I Still Say You'd Look Fabulous In A Dodge Diesel Duallie

"My father once met an early ecofreak in New England somewhere, who had hooked up his IBM Selectric to a power-generating windmill. The man was very proud of his little accomplishment, which allowed him to tap out his Whole Earth hippie blather without burning any fossil fuels. Papa’s confidential comment was, "Why doesn't he use a [deleted] manual typewriter?"

I wish mine was a diesel, the 318 only gets eleven mpg in town.

Somewhere a greenie is screaming at his computer now. ~:D

Mine gets 14 on the highway.

"Whereas everything these ecofreaks sell is false and ugly."

All ecofreaks are false and ugly.

/there, fixed that.

You gotta hate me, mine does 31.3-31.4 on a highway. It's turning 14 years in a few days.

In a Dodge pickup with a 318? I couldn't get that milage that good being towed.

@Kate: Perhaps this hippie fellow also used his windmill for an electric toothbrush.

Hippies don't brush their teeth ....they use little tiny willow branches to get the food out between their teeth.

It's more natural. :-)

and, when they lose teeth, they just live with it, because, once again, "it's more natural."

Chev has come out with a 285 HP V-8, that gets 27 mpg on the highway.

Time to trade in those old Dodge gas guzzlers, and help the auto industry,Buzz will love you for it. Just think of the carbon credits.

My truck is paid for. Repairs are pennies compared to post '95 models. That buys a lot of gas.

:)

Mine's a 2001 Ram 1500, I'm going to drive it until I get my money out of it. Should be right around 2020. Maybe shoehorn in a BIG freakin' motor sometime. If I'm going to get crappy mileage at least it should be able to burn the tires, eh?

Repairs to date, two U-joints in the front end. That's about to change, I have to do the bearings in the rear end because its "singing" lately. Well, and the doors are developing some leprosy. Break out the welder.

Gotta love Princess Auto though. Rear axle bearing puller set $29.99, on sale this week. ~:D Woo hoo!

Yup, pretty smart driving a gas-guzzling truck, especially in the city (more understandable in rural areas, 'specially if the roads suck ass).

Why innovate or try to conserve in any way when you can piss your money away and keep doing things the same way you've always done them?

"Hippies don't brush their teeth ....they use little tiny willow branches to get the food out between their teeth."

That was pretty funny, anonymous, especially coming from someone who probably lost their teeth in a bar fight long ago. Maybe if you buy a more fuel-efficient car you can afford some dentures.

Toldja there'd be a greenie yelling at his computer. ~:D

Posted by: The Phantom at March 24, 2007 11:27 AM

Because, you know - nobody in the "city" does anything but work in an office.

True Kate. I've always wondered how those Smart Car owners make it home with 4x8s of drywall when I see them parked at Home Depot. One would be lucky if that wee little thing could bring home a box of screws.
