An audience response for Diane Sawyer.

Posted by Kate at July 12, 2007 4:05 PMMost MSM members have turned into political hacks who know nothing about fairness and objectivity. As long as their message contains on their poltical masters talking points (almost always Liberal/Progressive) they feel they've done their job. No wonder a majority of thinking people feel the way they do about this declining profession.
Posted by: Daverbonz at July 12, 2007 4:19 PMAre you listening, Robert Fife? Craig Oliver? Giggles?
Posted by: Eskimo at July 12, 2007 4:27 PMI think that the MSM journalist ACTUALLY BELIEVE that they are unbiased. I think the type of self awareness required to recognize one's own biases are quite rare in people.
I think some of my opinions are just self evident to be correct, but someone with an opposing view point would probably consider my opinions to be biased.
So because of this I think it's impossible to have no bias in reporting.
Posted by: Reid at July 12, 2007 4:39 PMThese opinion makers don't interact with real people very often and when they do this is the kind of thing that happens. Its a major setback to them when the rabble hasn't been listening to them and in full agreement. They have to surround themselves with like-minded elitists to reinforce their worldview and feel all warm and fuzzy.
Posted by: John Chittick at July 12, 2007 4:42 PMIt should have been the most instructive moment of her life! Of course SHE chose to play the victim....
Posted by: OMMAG at July 12, 2007 4:57 PMMany of us in Canada have long known about Canadian MSM journalists exactly what Diane Sawyer's courtroom instinctually knew, but we are not laughing.
It's a sad tale of progressive leftists feeding Canadians their slant on all matters.
No FOX News equivalent in this country.
Eskimo's (4:27 pm) list is much too truncated and unfair to the rest of the leftist journalists for being omitted.
A list of the progressive leftist journalist swamp that bloats Canadian MSM.
And I said, 'That's what journalists do.' And everybody in the courtroom laughed. It was the most hurtful moment I think I've ever had."
Without skipping a beat in her most polished media manners, I doubt the poor bimbo really grasped the implications of the response or cared to spend any more time in her life verifying why the laughs came so easily.
For far too many years we've had these insipid deadbeats moving their lips in front of us. They can't disappear fast enough.
"No FOX News equivalent in this country."
What are you saying, Joe, that Fox Noise is unbiased? That there is no MSM of the right? That tubesteaks like Hannity and O'Rielly aren't knee-slappingly hysterical every time they open their yaps?
Posted by: Babs at July 12, 2007 6:02 PMHey babs, with Fox you also get the other side. Hannity gets to listen to that leftoid Colmes. Don't forget Geraldo 'Al Capone' Rivera. Fox may not be perfect but compared to the rest of the MSM, they are fair and balanced because they report; you decide.

