It is in the capacity of hope-beacon that Ms. Watt-Cloutier heads a delegation which will travel to Washington this week - "entering the very belly of the beast", as reporter Andrew Gumbel puts it. The reason for her journey (presumably to be made by kayak) is, according to an Indy article published earlier this month, to "provide first-hand testimony of how global warming is destroying their way of life and to accuse the Bush administration of undermining their human rights."He thinks her trip may have been to the wrong address, though. This is too rich. I am sure the Globe and CBC will headline the hoax. And ask Sheila if she will demand that her people switch, cold turkey, to dog sleds. Entirely. No exemptions. Not even when Al Gore and David Suzuki visit her in the Igloo, heated with whale oil, of course. To make another docudrama, of course.
And we though there was only one Tinsel Town. The United Nations is much bigger also.

Referendum passed with about 97% . . . on a CLEAR question.
