That Dilbert guy is kind of a jerk. Here's a piece from his Yom Kippur bog post on Amahdinejad - re Amahdinejad’s calling the holocaust a ‘myth’:

"Aren’t there any Iranian words for saying a set of historical facts has achieved an unhealthy level of influence on a specific set of decisions in the present?"

Oh goody. In the Red Star, premier mcslimey, mcliar, mca$$hole, mcleftard has promised not to raise taxes. Last time I heard that bull@#$%, my household's tax burden increased near 2 grand a year.

And my ROI on that bit of thievery?
1. less nurses now, then before the election
2. longer waiting lists for family doctors(including myself, no family doctor for over 5 years)
3. more canceled surgeries(my wife is a surgical RN)
And on and on and on.

If this moron gets re-elected, we WILL see a tax increase, and we will not see any improvement to our health care. Of this I have no doubt!

NASA reports that the amount of sea ice in the artic has set a new minimum record. I read the same report in the Vancouver Sun. While the minimum breaks the record set in 2005, what the Sun article missed is that this new minimum was set 5-6 days earlier than the old 2005 record. The fact that freeze-up has started earlier than 2005 may or may not be more important than the new minimum.

Found this in the archives. Actually, it was #2 on a google search --- a lot, alot of people in this world are seeing it :)

My impression of SDA and Kinsellas blogs are that Kate is concerned with being correct factually and consistent ideologically whereas Warren is concerned with "winning".

When one bases their arguements and ideological posistions on simply winning then one does really not stand for anything at all. Win at all costs truth be damned sums up Kinsella well, and it is perhaps why he is a successful lawyer.

But like a typical GTA liberal, Warrens position will be whatever is good for him today, yesterdays position being relegated to the dust bin.

Or as Warren said himself

"· Conservatives' ideology is their ideology: tax cuts, law and order, and so on. That kind of stuff. The Liberal ideology is, to be blunt, winning. Grits like to win, and they've had a lot of practice at winning. They're good at it. Right now, they're miserable, sure, because they LOST. But there's no better motivator for a Liberal than a loss. It gets them to where they most like to be: with their foot on a Conservative or New Democrat windpipe, watching them gasp for air until Election Day. That's when Liberals are happiest. It makes them smile. "

And thus in a single paragraph Warren illustrates why Liberal Party members are valueless, ideologically bankrupt, empty suits.

re Saskatchewan politics: did anyone else notice that the NDp just signed a new casino deal wiht teh FSIN: increasing the FSIN take of the profis to %50 from %30.
Is this anything other than a pre-election pay-off to secure FSIN support (again) for the NDP?
Why is no-one crying out loud about this?

anfd in SK (unlike other jurisdictions) profits was already defined as net profits, not gross profits.

Not that I have considered news magazines to actually be news magazines anymore but following Time and NewsWeek, Canada's MacLeans has stunk to a new low with their latest cover. I can't even think of anything to say that wouldn't include a few four letter words. The Leftoid MSM has did it again.

Posted by: Texas Canuck at September 23, 2007 3:06 PM

Not that anyone who possesses a reasonable amount of intelligence needs any further proof, but here is further evidence that the MSM is bereft of same, or has an agenda.

Seems they can't, or elect not to, recognize the difference between "...on record" and "... all time". Perhaps like the difference between several hundred years and several billion years.

Headline from the Telegraph.co.uk:

"Arctic sea ice 'melts to all-time low'
By Martin Beckford"

Lead paragraph from same:

"Sea ice in the Arctic shrank to the smallest area on record this summer, prompting fears it could melt completely within decades and speed up global warming."

I would be most interested to find out exactly how the AGW proponents, and trolls, defend this kind of male-bovine-excrement.

Posted by: Yoop at September 23, 2007 3:45 PM

Wow, you're not kidding, Texas Canuck - on the website, they have 2 articles about Stephane Dion rotating with one about Bush being "the next Saddam" and another about how people in North Korea like Kim Jong Il.

Oh, this is rich.

Ward: "When one bases their arguements(sic) and ideological posistions(sic) on simply winning then one does really not stand for anything at all."

