An astonishing backdrop containing more than 9 million LEDs has been created for the Genesis "Turn It On Again" world tour.
XL Video UK has supplied 15,089 Barco O-Lite LED panels with 270 control boxes, plus 102 Mitsubishi 16:8 high-resolution LED panels.
The O-lite panels make up a spectacular back wall measuring 13 metre high and 55 metre wide. This is surrounded and topped by 7 lighting towers (“ribs”) reaching heights of up to 28 metres, with the entire structure resembling a giant conch shell. This was designed by Mark Fisher/Stufish.

The succeeding posts in the main page don't exdent to the normal left margin.)Perhaps we could lend a green hand and send over all our old Lite-Brites to the cause. That would cut back on LED emmissions for sure.
Posted by: Texas Canuck at July 6, 2007 7:46 PMYikes, worse than that. It was an unclosed table tag.

The question as to why Al Gore was organizing this big Rock Concert tour.

:
1: he is a megalomaniac
2: he want all the publicity a presidential candidate can get
3: he will be getting a mountain of money
4: he hasn't yet realized that the climate change horror show has jumped the sharkGuys,
Let's cut Genesis a break. Obviously they care about the environment or they wouldn't be "Raising Awareness(tm)" for Climate Change.
Speaking of "Raising Awareness", it's the new hip term for youngsters to use when they're not doing anything to help.
Ask Dr. Suzuki about what he wants your "climate change" donations for, and it'll be for raising awareness. Amen, David, Amen.
Posted by: Jon at July 6, 2007 8:10 PMThe best part about Genesis "Raising Awareness" is that they need a fleet of 90 trucks to do it.
Posted by: DDT at July 6, 2007 9:29 PMSmug, sanctimonious pretentious crap.

Posted by: jlc at July 6, 2007 9:44 PMYanni, I pick #3, and if the world needs a concert to promote Global Warming awareness, then there can't be much of a problem in the first place, can there?
Posted by: Joanne at July 6, 2007 9:48 PMSorry about the multiple posts - there was no response first time.
Anyway, gives me an opportunity to remind SDA readers that Tim Blair has an entertaining roadkill(dear to our hearts) post ongoing.
Posted by: jlc at July 6, 2007 9:48 PMI think I'll celebrate Live Earth by downloading a shared MP3 or two. No plastic for a CD cover, no paper for CD inserts, no wasted plastic on a CD, and no wasting cash for hypocrytical 'artists'.
This event is as about as Green as the Sask. NDP's direct to slag ewaste recycling program.
No pixels were harmed in my sarcastic intent to malign pompus false green gods because I have enough solar and wind power credits in addition to my green credits for zero till farming to offset many pokes in a greenies eyes for decades to come.

I know whenever someone mentions millionaire
rock stars... the first thought that runs through
my mind is "guardians of mother earth."*
Posted by: neo at July 7, 2007 12:23 AMHow many birds will they keep awake with their loud music? How many kilowatt hours of energy will they use? and how much CO2 will they put into the upper stratoshear while their pulling off this big green rip off? I mean its no different then those rediclous SAVE THE RAINFORESTS concerts they held back in the 1990s SCREW AL GORE SCREW LIVE EARTH and will SHERYLE CROW be there advising them aboutt he toilet paper?
Posted by: spurwing plover at July 7, 2007 12:40 AMPerhaps they believe all this wattage is the 'light at the end of the tunnel'.
There are some really scary people out there. Go look, and see for yourself:
http://draftalgore.meetup.com/53/
The lead for this Draft-Al-Gore site says this:
"The Greater Cleveland Draft Al Gore Meetup Group in association with AlGore.org recognizes that the earth is in a planetary emergency and one person is truly qualified to lead the nation in these troubling times. Yes, Al Gore, the statesman, an expert on global warming and a man of character."
Sounds like music to the ears, does it not?

I heard some celebrity/big shot say of Gore after his movie came out, "where was this guy during the election? He would have won!!"

Um, don't they know why they give Oscars for editing?I watched a few minutes of Live Earth about an hour ago. Other than some decent heavy rock band from Japan, it was 'birkenstocks' as usual.
The thing that always amuses me is the lack of informed commentary that spews forth from these urban yokels. They can't put together an intelligent, simple sentence, let alone convey a realistic position.
No fossil fuels! No nuclear! Eat 10% less meat so we can feed the third world! Use alternative fuels! (execpt that nothing come from nothing no matter how many trees you hug)
Park the tour bus and ride a bicycle.
I would like to foresee a zillion sandle clad urbanites freezing on their bicycles while trying to grow food in their balcony pots - the rest of us can simply bugger off into the bush and live a hard but fulfilling life.
Won't happen though. As soon as the city turds figure out that they made a bad choice - which won't be long in the grand scheme of things - they'll come around.
Might even start wearing proper shoes!

Maybe while he's at it... Al could execute some refugees
to raise awareness of the situation in Darfur.*
Posted by: neo at July 7, 2007 12:04 PMI really enjoy the irony of the rock concert to save the world. Especially because Big Al and his wife Tipper were all up in arms in the past about how heavy metal music should be banned because it is destroying children.
A rock concert for the environment is like a war for peace, or f**king for virginity.
