Beyond that, as I've said many times, the biggest problem I have with Arabs is they don't treat their wimmen right.
Posted by: The Phantom at June 27, 2007 9:09 AMThis seems to me to be a rather innocuous example of how young North Americans of Muslim faith are interweaving aspects of Western culture with their religious beliefs, without abandoning either. Leaving aside your snide remarks about Ms. Arbab's particular fashion sense, what exactly is your problem with this, Kathy?

Posted by: RandyAndy at June 27, 2007 9:31 AMYou realize of course that these women are already sinning and should be stoned according to the serious Imams. In a religion that has young girls maimed or killed because they dared to wear makeup or nail polish, these western faithful are just asking for the vengence of Allah.
Will a modern, western style of islam catch on and bring the religion of peace into the twentieth century? I doubt it but it would be nice.
This woman is dressed like an infidel whore, what with those tight jeans. Her father and brothers must honor-kill this bitch before Islam is further humiliated!

"...and bring the religion of peace into the twentieth century?"
That's asking for a religion still deeply mired in the 7th Century to morph into a twenty-first Century version - in one generation.
I think we'd better lower our expectations a tad.
