Hope it sticks!
Posted by: Hunter at February 23, 2007 8:53 PMHere's the only good aspect to this - his presence has already started warping every future liberal leadership contest and will continue to do this until the day he is named leader, or quits.
What decent god-fearing liberal would run against this guy? (god = st pierre) Even if you won, it would be like winning a fist fight against a member of the clergy - what would people think of you?
Dion's probably safe - they'll let him fumble for a couple of terms, waiting until the annointed one is deemed ready. Better yet, they'll do what over eager sports teams do and rush their draft choice in before he's ready.
Folks, it bodes well. Of course, the annoyance factor may kill a lot of us.
Nobility? Truly PETulant!

Quite a transformation, now he wishes to federally represent his riding's constituents. It must be a sweet job, high pay, lots of free time, lots of flunkies and ass-kissers, expense account, boondoggle trips. There's no business like show business.

Thought Dion was going to aim for 33% women candidates. So far, the ridings seem to be taken up by males, Rae has his chosen place, Kennedy has snagged one. Martha Findlay, an also ran has no riding with her name on it and has no idea where she'll end up.
She can only hope Belinda decides to hike it out of politics and gives Newmarket-Aurora back to her.

I can only remember the recent loving profile he did of Fidel for the MNM. He extolled to the max the benevolent and economically balanced Island of Paradise. Well Justin, Ive spent an agregate of about six months in your friend's communist jewel. I spent american money, drove american cars, played softball with Cubans who opened up after a few Red Stripe, and heard some rare old stories about all the so-called advances.
They built a camp near the hotel I stayed at that was for the Cuban people for free holidays. A bunch of one room galvanized shacks and a swimming pool. The five or six times Ive been there, there were no holidayers, and I never saw any water in the pool.
If this is what Trudeau thinks is paradise he is just what the Liberals need.

Let Trudeau run. He might actually have to do hustling in the next election, which would be a first for him.
Posted by: Oakvillain at February 24, 2007 12:01 AMAlbatros,
You're kidding about "fear" in the conservative ranks, right? The day dion was coronated liberal king was a gleeful day for us - by so doing they banished themselves to political oblivion for 4 years. It took 2 years for the electorate to see that mr. dithers was not a leader. During the next campaign dion will be seen for what he is - a retrograde 70's big government socialist.
And as for the son of maggie, I fear he'll run off to new york to work as an entertainment spokesmodel before he gets within sight of the throne.

I read that his running would cause young liberals everywhere to vote liberal. What could he do for a young liberal in AB? What his candidacy will do is remind the thousands who suffered under his dad to remember and vote anything but liberal. And where are all those Bush haters that have said he was just trying to finish his fathers plans. His dad had plans that were never implemented, that were bad for Canada. Will his son try to finish them.
Over 4600 fans and curlers honored our troops today by wearing RED and paying respect to all the veterans at the Enmax in Lethbridge tonight.

Then the CTV showed a clip of liberal minister Pettigrew, in a press conference in the same place and pointed out others liberals, beside him, had done the same. The statue was also covered, and ctv pointed that out, and the fact the media and liberals had not made a big deal about it. Could it be that some of the media is getting tired of the liberals trying to make a big deal out of nothing.

"Social justice" - the Liberal code word for redistribution of wealth by closet communists.

You'll have an uphill fight, just as you would getting people to call Margaret Thatcher's son "the son of Sir Denis Thatcher". PET did something noteworthy with his life, to our everlasting sorrow. What did Margaret do?

With Castro so ill, guess Justin will have to refuse to be a pallbearer when the time comes. Bad for his image as a liberal candidate. I don't think dion wants him on his team, but with his ability to put his foot in his mouth, (sometimes both) any attempt to torpedo justin will fail big time. Another example of dions leadership, do as I say not as I do, as he was put in cabinet before he was elected, and then parachuted into a riding, after the sitting member was put in the old folks home, otherwise known as the senate.
The msm is expecting PMSH to cave re the terrorist bill, to save face. Don't count on it. It will be dion who will have to cave and allow a free vote.

The Fantastical World of Stephane Dion.
Said Dion: "My first interest was for the society of animals, not of man. We had a neighbour named Gaston Moisan, a biologist who was deputy minister of natural resources. He set traps for the rabbits, to band them, and used to take me with him. He was 5'7", but he was a giant for me."
Said Gaston Moisan: "I don't know how he could have imagined that. I had nothing to do with Stephane. And I never sensed any interest on his part for my work."
There's lots more where this came from. Dion is the gift that gives and gives.
The next election campaign is going to be fun. Especially knowing how angry little Stephy gets. Not to mention the optics. French citizen Stephy with his backpack on, saying adieu to his turtle named Trotsky.
Heh.
Kate. I'm glad you picked up on this. All I say is follow the money. It leads right back to Pierre Trudeau and before. The big Canadian connection is obvious of course.
The Charter was written the way it was for a purpose. It allows the creation of new law outside of Parliament. The Charter of course is under the oversight of the PMO, not Parliament. Coincidence? I think not.
This "New Law" allows things like NAFTA, which is a direct leadin to the North American Superstate and complete corporate fascism.
The various scandals like the sponsorship scandal, Oil for Food and, of course, Kyoto, are just examples of "insiders" making a buck here and there. Some, like Kyoto, are also examples of the huge tansfer of wealth from the middle class to the upper group of "controllers" and their elite. Steven Harper is right in not supporting Kyoto. The problem is that he can only do so much with a minority.
Certain Canadians elites are right in the middle of this world-wide movement. The problem for me is that these creeps, this ruling dynasty, controls all parties in Canada.
As Mark Steyn has said, these people have turned Canada into a third world kleptocracy. Most Canadians have, and are still, dozing through it all. One day they will wake up and wonder where their country went.
Alberta is the only way out of this mess. And it's almost too late for them.
Keep on this story.

Trudeau entering politics is the best thing that can happen to the conservatives. Trudeau is an empty shell with all the depth of Paris Hilton. The Libranos still don't get it as they continue to look to empty suits like Trudeau whose only accomplishment is that he is famous for being famous. This strategy is a real solid foundation for rebuilding a party and improving its image. Keep up the good work.
I am always bemused that those who are so quick to pooh-pooh poor old Queen Elizabeth II and her family as archaic relics of hereditary privilege are always so ready to prostrate themselves before dynasties of political snake-oil salesmen and other conmen.

After all, we DO have the same health care system as Cuba and North Korea. So, we are already part way there to the communist "paradise" this little Liberal socialist elite envisions for all of us little people.

Mini Pet Trudeau wants to bring 'nobility' back to politics. How bloody arrogant can he get?
Of course it was his fuddle duddle, mealy-mouthed father that started Cdn politics descent into the hell of unnobility.
I was astounded that the crooked Liberal City Party of the Past picked an ivory tower Prof and French citizen from the unilingual French university in Montreal as its leader.
How lucky could PMSH get?
And now they pick another mini-blast from the Past.
I'm betting it will take another 20 years before the Libs figure out that the WEST is where the action and power is.
And as the population figures show, it will never return to Quebec.
1971 Quebec 6.137 million
West Canada 5.839
2005 Quebec 7.651
West Canada 9.903
What's the old saying:
'Be careful how you treat people on the way up because you might meet them again on the way down.'
From the CJOB interview: Asked if he would follow in his father's footsteps, he replied: "We shall see."
I'm surprised no one has picked up on the similarity to his(in)famous father who said: "Just watch me".
