CPAC now...on Canadian Wheat Board...
Posted by: Buffalo Bean at March 2, 2007 12:45 PMHow will the liberals respond to the spanking canada got from the UN for allowing safe injection sites, and accusing Canada of encouraging the illicit drug trade. Remember the outrage from them when PMSH talked of defunding said sites. Guess our PM was right, and this will give him the moral highground to shut them down.
After all, isn't it the liberals who support everything the UN says and does.
An excellent piece by Gwyn Morgan from Monday's Globe and Mail regarding Green House Gas Emissions.

Go big, Charest
By LICIA CORBELLA
"Quebec, Quebec, Quebec. Blah, blah, blah. It's always about Quebec. Fifty stinking years of Quebec blackmailing this country with it's limp threat to separate."
That's how an e-mail sent to me yesterday began. It was written by a man who asked to be described as Jacques, "a former Quebecer and long-time proud Albertan."
His letter referred in particular to Quebec Premier Jean Charest's Wednesday election call and how that tidbit of info dominated the news cycle and likely will long after the polls close on March 26. In contrast, other provincial election calls usually garner a brief mention on national newscasts.
True enough. That's the reality in Canada. What Quebec does and what Quebec wants leads the agenda.
That the election call came one day after the feds announced a March 19 budget day leaves many non-Quebecers feeling cynical about the timing and most Albertans fearing Prime Minister Stephen Harper is going to break another election promise and change the equalization formula that determines how much so-called "have not" provinces get from "have" provinces.
Undoubtedly, Charest has been promised by Harper there will be good news for Quebec in the federal budget.
How much good news is the question.
Many non-Albertans believe the wild rose province is "greedy" and doesn't share its wealth. It is an unfair perception based on ignorance.
According to Alberta MLA Ted Morton, since 1961, Alberta has contributed $220 billion net to the rest of Canada and during that same period Quebec raked in $211 billion net in equalization transfers.
What has that bought us? It certainly hasn't purchased unity.
There is really only one way to end the neverendum threat -- by Jean Charest winning the election then promptly holding a referendum to end all referendums.
If Charest wants to be more than just the boy simply stalling the inevitable tide of separatist fervour, or at least the eventual change of government to a separatist one, he should hold a referendum.
Many people will say holding another referendum would be tempting fate.
However, the difference with a referendum held by Charest as opposed to a nationalist government would be the question asked. The wording of the 1995 referendum question was impossible to understand:
"Do you agree that Quebec should become sovereign, after having made a formal offer to Canada for a new Economic and Political Partnership, within the scope of the Bill respecting the future of Quebec and the agreement signed on June 12, 1995."
Polls showed most Quebecers didn't have a clue what that meant. The day before that fright night the vast majority of Quebecers actually believed a Yes vote would not mean Quebecers would lose their Canadian passports or any other Canadian benefit. They were duped.
With a voter turnout of 93%, the No side barely won, with 50.6% of the vote.
But that close call proved nothing. The question should be simple and to the point: Should Quebec separate from Canada? Yes or No?
Let Quebecers know what that entails. No passports, no disaster relief funding, no more federal government contracts and make-work projects, no more equalization, the removal of federal property from Quebec, including many art works and archives, etc.
Such a referendum is the only way Canada can be assured the blackmail will end. The Clarity Act is supposed to ensure a clear question is asked, but the PQ have already declared they will frame any question they want and will assume yes means yes. How would we stop them?
It's not likely Charest will hold a referendum, but for those of us in the ignored regions, it's a nice dream to contemplate since it helps tune out the interminable blah, blah, blah of Quebec, Quebec, Quebec.

Liberal supporters aghast at alleged "lies." The world never ceases to amaze and amuse.
Posted by: Mississauga Matt at March 2, 2007 1:30 PMHmmm. Pat Martin (NDP) just called the government fascists and stated that they were worse than Mussolini. This was right at the end of the CWB debate today. Don't think the NDP will be able to complain about decorum in the house after that.
I'll be checking Hansard to see the exact wording once available.
Posted by: mecheng at March 2, 2007 1:35 PMI take it from your comment Matt that you are neither aghast nor surprised by Harper's lies.
This really is a new low. Say what you will about the Liberals (and little has been left unsaid here), I can't recall any former Prime Minister, including Mulroney, lying about other MPs like that, deliberately trying to impugn their reputations with outright falsehoods. The worst I think you could say they ever did was get their underlings to say mean things about the opposing side.
And there is no alleged about it. Harper accuses two MPs of appointing their husbands to the immigration review panel, including the former Minister of Immigration. Problem is, in the first case, the former minister's husband was actually appointed by Brian Mulroney and, in the other, she wasn't even an MP!
Deciding you could never vote Liberal is one thing. Denying that Harper is getting more and more out of control, personally nasty and vicious is another thing altogether.

On another topic did anyone catch David McGuinty squirming last nite on CPAC when asked by Van Dusen if Dion is going to implement a Carbon Tax if he becomes the government.
Van Dusen was just losing it as McGuinty evaded, changed subjects did everything possible to Not Answer the Question, Yes or No.
I guess it runs in the family Brother Dalton answers the same way. Pinochio Twins.

