Without A Fight

Real Clear Politics;

On May 17th, Sandy Berger, President Bill Clinton's National Security Adviser, voluntarily gave up his law license and with it the right to practice law. That is a stunning move for an accomplished lawyer, one of the nation's most influential public officials. Someone should take note. In fact, everyone should.

Berger previously entered a deal with the Department of Justice after he was caught stealing and destroying highly sensitive classified material regarding the Clinton Administration's handling of terrorism issues. That deal allowed him to avoid jail time, pay a modest fine, and keep his law license. It also allowed him to avoid full explanation of what he had taken and why he had taken it.

What information was worth risking his reputation, his career, and his freedom to keep hidden? And who was he risking that for?

Recently, the Board of the DC Bar, which had granted Berger his license, began asking those questions. There was only one way to stop that investigation, to keep from answering questions about what he did and why he did it, to keep the Bar from questioning his colleagues in the Clinton Administration about what had been in the documents Berger destroyed.

It's astonishing - even given the overwhelming liberal-left bias of the American media - that the Plame non-crime received so much attention, and this much more serious scandal so little. Read the whole thing.

With such criminal activity, one would think that Patrick Fitzgerald would be all over this guy. Then again, he did do a plea bargain.

Looks like Steyn's assessment of the US justice system is bang on.

It isn't the US Justice system;it's a political insiders' system. What are the Democrats hiding? I particularly liked the reference to 'Bill Clinton's third term'. That's exactly what's going on with Hillary Clinton; the people would be getting, not just her, but 'Bill'.

Isn't he the President of the Hell's Angels?
(Whoopsie- that is SONNY Barger!?!)
Speaking of lawyers- I like the guy who posted his occupation as a "piano player in a cathouse", because he didn't want his kids to know what he did for a living..............

I blame spineless Republicans for letting go of Berger. Bush has control of the DOJ.

He should be doing prison time for destroying classified documents. Period.

He speaks to the absolute corruption of the Clintons, America's First Grifters. Afer all, he was only doing Bubba's bidding. But, then, Bubba has had his law license taken away too. Parity.

"Speaking of lawyers- I like the guy who posted his occupation as a "piano player in a cathouse", because he didn't want his kids to know what he did for a living"

I don't remember him mentioning his kids with that joking reference. Why would he? He knows his kids would be proud of a father with a challenging and well paid profession.
That's why I enjoy it, it's also more interesting than what a lot of people do. I tend to make jokes also, but that's just exhaustion with the usual witless comments and threadbare jokes.

Amazing. Never heard a peep anywhere until right here.

The info he destroyed was supposed to be on terrorist plans for the USA, which clinton did nothing about, unless a bimbo eruption was about to take place. If that info had been left, maybe 9/11 could have been averted. Rush covered this long and hard when he was caught.

Kate said "It's astonishing - even given the overwhelming liberal-left bias of the American media - that the Plame non-crime received so much attention, and this much more serious scandal so little."

I have to disagree, Kate. The Plame non-crime was an attempt to "get" Karl Rove and Bush. "Getting" Sandy Burgler will reflect badly on Saint BIll Clinton.

He stole the documents in 2003. If they contained smokin-hot terrorist plans then it leads to the obvious question of what Bush et al. did with the same information up until Sept. 2001.

Rush is a bit of a joke. The other day he was blathering away on his usual rant about the "drive-by media", how they think they're the gatekeepers of the truth, they try to control the agenda, blah, blah, blah. Then in almost the next breath he's boasting about how *he* is "going to pick the next Republican presidential nominee", and a little later a guy phones up and says he supports Tom Tancredo and Rush immediately cuts him off and warns his call screener to "stop Tancredo and Ron Paul supporters from spamming the show."

If it wasn't for Limbaugh and Drudge nobody would know about Sandy Burglar -at all-. Or Monica. Or Hitlery's medical program, remember that jewel from the '90s?

Never underestimate the inherent crookedness of the American MSA and the DemocRats.

ugh, you seem to have trouble grasping rush's humor

The duality of the left was on wide display during the Klintonista days...slick was a womanizing rapist but he recieved full support from the fembo left....he was an elitist regulator, but he recieved support from unions even though he sold out America's working class to foreign importers. He set speech restrictions and sweeping laws that restricted publishing from enunciating politically correct subjects...even with this vile attack on the first amendment the left media supported him.

Bottom line is the left knew he was a scumbag but he was THEIR scumbag.