Leader-Post, Feb. 10/07: "Brad Wall says this weekend’s Saskatchewan Party convention is all about getting ready for the provincial election expected this year, and he defended the fact that no policy will be debated." (emphasis mine)

Ron in Kelowna: the attribution for your post is hard to follow, but I assume everything beyond the first sentence is this Ward character's and not yours. Please correct me if I'm wrong -- I'd love to be able to attribute the quote to you. :)

WK made that point more than a year ago. I think he was speaking the truth, except for being so sure about the LPC winning thing)

What I found interesting is that he abandoned the LPC, IMO partly because of PMPM, for the correct reasons. But then he jumps to the McGuinty wagon which has the same dispicable qualities as the LPC.

But he jumps for the sake of .... winning !!??

Is that what he was getting at ? And, being a true Latte Liberal, he it is ok with that ?

One convention with no policy discussion is similiar to decades and decades of no policy scruples beyond winning ??

Yeah, I think the principle's the same. Especially in light of the growing rift between the hardliners and the moderates in the Sask Party membership: Wall knows he has to win this time or it's lights out for him and his party. So I really do think that both parties are in the same place.

Now, there's certainly an argument for edging out policy discussions in favour of election strategy at convention, but I don't feel that's in the best interest of the people. These decisions, right or wrong, need to be made by the party, and policy should be coming forward from the membership and constituency associations. Very nuts and berries, I know -- but I find it hard to believe that the people high up in a party know more about the needs of Saskatchewan's people than Saskatchewan's people do. And similarly, the rank and file don't know anything about running effective campaigns.

Sprawling Château. Man says he got cash 'gift' after zoning was changed
WILLIAM MARSDEN, The Gazette [...]

While campaigning for a seat to represent Charlevoix in the National Assembly, Marois said she lives in a modest home in the riding, overlooking the St. Lawrence River, and she invited journalists in to photograph it.

But her real home is on Île Bizard, where her $3-million château sits on 41.3 acres of lush gardens, fountains and large, glistening duck ponds.

She has never invited journalists inside its plush gates.

Part of the estate sits on land the Parti Québécois government expropriated in 1978 for the extension of Highway 440.

Marois and her husband have essentially merged their own acreage with the government land to create a manicured hideaway on Île Bizard they call "La Closerie" - The Small Estate. ...-

Two Italian soldiers have apparently been kidnapped by the Taliban/Al Qaeda in Afghanistan.

These kidnappings for ransom are going to occur more and more, as the Taliban/Al Qaeda move out of an ideological stance and into a straight criminality mode.

The same thing happened in Latin American, which saw the rise of Marxist/Maoist revolutionaries, funded by the Soviety Union, in the 50's and 60's. When the Soviet Union collapsed, their source of funds dried up.

These people were right from the start, unable to operate in mainstream economic and political society. And therefore, they moved into open criminality as their economic base. They moved into drugs and hostage taking in a big way; it's become a basic economy for them.

The same thing will be occuring in Afghanistan and Iraq. The ideologies of 'revolution' and installing a Pure Islamic Society will collapse and those people will turn to criminality, in particular, drugs and kidnappings.

Update: Marois Antoinette reads the Montreal Gazette? She is not content with the content. Tough. Let her read words.
"Demands retraction" is the clue to the woman; L'etat, c'est Moi. Her spouse will "sue". Sacre bleu.
BTW, does the "Montreal paper" have a version en francais? Or, is it unilingual English? If not, they better get one, tout de suite; or, it will be run outta Quebec, iffin Marois becomes le Chef.

I am not liking the verbiage of his statement.
Are we going to be satisfied with his program?
Civil lawsuits against illegal occupiers, at the taxpayer's cost and with unpredictable outcome? No effing way!
Insist on enforcing the law? Maybe make sure that the law is enforced?
I am sure we will be up for a rude awakening if he gets elected. It does not smell good.

I can't wait to hear how Magpie Hall-Findlay, Gerard(ignoramus interruptus)Kennedy, Pablo Mopriguez, Denis Codezbollah and all the usual suspects try and spin the tale of how the Libs are just one big happy family.

I read at National Newswatch that some are blaming the provincial Liberals for their defeat in Outremont, because Quebec is mad at Charest.

Talk about denial!
