Merasty Quits

Well, that was a waste of a perfectly good TV.

The referenced artitcle states that: "Mr. Merasty's commitment to improving the quality of life for Canadians in Aboriginal and Northern communities is outstanding". Commitment? For 100 years commitment already. What about results? Whatever you've been doing, it isn't working. That's it. How 'bout trying something else?

How 'bout treating everyone as equal upon principle?

How 'bout getting rid of all race-based statues in Canada?

C'mon Vitruvius, treating everyone the same? Isn't that racist (sarc off)?

Posted by: Shamrock at July 11, 2007 8:09 PM

"Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion thanked Mr. Merasty for his tremendous contributions to the Liberal Caucus, his constituents and all Canadians."

Ok so he probably got some donations to help out the bankrupt libs ..... but exactly what contributions did he make to Canadians?

Keep one eye out for government funded projects involving Merasty's new venture!

Sarcasm aside, Shamrock, I didn't say "treating everyone the same". I said "equal upon principle", which is an Abe Lincoln phrasing. In principle, one should enjoy the successes and endure the failures of one's efforts, independent of one's race, class, or gender. I fail to see why this principle should not apply to Canadian Indians or anyone else. The Canadian Indians that I have worked with are doing fine. So what is the problem with the situation that ensconces those who aren't doing fine? That's the problem to be solved, and current approaches aren't working, they are just making things worse.

Brings to mind the phrase "rats leaving a sinking ship"...

Doesn't really matter - Jeremy Harrison did more for Northern Saskatchewan as a staffer in Ottawa than Merasty does. Looks like Jeremy didn't wait long enough before taking the SK Party nomination provincially.

So...is this were it ends? Was there any investigation by Elections Canada?Does Merasty just walk?I remember following that info closely post election, and then it all just dropped off the radar screen...how convenient.
The Libs have so many skeletons in the closet...I bet Dion is afraid to open the door.
BTW Kate...your title for this post(again) is a winner....sometimes we really have to laugh at this stuff.

Another Liberal running for cover or scuttling off the sinking canoe?
Will we learn the truth about what went on in that riding and have it reported far and wide?

OMMAG, doubt Nasty Merasty will get much money from the present government.

vf - there was an "investigation" by Elections Canada. They said that there was nothing wrong. There were a few interesting points, like the ballot box from one of the Northern polling stations being empty when it was brought forward, and another box being "lost" for a week and found in someone's home. But, of course, there was no wrong-doing from Elections Canada's point of view.

I'll bet Merasty running for public office was had in mind for one purpose only. Getting him a cushy job in the private sector. Parasites stepping after one year...

Finally, a liberal mp quitting BEFORE he qualifies for a pension, or entitlements.

"Hi wood ligg to tank mssr . merasty for his tremennous contrib bushun to da liberal party , what was some TV and to get a seat where we coood sen some izzy money to da libral pardy" Borat Dion.

Why did the name "Deanna Natale" pop into my head when I read this story? And "Chuck Guite?" And the word "Librano?"

Another Liberal jumps Dion's sinking ship.

If the Liberals keep resigning at this rate, the Bloc will form the official opposition by the end of the year.

lots of TV raffles here.

A "fifth Liberal MP" says Taber/G-M. Last count seen on the 'net showed 18 Liberal MPs who have absconded/jumped from Citizen Dion's Hot Air Balloon.
Dion's balloon soars higher into the Clouds.

Jane's Down-For-The-Count List:
"He is the fifth Liberal MP to step down, after long-time Liberals Jean Lapierre, Bill Graham, Jim Peterson and Stephen Owen."

A "veteran Liberal" says: "Dion has made the calculation easy."
BTW, will Goodale run again?

Dion loses a fifth Liberal MP

Elections Canada is corrupt.
Purple fingers for this riding next time.

Posted by: richfisher at July 12, 2007 9:52 AM

Is it just a coincidence that something like 15 Libs have called it quits since Steffi let Garth Turner into the caucus? Dion has turned the LPC into a joke - a joke that only Shameless Jane Taber and the gang haven't gotten yet.
