Do they really think that they can stop me from expressing an opinion?

What candidates who are employees of the health region like Mark Lemstra? Are they going to fire him?

I think we all know that the health region is a mess. Trying to muzzle employees is just a sign of how desperate they are to maintain the status quo.

Which numbers are right?

Universal drug plan 1 72.2 105.9 116.5 128.2

http://www.canada.com/saskatoonstarphoenix/news/story.html?id=672a637f-d5aa-443d-a295-7a948417d8ee

The NDP government introduced a seniors' prescription drug plan in this spring's budget at an annual cost of $53 million. Making that program universal and capping prices at $15 per prescription for all Saskatchewan residents will cost the government $150 million at the start, growing to $205 million by 2011-12.

"...should consider, in addition to the provisions of The Election Act, 1996. While these recommendations are not grounded in the legislation, you are expected to follow them:"

Seems like a clear enough extra-legal infringement of free speech to me.

HMMM! Lets see, the Health Boards are independent, so they say. Sask Health provides funds to the districts to operate only, and governance, management, and delivery of services are the sole responsibility of the District, so they say. When problems occur, lack of services, inefficiencies become apparent, it is the fault of the District, so they say.

It lends itself to appearance that(So the Dippers and Sask Health would like one to think, eh??) they are an independent arms length body, right?? BUT:,now command and control sets in, and VOILA!

DO WHAT YOU ARE TOLD OR ELSE!!! BE QUIET!!!!!

What a crock. Transparent and open governance eh? Ya right!!

Just one more item, in a legacy of mismanagement, lies, deception, command, control that Lorne and crew are guilty of. Nice to see some disclosure, and maybe some frank inquiry and public discussion of their record.

Speak up everyone, this period of time (an election campaign) truly is the chance and forum to bring up items that are in the PUBLIC INTEREST, and in a free and democratic society theses items, issues, and actions are NOT secret, but rather, they are and should be discussed openly in the public forum.

So they want to gag RHA employees and encourage NDP friendly unions to advertise freely!!!

Would not nurses be considered RHA employees?
Doctors?
Other miscellaneous care givers?

Quite the boondoggle these dippers have created!

WLM Redux:

To be fair, Douglas renounced eugenics when he visited pre-WWII Germany.

That did not change the fact the type of incremental socialism Douglas favoured was based on a Germanic model promoted by the Fabian Society.

That particular movement sprung up in the mid-1860's and used the newly-minted Darwinian theories for political gain.

It's just too much of a coincidence, in my mind, that Marx and his ilk (Fabians included) were inspired by Darwin's 1859 book fully entitled: On the Origin of the Species by Means of Natural Selection or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life.

Those movements which inspired Douglas, in my mind, are not much different that today's Global Warming proponents.

Both claimed their science was settled and attempted to impose those never-proven theories through political means.

Today's version, much as it was in the Fabian days, was about redistribution of wealth in creating some type of utopia.

I guess all this shows is there never has been a shortage of people who will run your life for you, if you do not challenge their out-and-out fabrications.

Looking in from Alberta and being married to a Saskatchewan gal, I can honestly observe that your province has made everyboody equally poor. I admire your senses of humour in the midst of being run by such delusional idiots.

Posted by: set you free at October 24, 2007 1:12 PM

It truly would be incredible if the people of Sask. vote in the NDP again, but then those who wish to better themselves leave on a regular basis. I left in 1956. Those left seem to be idealogically "left" no matter what and willnever find fault or contradiction in their ideolologies.

Of course, Saskatchewan does not hold the vessel of most NDP thought.

Here in Alberta, our contribution has been the NDP's national president, who appeared on the MIke Duffy show yesterday.

I have researched her personal history ... pay close attention to the last sentence and weep.

doesn't anyone remember that the NDP said they would allow the 'people' to elect the members that make the Health District Boards !

Posted by: Carl at October 24, 2007 2:53 PM

Gormley just had Frank Quesnel - Justice Minister (former after Nov.7th) give his explanation to this thing. He said that the Health Board had secured an opinion from Sask Justice and came up with this policy as a result. He justified the entire thing by saying that if nothing can be said by Health Region employees then there is no way that the government can have an advantage during the election campaign. Ya, what a laugh. It gets better. When Gormley qizzed him about how, even during an election, the SGEU can still insert propaganda into member's pay envelopes and can still dislplay their brochures and booklets in hospital waiting rooms telling voters that there will be two-tiered health care in Sask if the government changes. To that Quesnel stated that it wasn't actually staff that was doing that but rather the "union". What an unmitigated crock of CRAP!

