenters be a collective force to be reckoned with on any vote, we leave the ballot-stuffing to the left.
Posted by: Eugene at November 2, 2007 11:30 AMI voted today but think I was "caught" trying to vote more than once.
The first time I clicked in the circle and then looked for a SUBMIT or similar means to register the vote. There didn't seem to be any such mechanism and, when I checked, the circle was empty. So, I clicked on it again and also on the RESULTS. That's when I was informed I'd already voted.
Am I the only one who's confused?
Posted by: lookout at November 2, 2007 12:21 PMThere is no "submit" button. You only have to click the circle.
Posted by: Kate at November 2, 2007 12:33 PMI nominated Climate Audit, I'm proud to say!
Posted by: Kate at November 2, 2007 12:35 PMJust what I figured. Thanks, Kate, for the clarification.
Posted by: lookout at November 2, 2007 1:25 PMI too, found something amiss when I voted .
When I clicked on the circle for Kates blog , the whole page shifted out of position and Kate's circle remained unchecked.
The second time I clicked on it, it did fill in, but immediately the screen changed to the results page.
I then attempted to vote for Climate Audit in Best Science Blog, but some other blogs circle was filled in because again, the entire page shifted when I clicked on Climate Audit's circle.
I then clicked on Climate Audit again and the screen swithed to the results page without any clarification of who I actually voted for!
Something seems fishy!
Posted by: richfisher at November 2, 2007 2:37 PMAh, hell. I was hoping for a better showing for FFoF. Anyone with the 'nads (honorary in this case) to slap around CHRC abusing weasels the way Kathy has been lately deserves a Scooby Snack. Or a first place finish.
Nothing against Kate of course, I'd like to see her come in second. Besides, Kate won in 2006.
Posted by: Sean at November 2, 2007 2:48 PM"Update - "Raymi! Bladder infection talk is no way to beat a roadkill blog!"
If all prospective male immigrants to Canada were forced to read Raymi's blog for 15 minutes to give them a fair warning what the average white female Torontonian is like you'd see the immigration rate plummet to acceptable levels.
Posted by: Andrew at November 2, 2007 4:01 PMI voted for Kate, too. Then I immediately regretted it.
Posted by: The Mayor at November 2, 2007 4:27 PMI voted for Kate and didn't regret it. At all.
Am I wrong about this? I don't understand "minx" to be complimentary or anything a young woman would want applied to her -- unless perhaps she enjoys being the target of rap music lyrics and similar vulgarity. Is it not a synonym for slapper, "ho", etc.?
Posted by: Charles MacDonald at November 2, 2007 4:50 PMCan some one explaine to me why you can vote every 24 hrs.
Is it just for hits on the Weblog Awards site.
There are other reasons i can think of and all of them make the whole voting scenario a farce.
Enlighten me,thanks.
Posted by: alexb at November 2, 2007 4:56 PMBecause it's fun to compete, alexb - and to help introduce blog readers to new sites. There are no prizes.
Posted by: Kate at November 2, 2007 5:16 PMThis Raymi person ... what's with it?
A juvenile cynical slut with a blog full of tripe? running second to SDA? This is some kind of set up.
I hate when idiots get into the act and skew reality. I can see why the CBC would be into her.
Posted by: John West at November 2, 2007 5:28 PMI've just checked out Raymi's blog. What a cesspool: not an intelligent sentence, let alone thought.
To think this garbage is even on the ballot--and in second place--is demeaning to the contest.
Ugh.
Posted by: lookout at November 2, 2007 5:45 PMMitchieville! The NEW Best Canadian Blog, possibly the Best Blog in the whole damned Universe!
Remember, if Kate wins too often.....well, look what happened to the Liberal Party!
