When I was in Saskatchewan, I nearly always thought, "The sky's too big!" so, I know exactly how Mr. McMillan feels.

When I lived in Regina ... I was once discussing travel and specifically road trips. My favorite being around hilly country and twisty roads. After talking about such locations as the Rockies and Upstate New York or The Lakehead ... my buddy chirps

According to various "Green" organizations, we ran out of trees here in B.C., about twenty years ago.The Bowron clearcut can apparently be seen from Mars, or wherever those guys come from.

It's a well kept secret, but we live in a virtual desert, bereft of life, especially bears. No fish either. Oh, and just two golf courses for the whole Province.

All the fruit trees in the Okanagan were cleared to make room for condos, which is why you see apples from Chile and New Zealand in the stores.

Nope, nothing to see here, except the Olympics in 2010, which we all believe will be "revenue positive".

If you want to hear really silly and stupid comments, you should work at a Cdn port, as a Border guard. I will always remember the tourist that was only going to be in Canada for about 3 hours. He was going to Alaska. Then there were the ones who were only going a few miles, to see the thatched roofs in Quebec. This was at the AB crossing of Coutts AB. One woman actually went back to Great Fall, Montana, as she didn't have the chains etc needed to go to Alaska. She didn't think she could buy such things in Canada. This was 30 years ago, I remember because I was there the day Elvis died. Then there was the young girl, about 6, who said in shock, look mom, they have television here. Wonder if these tourists are still so ignorant of Canada.

bah.. not TRUE! Maybe where Kate is right now and is from but in northwestern Sask you can't see very far! Some places around here are having trouble getting high speed internet (off of a private company of course) because they can't get a clear line of sight over the TREES AND HILLS!!

That being said.. I did grow up in the southern part of the province so I would have to agree with your Dad's assessment Kate. And I know my boyfriend who has lived here northwest of Saskatoon all his life would also agree with the D9 theory.

You have trees!? Growing up on the Red River flood plain in southern manitoba, the tallest green things we saw were traffic lights!

Everyone in the country had a D9 for throwing up a quick berm about the entire lot to keep old man river out (especially after old Duff decided Whinnypeg should remain dry and who cares about the goyim outside?) and a D11 for serious stuff (like bragging about)

Answer: That's easy, they pile them up behind the barn in Banff where they keep the elk overnight.

I was posted in Moose Juice and the biggest hill I saw there was the Belle Plaine overpass! Of course that didn't include the Saskatoon landfill pile called Mount Jockstrap.

Of course the real reason there are so many ex Sask. Pats living in BC is because they are too scared to drive back through the mountains.

When the people of Sask. want to see a long ways they just look to the horizon. When we in B.C. want to see a long ways we look straight up. While you can see up to 100 miles we get to see millions of light years.

I grew up in Southern Sask in a small town.
I now live in a city in the Fraser Valley.
You could see 100 times the stars in Sask as well as magnificent displays of the northern lights.
Sask is truly the Land of Living Skys, but BC is Green all year round.

DUBLIN, Ireland (Reuters) -- An eagle that disappeared from Ireland more than 100 years ago took flight again on Thursday as part of a scheme to reintroduce native birds of prey to the country.

Ireland's Environment Minister released six young white-tailed eagles, one of the world's largest birds of prey, into a national park in the southwestern county of Kerry.

"These eagles had pride of place in the cultural and natural heritage of Ireland for hundreds of years but due to trapping and shooting in the 19th and early 20th centuries they became extinct," Minister John Gormley said.

The eagle chicks came from Norway and were flown into Kerry in June. Some 15 chicks will be brought into the region annually over the next five years as part of the reintroduction.

Many people probably don't realize that Ireland had very few forests about 30 years ago. They started a reforestation program after they broke free from Britain and became a republic and they started replanting indigenous trees. So if you haven't been in Ireland for a long time it's a big shocker to burn it from Moville to Buncrana (Lough Foyle to Lough Swilly) over the MacGilligan Mountains and suddenly see pine forests all over the place.

I heard where the NATIONAL WILDLIFE FEDERATION had a bunch of trees bulldozed so they can have a 285 space parking lot then all those rainforests destroyed for the place where they held their RIO EARTH SUMMIT then TED TURNER had a hill bulldozed so he could view a distent moutnian range and many enviromental groups acuialy own oil wells
