“Especially if it’s a Democrat,” the chief of staff told The Examiner in his West Wing office. “He wants to create the conditions where a Democrat not only will have the leeway, but the obligation to see it out.”
To that end, the president has been sending advice, mostly through aides, aimed at preventing an abrupt withdrawal from Iraq in the event of a Democratic victory in November 2008.""

Posted by: Warwick at September 25, 2007 10:43 AMThe MSM and PPG are back in Hot For An Election mode. Just as in the spring, they are focused on 'having a federal election'. Why? Because they are all Liberals and are stunned by being out of power.
I suspect that the Liberal Party Bosses want an election NOW. Fast. They have two reasons. One, to get rid of Dion before he implodes the Liberal party further. And two, to do it while Harper might still be in minority terrain. They want to lose this election when Harper might still be returned with a minority.[ I happen to think he's closer to majority, but that's me.]
Then, losing the election, they'll dump Dion and put in Ignatieff as the Philosopher-King. And, proceed to work themselves up, emotionally in the minds of the people, back into their self-defined role as The Natural Governing Party.
The Liberals have no interest in Canada or Canadians. They have only one interest. Power. And they have no policies for Canada and Canadians. Any policies they might announce have only one agenda - putting them in power.
They also rule by propaganda - that's why a philosopher-king style of leader is their ideal; that's why they make such constant use of anti-Americanism; that's why they tout Kyotoism and its apocalpytic guilt-ridden Evil Humans scenario.
The NDP want an election now, also for partisan reasons. To take seats from the Liberals.
The Bloc? They want an election to lose, so they can sneak off into the sunset with their Canadian taxpayer funded pensions.
The only people who don't want an election - is Harper - who wants to work. And Dion, who knows what will happen to him when he loses.
But - the Liberal MSM and PPG are beside themselves screaming for an election. For one reason only. Power. To manipulate the people and get the Liberals back into the only place they feel is Their Right.
Despicable behaviour. And we are paying these people to govern for Canada. Not to play partisan politics. But the Liberals don't know anything else.

In the end, I voted for PMSH's idea and I'll continue to ride my bike to work until the snow flies.

From an IBD Editorial ...
How many people, for instance, know that James Hansen, a man billed as a lonely "NASA whistleblower" standing up to the mighty U.S. government, was really funded by Soros' Open Society Institute , which gave him "legal and media advice"?
That's right, Hansen was packaged for the media by Soros' flagship "philanthropy," by as much as $720,000, most likely under the OSI's "politicization of science" program.
That may have meant that Hansen had media flacks help him get on the evening news to push his agenda and lawyers pressuring officials to let him spout his supposedly "censored" spiel for weeks in the name of advancing the global warming agenda.
Hansen even succeeded, with public pressure from his nightly news performances, in forcing NASA to change its media policies to his advantage. Had Hansen's OSI-funding been known, the public might have viewed the whole production differently. The outcome could have been different.

So everytime parliament convenes, with a throne speech, that is evidence government wants election? Obviously Dion hasn't figured out how our parliament works or that he won't be getting away with idiotic comments like the one above. An all out war where in the end the Muslims have the majority, and the non-Muslims live in fear and dhimmitude. One of the joys of having the full Rogers cable package is I get regional news from all across the country. From CJON (Newfoundland) to CITY Vancouver, I get the local reports from everywhere. Since local reporters are much more focused on their respective cities and provinces, I find their coverage to be much less ideological, and more concerned with what is important to their viewers.
For example, on CTV's Calgary news at noon, they ran a story on farmers who are growing crops for fuel, and noted that prices are rising for grains due to both the US subsidies for ethanol and rising consumption in China and India. When I combine this with a report I saw on CNBC yesterday which showed that food prices were the major factor in Chinese inflation (pork prices have more than tripled in China in the last year), I immediately thought of three things:
First, why, in the face of skyrocketing demand, can't the CWB deliver better prices to their captives, er, members? Second, how should I adjust my investment portfolio to take advantage of this long-term trend? And third, if there is any global warming, and it extends growing seasons for Canada's prairies, why in the world would any Canadian politician want to stop it?

There are a couple of places that are trying to break a story about the Director of Copyright at Heritage Canada being in a relationship with a lobbyist from the film industry while passing copyright legislation.
Problem is, these Liberals who are trying to break the story (including that intellectual giant BigCityLiberal) are not saying the important parts:
Assistant Deputy Minister for Cultural Affairs Jean-Pierre Blais named Patricia Neri Director General of Copyright. Dec.2005 while Martin's Liberals were in power.
Douglas Frith, the person Patricia Neri was sleeping with is a former Liberal MP.

One more reason for me to rejoice that I am retired from Manitoba's education system and no longer have to promulgate the politically correct rubbish that poses as fact.
Does anyone ever wonder about what sort of an issue Kyoto would have been had the Liberals been in power instead of Conservatives. I suspect they would have quietly "met targets" by sending money to Russia, China, etc. below the radar of the press and the Canadian public . . . or they would have backed down and explained that we,regretably, could not meet the targets and noone would have much of a big fuss. I have seen articles documenting the inconsistencies in rhetoric used by Envornmental groups when it's Liberals who fall short (e.g. "not enough, but a good start" for Liberals vs. "completely inadequate, blah, blah . . " for Consesrvatives -- for roughly similar initiatives. I remain convinces that the whole fuss about Kyoto has been fueled in large part by anti-Conservatism.