Posted by: a different Bob at October 24, 2007 2:55 PM

What's disturbing is that it was deemed critical to do this for this election and not previous ones. What makes RHA opinion more damning now than it was then? There's a pre-emptive gaffe they're covering with this. A reporter should be out there trying to find out what the NDP screwed up (besides all the obvious stuff).

More telling about the disastrous state of Sask. is that all Sask. Health employees and volunteers who received this NDP missive actually complied and kept their mouths shut!!!

Tommy Douglas, Stalin, Mao, Castro et al would be proud of all these good Sask. sheeples.

This is the make or break election for Sask. Should the SaskParty not win a clear majority, I will be packing up the family and moving out. I've had my fill of Communism!

Sean:

They both evolved from common ancestors.

Posted by: set you free at October 24, 2007 5:00 PM

@Sean S.: Perhaps we don't know the difference between evolutionary and revolutionary. (You could help by identifying the proper place to put quote marks in the phrase composed of the last three words. From what I recall, there's more than one option.)

Posted by: Daniel M. Ryan at October 24, 2007 5:07 PM

Sean...Yes

Communism is a dictatorship of the prolitariat.
Social Democracy is lie through your teeth, call
yourself a liberal, greeny, anything/everything you are not, in order to secretly promote
socialism/communism and become a dictator of the prolitariat.

Posted by: William at October 24, 2007 5:57 PM

you are discussing the difference between "shit" and "poo"

Now which of our charter rights speaks of "free expression"?

Someday, this can of worms in the charter will apply to unionism in its entirety... including being forced into the membership.

There is no difference, Sean. They are both lost causes clung to by tired old folks who haven't kept up and their younger groupies.

Posted by: Louise at October 24, 2007 8:52 PM

set you free, I read the Wikipedia article. Good God!! I remember having a good laugh when I read some stats about distributions of the popular vote in a Canadian election a few election cycles ago. The Communist Party always manages to dredge up the odd candidate here and there and they always manage to get 0.0000001% of the popular vote. So I guess moving to the NDP was an attempt to better herself. Poor fool.

Posted by: Louise at October 24, 2007 9:00 PM

Lets do it for Tommy... and vote SASK Party!

Posted by: Ryan at October 24, 2007 9:29 PM

Now let us see,
Communists would throw you out of work and send you to hard labor.
Social democrats will give you warning, that you will end like that, if you think that your speech is free.

Posted by: Bolshevik at October 24, 2007 9:30 PM

Actually the above should say socialists only, social democracy is another story altogether. NDP is not social democracy. NDP in today’s world is largely overlapping into communism.

Tun off your TV, set you free. Listen to talk radio instead. Do your bit to shrink TV revenues to the point where they either get the message or disappear.

Speaking of tired old folks who haven't kept up, here's a really interesting article about the so called neocons: http://www.commentarymagazine.com/viewarticle.cfm?id=10935&page=1. Interesting bit about the origin of the word.

"The term “neoconservative” was coined in the 1970’s as an anathema. It was intended to stigmatize a group of liberal intellectuals who had lately parted ways with the majority of their fellows.

As a heretical offshoot of liberalism, neoconservatism appealed to the same values and even many of the same goals—like, for example, peace and racial equality. But neoconservatives argued that liberal policies—for example, disarmament in the pursuit of peace, or affirmative action in the pursuit of racial equality—undermined those goals rather than advancing them. In short order, the heretics established themselves as contemporary liberalism’s most formidable foes."

I guess that makes me a neocon, and a proud one at that.

I also like this statement:

"Much of the domestic-policy critique mounted by neoconservatives eventually became common wisdom, symbolized by President Bill Clinton’s welfare-reform program and his declaration that “the era of big government is over.” "

I wonder how all the loons on the left would deal with that, if they knew.

Posted by: ok4ua at October 25, 2007 10:04 PM

ok4ua, the health workers are free as birds in a socialist utopia to badmouth their bosses, they just can't do it during an election for some reason.
If commie health care is as important as our media tells us it is, then shouldn't there be an ongoing debate on how to improve it?
Shouldn't we be constantly tweaking it to alleviate the pain and suffering of our comrades?
Why does politics suddenly take precedence over the health of our brothers and sisters?
Wait a minute, what might these people say if they aren't gagged?
Perhaps we can't trust them!
Maybe they're enemies of socialism!
Those ungrateful wretches probably aren't praying to SAINT TOMMY!!
LET'S GET THEM!!!!