Yep, a little time in "Also Ran" would keep Kate the same decent, humble person we know and love! Vote Mitchieville!!
Posted by: dmorris at November 2, 2007 5:50 PMThanks Kate.
I kinda thought as much, just wondered how serious this was.
By the way,i didn't vote for you today, went with an underdog.
Competition..... you mean like the Argos kicking Rider butt in the grey Cup?
Posted by: alexb at November 2, 2007 6:13 PMThe dark haired minx would make a good subject for a case study about self absorption. I wonder what she will do next if her niffty use of the f word doesn’t get her enough attention to win the cup. Drop her threads?
She has an interesting theory explaining how lionesses know when they are all grown up, though. I’m sure her Daddy lion is proud.
No wonder people don't wear mink coats anymore! On one of her youtubes,as she "swaggers" her butt,I've seen better shaped and smaller ones on hippo's!But I guess that is her entitlement. And she whines that SDA is a political blog! OMG. Somebody looking out for us is bad!! EEEKKKK.And BTW, Kate,it's probably an STD...heh
Posted by: Justthinkin at November 2, 2007 7:39 PMHey, be nice - I'd like this to stay a good natured contest. No slagging the competition.
Posted by: Kate at November 2, 2007 7:47 PMOkies. Just couldn't resist. My bad.
Posted by: Justthinkin at November 2, 2007 7:50 PMOh.Just voted for climateaudit. They need some help guys/gals! Trailing
Posted by: Justthinkin at November 2, 2007 7:51 PMWhat files do you have to delete to vote more than once? I got rid of a bunch but there is still something thats stopping me.
Posted by: wilson at November 2, 2007 9:18 PMlet it be known that last year i went up against dooce.com for best diarist and won, i have been blogging for eight years and i would like to see what you look like and everyone wants to know why you are so boring.
Posted by: raymi at November 2, 2007 9:58 PMharha std! i've been in a loyal relationship for three years and newsflash, bitches get uti's - the last time i had one was 6 years ago. nice readers kate!
Posted by: raymi at November 2, 2007 10:01 PMI can't believe that a contest has turned into a bashing fest. How are you going to make fun of a girl just because she was put on a ballot?
I did not know of Raymi until now. If she wants to talk about her bladder, who cares. It is a personal blog, that is simply it.
This is more shallow than anything on that girls site. I am no longer a reader. Thanks for the link to her site. I know who to vote for now.
Posted by: Emily at November 3, 2007 3:18 AMWilson. Yeah. There is a way,but then that would be against the rules, wouldn't it? Play fair.
And as an afterthought, shouldn't Raymi be in a different catagory? I mean, what is she doing in with bloggers who post on real world issues. She has a personal diary. Maybe the Best Blog committee need to expand a bit?
Voting Tips, folks. You have to click on the page first (not over one of the circles) to activate the embedded program...THEN you can click on the circle.
It should work fine after that.
And to repeat what Kate said, please don't slag the competition...it's rude. Raymi apparently has a devoted (yet superficial) readership...nothing says every blog has to be philosophically deep...sometimes fun is fun.
Posted by: Eeyore at November 3, 2007 9:38 AM"don't forget to spread the vote for me word dickweeds! people in her comments are racists!"
Nice to see Raymi feels the same way.
I don't recall granting you permission to use my bladder infection quote, but it seems lifting other peoples' writing is the basis of your blog.
Posted by: Monstergirl at November 3, 2007 12:01 PM"I then clicked on Climate Audit again and the screen swithed to the results page without any clarification of who I actually voted for!

