2nd Annual SaskBlogs BBQ in Regina

July 8, 2007 (noon) at Goose Hill Park (Science Center).

Krydor has suggested we make an effort to “go green” this year, so even though I’ll have paper plates/cups/napkins/plastic utensils on hand, please feel welcome to bring your own reusable tableware. There may be carpooling opportunities, so if you’re looking for a ride from Saskatoon, or can offer one, leave a note in the comments here.

In that spirit, I'm suggesting we have a gopher derby - so please feel welcome to bring your guns and garden hoses!

(More details at the link.)

Are ex-stooners in Toronto invited?
I gotta go out there, don't know when yet, but might be about then.

I thought garden hoses were for siphoning gas.

"so please feel welcome to bring your guns and garden hoses!"

will Premier Lorne Calvert be there? or was he successful at building that fence he refered to regarding the great NDP reader poll that brought me to read S.D.A. every day.
ah... the poll that didn't count your vote if you weren't in agreement with them. (has there been more than one ?)

go "saskatchewan" green and white..the greatest and patientest CFL fans in the league!

Posted by: kelly at June 21, 2007 1:19 AM

Seeing as Calvert hadn't even heard of SDA until it told him his Flag poll was a sham, it's unlikely he'd like to hang out with bloggers.

"Take the train out.(dont like to shoot and drive)."
No trains to Regina, the NDP converted it into the casino instead.

Brian, hope you can show up, it'd be good to have an easterner. We have at least one AB family coming out.

Did anyone ever read anything about the footprint of plastic cutlery versus metal cutlery? I have no idea which is more environment friendly, would love to.

Posted by: Aaron at June 21, 2007 1:25 PM

saskboy; Not to put to fine a point on it but the train station is now a casino because the federal government gutted Via Rail in the 80's and the building sat empty for years. There is plenty to blame the NDP for but this is actaully one of the (few) success stories.

Posted by: kevink at June 21, 2007 1:53 PM

I'm pretty handy with a rifle; I might just have to show up!

"There is plenty to blame the NDP for but this is actaully one of the (few) success stories."

If you count convincing people to pour money into an addictive pastime a success, then you're quite right :-) And too true about the Feds gutting Via and rail lines in general. The Provincial government was all too complicit in that process though the last 20 years. Hopefully we can talk more about this at the BBQ ;-)

In my defense, I was riffing on the green movement.

http://krydoristan.blogspot.com/2007/05/sask-blogs-lets-do-our-part.html

That being said, bringing reusable plates and utensils is a practical idea.

Posted by: Krydor at June 22, 2007 11:25 AM

In my defense, it was a riff on the greenies!

That being said, re-usable plates and stuff make sense for camping, so they should make sense for a public picnic area.

sounds like fun.... Have one problem though.

Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to get shells for my .22 ??? The entirey of the southwest is sold out the second the truck is comes in. I doubt they even get unloaded to the store... just to waiting buyers. I haven't found a single shell anywhere near Swift Current south or west for what seems like weeks.

I am not holding out hope for Regina during the Farm Progress show either.

I am down to a handful of shells from the several thousand I started with this spring. If I don't find some soon I am going to have to use shotgun shells or something :(

maybe birdshot. or get out the sprayer and use furodan.... on... giant, 6 inch, brown, furry, "flea beatles" hmmmmm....