I find this very surprising. I was under the impression that the purpose of the site was to document possible issues with climate monitoring locations. I did not know that it had moved on to the interpretation of the climate data. In fact I think that John V's work, while preliminary, is a step in the direction of showing that the bias is not as large as expected.

The Spanish guerrilla against Napoleon, the anti-Hitler resistance movements, and the anti-colonial insurrections primarily targeted foreign armies, secondly "collaborators," and occasionally the population in order to mobilize them through intimidation.
The order of targets is reversed in Iraq. The GIs are not the priority: they have lost 3,700 men in four years. During the "hot months" 3,000 Iraqis have been killed, mainly women and children, blown up not by the Americans but by the so-called "guerrilla." Summary:
AHMADINEJAD (THROUGH TRANSLATOR): In the name of Allah, the compassionate and the merciful, oh, Allah, hasten the arrival of Imam al-Mahdi and grant him good health and victory and make us his followers and those who attest to his rightfulness.
...
I will also speak to you about the need for remedying the present situation, prospects for a brighter and more hopeful future, and about the appearance of the sublime and beauty, compassion and generosity, justice and blossoming of all the Allah-given human talents and the prominence of faith in Allah and realization of the promise of Allah.
...
Dear colleagues, again, there is no doubt that the second and more important factor is some big powers' disregard of morals, divine values, the teachings of the prophets and the instructions by the almighty Allah, as well as the rule of the (inaudible).
...
Unfortunately, they have put themselves in the position of Allah. They were in servitude to their own whims and the desire to have everything for themselves.
...
Friends, ladies, and gentlemen, the only sustainable way to the betterment of mankind is the return to the teachings of the divine prophets, monotheism, respect for the dignity of humans, and the flow of love and affection in all relationships, ties, and regulations, and to reform the present structures on this basis.
...
To fulfill this objective, I invite everyone -- everybody to form a front of fraternity, amity, and sustainable peace, based on monotheism and justice, under the name of "Coalition for Peace," (ph) to prevent incursions and arrogance and to promote the culture of affection and justice.
...
I hereby announce that, with the help of all independent, justice-seeking and peace-loving nations, the Islamic Republic of Iran will be heading down this path.
...
Monotheism, justice, and compassion for humans should dominate all the pillars of the U.N. And this organization should be a forum for justice, and every member should enjoy equal spiritual and legal support.
...
However, by the grace of faith in Allah and national unity, Iran has moved forward step by step, and now our country is recognized as one with the capacity for industrial-scale fuel cycle production for peaceful purposes.
...
Is it not high time for these powers to return from the path of arrogance and obedience to Satan to the path of faith in Allah? Would they not like to be cleansed of the impurities, submit to the will of Allah and believe in him?
...
Faith in Allah means believing in honesty, purity, justice and compassion for others. They can be certain that they will benefit from purity, honesty, justice, and loving and respecting the human dignity.
...
This is the invitation of all the divine prophets, from Adam to Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus Christ, and Mohammed, peace be upon up him. If they accept this invitation, they will be saved. And if they don't, the same calamities that befell the people of distant past will befall them, as well.
...
According to the Holy Koran, one who does not answer the divine call should not think that he has weakened Allah on earth. He has no companion but Allah and he is clearly engulfed by darkness. They have nothing of their own and cannot escape from the dominion of the rule of Allah and his will.
...
In this important gathering, I have to remind them of the following words of the almighty which has been mentioned in the Holy Koran. Do they not look at the powers and governments which came before them? If the people of the past had actually possessed something, they would have kept it and would not have let you possess it now.
...
Allah destroyed them because of their sins and nobody could protect them against the will of Allah. These powers have to know that the thoughts and methods based on oppression and injustice are doomed to failure. Do they not see the signs of vigilance and resistance based on monotheism, philanthropy and the justice-seeking spirit of the nations of the world? Do they not notice that we are nearing the sunset of the time of empires? I hope that this invitation will have a practical answer.
...
Humanity has passed a perilous precipice, and the age of monotheism, purity, affinity, respecting others, justice and true peace-loving has commenced.
...
It is a divine promise that the truth will be victorious and the Earth will be inherited by the righteous. You who are free, believers and the people of the world, put your trust in Allah.
...
Striving in this way to surrender rule to the righteous and perfect human, the promised one, is indeed the final cure for the wounds of humanity, the solution of all problems and the establishment of love, beauty, justice and a dignified life all over the world.
...
This belief and endeavor is the key to unity and the constructive interaction among nations, countries, the people of the world and all the true justice seekers.
...
Without any doubt, the promised one who is the ultimate savior, along with Jesus Christ and other holy saviors, will come. In the company of all believers, justice seekers and benefactors, he will establish a bright future and fill the world with justice and duty.
...
This is the promise of Allah, therefore it will be fulfilled.