Posted by: OMMAG at July 12, 2007 6:21 PMFox News is marginally better than most of the MSM. While you get the fair and balanced reporting / opinion / rude encounters etc, you also get male bimbos like Sheppard Smith and far too much Greta Van Crime Gossip, Geraldo, and saturation coverage of celebutant twits. At least they haven't yet outlawed the word Muslim.
No MSM (except BBC 4) has picked up the Great Global Warming Swindle including Fox News.
The highest quality programs from a political nature have come from CSPAN through their minuscule budget coverage of CATO Institute / American Enterprise Institute events, and other think tanks - no editorial whatsoever, just simple low cost video.
Posted by: John Chittick at July 12, 2007 7:07 PMRemember when pro wrestling used to insist it was a sport al la baseball, football etc. Well it seems people in the news business are just as clueless as the pro wrestlers of yor.
At least today wrestling has the good grace to call itself sports entertainment.
Having made this comparison I feel that I have done a disservice to those wrestlers as wow those guys do some amazing things in the ring. Are they stuntmen or is that stuff real. Probably both.
News folks could take lessons from those guys.
So should any wrestlers be having a hurtful moment from my comparison please accept my most profound apology.
Posted by: Jeff Cosford at July 12, 2007 7:47 PMLest some readers get the notion that I watch FOX News exclusively, set that notion aside.
Ted Turner's CNN was all Canadians could receive for too many years.
FOX News wasn't available to the Canadian public, yet it is my understanding, was carried in Ottawa to the pols in the H of C.
Why was that?
My belief it was the machinations of the Liberal government's incestuous relationship with corporate Canadian media and CRTC because of FOX more conservative take take on the news.
I can understand Babs and a younger age group educated and schooled in successive decades of "progressive public education thought" and MSM as being the norm or right wing coverage.
Even, I suspect, many Canadian journalists think of themselves in those misguided terms, yet note carefully how close to a full socialist state Canada has become over those decades.
Fair and balanced MSM?
Hardly.
So dispute my statement if you will, but be honest and don't kid the troops, nowhere in Canada is there a conservative MSM corporate voice "the equivalent of FOX Cable News, period!
Pity!
I agree with you John. C-Span, and to a lesser extent CPAC provide the only true news, as the information does not have to pass through the moonbat/leftard filter. Soon as one of those jerkoffs with a BA gets a hold of it, look out. I had a conversation on the weekend with trawna rubes who actually believed that Canada was involved in the Iraq situation. When I pressed them for the source of this info, one blurted out "CBC you fascist". Moonbat idiots, every last one of them!
Posted by: kingstonlad at July 12, 2007 8:39 PMJohn Chittick - "marginally better" is an understatement. What else have we got as Republicans/conservatives in the media?, nada. FOX isn't perfect, but, Neil Cavuto and the Brit Hume's News Hour are the best, most incisive, intelligent programs on the airwaves. O'Reilly just doesn't have the intellectual range to deal with the lefty moonbats that otherwise would be such easy targets. I curse him as much as applaud the fact that he takes on these dumb creature.
Our most important forum as conservatives is the Internet, thank God for women like Kate. At least we've found each other.
FOX and conservative talk radio flourish here. I can count on one hand conservatives access to the MSM. We aren't doing too badly as we turned the tide on the ridiculous Immigration Bill thanks to both forums.
We will prevail in taking down the Orwellian left's MSM, it's a matter of time and commitment. I'll tell you a funny story, years ago my youngest was riding the bus to work in Washington DC, she bought the WaPo at the station and spotted a scathing letter to the editor from her mom who at the time was living in New Mexico.
She phoned immediately flabbergasted, hey, it was a civics lesson.
kingston lad
"""" Moonbat idiots, every last one of them!"""""
carefull there, idiots are usefull at times, I doubt the same can be said for monbats
Although I'd probably turn on Fox before CBC or CNN, the lesson I have learned from the internet is to not rely on one sole source for your information. Read, listen or surf around then you are liable to form a better opinion.
For the record: All, I repeat all of the MSM has been guilty of Enquirer reporting lately. Paris Hilton stories I'd expect in the supermarket tabloids but lately, it has been as if the whole western hemisphere has been dummed down to the lowest common denominator in order to get ratings.
Posted by: Texas Canuck at July 12, 2007 10:15 PMMostly the lie or fabricate the only real trustworthy journalists are in cartoons or camic strips,CLARK KENT,JIMMY OLSON,LOIS LANE,SWEET POLY PUREBREAD,JACK RYDER etc
Posted by: spurwing plover at July 13, 2007 12:41 AMeveryone spits on alberta when she's flush and they try to beat her down to their level. sometimes they succeed with catastrophic results throughout the country but mostly felt in alberta when people walked away from their mortgage/business or sold them literally for $1 but nobody can afford to buy it. we didn't ask for government help then and certainly none was offered. western canada for the most part hasn't gotten fat and lazy on guvmnt largesse.
we work hard, play hard we are damn proud of our accomplishments, forward thinking and mobile. we live in the greatest part of the greatest country on earth. personally...I think they're jealous
The GMA story was about the blubbery senior Senator from MA dodging his civic duty.
The "man in Massachusetts" is unindicted manslaughter inflictor and serial scofflaw, Fat Teddy Kennedy, whom parents in Mass warn their children about not getting into a car with!
If Sawyer actually believes journalists have any credibility left, she is even more gullible or dishonest than she appears. She should be kicked in the butt until her mendacious liberal nitwittery exits her most prolific orifice.

Posted by: kelly at July 13, 2007 1:12 AMmanslaughter....mans laughter.
Posted by: kelly at July 13, 2007 1:20 AMFox News is rightwing, but it is far more balanced than the rest of the MSM. Any Fox viewer could easily come up with 15 liberals who either host their own show, co-host their own show, or are regular Democrat pundits. You couldn't come up with 15 conservative regulars in the US or Cdn TV news channels.
Plus, when Fox debates an issue, there is always one (or two) pundits from both sides. Yes, they have some shlock (Greta covering crimes ad nauseum, Red Eye), but that is probably the product of having to broadcast 24/7. Plus, Sheppard Smith's show is about as close to straight news as you can get; one hour of news with really no opinion.
The lefties like to whine that Fox News is loud because the debates get heated from time to time. However, as Ann Coulter accurately pointed out, the reason why political debate is more "loud" on Fox News is because conservative rightwingers have a chance to fight back. Think about it. How often do you see conservative rightwing pundits on CBC, CTV, and even Global?
