That's one small slip for a woman; a giant bleep for NASA.

Posted by: spurwing plover at August 9, 2007 12:43 AMA big "Thumbs UP" for Dave and to all great Canadians. THANKS and Good Luck, Orlin from Michigan, USA.
Posted by: Orlin at August 9, 2007 9:22 AMDave's livin' the dream of every dough-eyed kid who hasn't yet had limitations put on them by society.
I can understand why people with the resources would pay ridiculous amounts of money to experience what Dave's GETTING PAID to do.
Posted by: Reid at August 9, 2007 12:05 PMThe space shuttle was named Endeavour after the Royal Navy bark commanded by Capt. James Cook during scientific/discovery voyages of the 18th Century. Using the British spelling assures both accuracy and respect. It is also emblematic of our Anglo-Saxon heritage. You'll notice that no space shuttle has been named Santa Maria.
Posted by: Jeff in Pullman, WA at August 9, 2007 1:20 PMWas able to tour the Endeavour at the Australian National Maritime Museum in Sydney last November and I will tell you it wouldn't have been too much fun sailing aboard her unless you were only 4' nothing. With few exceptions, all the spaces below deck were crawl spaces.
A bit of trivia: On board the HM Barc Endeavour is a part that was actually taken by NASA into space by the flying Endeavour. Old world exploration meets new world exploration as it were. Now if I can only remember exactly what it was...