And that is why you should oppose touch screen voting in the USA, if you don't already.

Last year's pissing contest between Raymi's blog and political blogs was quite funny. Some political bloggers/readers just don't understand there is an online world out of the "meaningful".
Posted by: Saskboy at November 3, 2007 1:15 PMIf you don't want to be quoted on the internet, don't write it in a public forum.
There should be a category for "teen blogs", I think.
Posted by: Kate at November 3, 2007 1:33 PMthere should be a category for f'ugly bitches.
Posted by: raymi at November 3, 2007 3:38 PMThe irony is that I used the quote because I thought it was hilarious. You've managed to both spin it into a one sided pissing match, and reveal you don't know the difference between an STD and a urinary tract infection.
Nicely done.
I think I'm getting disturbed by how much talk of pee there is going on now.
Kate, can't the bacteria that cause UTIs also be transmitted sexually?
I'm confused by Raymi's use of the word "bitches". Since it could have several meanings, it is possible that she's revealed ignorance about how UTIs afflict people.
Posted by: Saskboy at November 3, 2007 4:08 PMThis comment thread is probably the only original thing I've seen on this blog so far.
vote raymi!
Posted by: Krista at November 3, 2007 4:12 PMi.do.not.have.an.std.
Posted by: raymi at November 3, 2007 4:39 PMThanks for sharing that.
You might get that reading comprehension thing checked, though.
I dont even see how "small dead animals" can even be able to compete against raymi? Surely people can see that this more of a virtual pin board, there is stuff posted here from all over the place with barely any original content.
Atleast i know that reading raymi's blog i will be seeing something special and one-off that i wont have seen in a million other places on the web.
...and to Charles MacDonald:
"Am I wrong about this? I don't understand "minx" to be complimentary or anything a young woman would want applied to her -- unless perhaps she enjoys being the target of rap music lyrics and similar vulgarity. Is it not a synonym for slapper, "ho", etc.?"
NO. It is not a synonym for "slapper, ho, etc" but then if you spent your time reading a dictionary instead of this knock off website then you'd know that.
Vote RAYMI!
Posted by: charlie at November 3, 2007 5:44 PM... f'ugly ... bitches ... bladder infection ... dickweeds ...
Yup. You got raymis.
Posted by: ural at November 3, 2007 6:10 PMRaymi's just bitter 'cause Frank Magazine called her "mannish looking" :-)
Posted by: Andrew at November 3, 2007 6:28 PM"i.do.not.have.an.std."
Good for you. Now in future, remember to wipe from front to back and you won't have any more UTIs, either.
Posted by: Sean at November 3, 2007 7:18 PMWow.... until I read this thread I actually had some respect for this blog. Cheap shots, low blows, and unimaginative slander is all you have to go up against Raymi? Don't you know who you're dealing with???
It's funny to watch you SDA readers go on about how superior you are and how Raymi's readers are all childish you can't seem to let go of one comment about STIs or UTIs or whatever it was. It's like she's having a war with a bunch of highschool kids. If you're such a mature bunch of reader why aren't you acting like it?
Oh, and do you really think that calling Raymis blog unoriginal is really fair? I mean all this one consists of is links from other sites. I haven't seen an original thought on this blog so far at all.
VOTE RAYMI!!!!

1. A girl or young woman who is considered pert, flirtatious, or impudent.
2. Obsolete A promiscuous woman.

Definition:
an offensive term that deliberately insults a woman's or girl's sense of propriety and decorous behavior [Mid-16th century. Origin ?]
But then if you had the brains to use Google (or a printed dictionary) or worried about correct English usage and punctuation, you wouldn't be wasting your time on Raymi's site.
Posted by: Charles MacDonald at November 3, 2007 9:40 PMSometimes when standing in front of, I don't know, a highschool math class, I think fondly of Pythagorus or Euclid and then I think, when's dinner?
All the best, Kate.
Posted by: Alice the Camel at November 4, 2007 12:03 AM"Don't you know who you're dealing with???"
From what I've seen of Raymi's blog, someone who lags behind my daughter at grammar. It's pretty bad when you get your ass whupped by a six year old in grade one who knows enough to capitalize the first letter of a sentence.
Which is more than can be said of Raymi.

Posted by: charlie at November 4, 2007 3:03 PM"There are so many things wrong with what "sean" just said i don't even know where to start...'
You could start by fixing the style sheet for your site -- it doesn't validate worth a damn. Looks like crap in Firefox on a large display as well. Your "design" skills remind me of Raymi's grammar for some reason.
[Like shooting fish in a barrel.]
Posted by: Sean at November 4, 2007 5:02 PMKate is a REAL WOMAN. Doesn't need to show us her right boob to impress us.
While I certainly like boobs, I find a powerful brain to be far more attractive.
Kate deserves to win by a wide margin.
I'm just honored to be on the same finalist list.
And to earn my votes the hard way.
Posted by: Canadian Sentinel at November 5, 2007 4:45 AM/yawn... sean, sean, sean...
clearly there is no way better to win an argument than to spin off on a completely irrelevant point about my website!?! LMAO! because bringing up how crap my website is has anything to do with your completely chauvinist comments about how women with breasts have something "more to hold on to"?
oh and while you have me started on YOUR site "steal my stuff and i'll club you like a baby seal" is a really BRILLIANT way to convey yourself on the internet, very classy. also very pc.
hey and atleast i wrote ALL my code by myself not copy and paste scripts made by someone else.
i would take my one in a million glitchy website over your churned out piece of crap any day.