It's a little late to huff and puff about it now.
Posted by: Mississauga Matt at March 2, 2007 2:08 PMSo because you think some Liberals did some bad things in the past.... any Canadian citizen who voted for them in the past doesn't have a say in the political process anymore? Is that what you mean Matt? We aren't allowed to talk about how our government is performing? Is that what you are saying?
Just put up and shut up about Harper's flip flops, lies, arrogance, and his gimmicky government of politics over policy?

Posted by: cal2 at March 2, 2007 2:34 PMRegarding disappearing polls:
I do know that sometimes online polls get blitzed by a person or group of people with a certain agenda. And when this happens, it's obvious by the number of votes deviating dramatically from the average number of votes in the polls typically, the website will often just take it down.
What I would suggest to CTV is that if this is the case they should make a note on their website when they do it. I know that CHQR radio will tell you when their poll results have been compromised and they are not going to report the results the next day.

He said they appointed their husbands to the immigration panel and they weren't even there when it happened. One of them was in fact appointed by Brian Mulroney.

Your sounding awfully desperate.
The Conservatives will need at least a decade to clean the Liberal sleaze/corruption and profound
state of entitlement.
Harper is on his way to being the best Prime Minister we've had in memory.
He took a hit on the Income Trust file but he had the guts to do the right thing. That's a Leader.
You won't find him out promising all things to all
people to get votes. He has principle. We can expect fairness.
We'll have an Armed Forces to protect us and our way of life at home and abroad, something the Liberals ignored for several decades.
The Liberals are out for the long term, get used to it. The people of this Country are not about to
give the reins of power to a Party divided and in
extreme state of flux.
Ted,
Wow man. Calm yourself down. Harper is here, will be for awhile so do not wear yourself out. He must be doing something right if he can work you up like this.

"I do not understand this Jean Harper comment"
I think little teddy boy is trying in vain to compare screw face with our PM.
The point is that Harper is just Jean Chretien in blue. Partisanship over policy. Politics over priniciple.
Funny thing is, when Jean Chretien came into office after a corrupt government, he introduced then what were the toughest accountability measures ever. Was the first to introduce the very idea that all government contracts should go through a procurement process instead of just handed over to friends. And then after years the arrogance and corruption settled into the government.
Harper is an over achiever. He's accomplished in 13 months an arrogance and disregard for Canadians that took the Liberals in 13 years to accomplish. No bid contracts to friendly firms. Partisan appointments to the judiciary. Lowering the level of debate in the House for partisan gain.
He probably will win the next election. Especially with all of the support and anti-Liberal/anti-Dion bias of the MSM these days.
But Chretien wasn't a good PM just because he could beat the Conservatives and win elections. In fact, the ease with which he could do so actually made him more arrogant and a less good PM.
We're seeing the same phenomena today with Jean Harper. Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss. Only his socks are blue.
Posted by: Voice at March 2, 2007 3:31 PMTed, sure is to bad you got yourself in a not over this, the Liberal's haven't proved it isn;t true what Harper said, they just crie like kids on a play ground anytime someone says something about them that may be considered slighly below the belt, Liberal's like to dish out a lot od thing's remeber the whole hidden agenda thing, they used that for 2 or 3 elections and there crying ususally leads me to believe that you must have struck a nerve when they wine like they do. If you are going to call people all the things that Liberal's have called conservatives over the years and can't take it when someone throws something back than you should stay out of politics

MSM bias? Man, that was good for a laugh. The rest of your post is idiotic at best.

Posted by: Bryan at March 2, 2007 3:37 PMBryan:
Hunh? What on earth are you talking about?
Kate opened this up to reader tips. Harper made the most outrageous of lies about the personal integrity of two MPs and I noted it. I think the hypersensitivity in your and other's reaction is quite indicative of how vulnerable you realize he is.
And there is no question about his untruthfulness. He said that the former minister of immigration appointed her husband to the immigration review panel. That is a very strong ethics charge. Problem is, her husband was appointed by Mulroney. In the other lie, the other MP wasn't even in Parliament.
So your guy isn't perfect. So he turns out to be as corrupt and partisan and dirty pool as every single other politician who has ever been in government and held power. So the guy has shown that he is as desperate to hold onto that power as every other politician before him, Liberal included.
Jean Harper. Like Voice said: meet the new boss. same as the old boss.

At least those who voted for Brian had the guts and brains to say no more, and formed a new party, and it took a few years to get rid of all the old boys. Will the liberals do the same. The only reason Chretain won majorities was because of a divided Right. Now it is the left that is divided, with no guts to get out and start over. Maybe some who refused to run for the leadership will try and bring some sanity back to politics of the liberals and form a new party. Had a nice chat at lunch today with a couple who have moved here from Montreal. Very interesting, to hear them say the reason English is not taught in schools is because the PQ govt knows Que has nothing to offer and people are leaving in droves. (this couple is french) If they can't speak or understand english they will have to stay. Yikes, suzuki is having a news conference, glad the tv was on mute. Just changed the channel. I will leave it to Ted to report on the hypocrite. What kind of footprint did he leave going from BC to Ottawa, after his cross country fiasco where he took money from kids. Volpe was chastised for that, why not David.
I can never understand why people like Ted would support the Liberals in any level of government.
We all judge our friends, family and business contacts by what they do, not what they say. Yet Liberals do nothing and promise everything yet you blindly follow along and stupidly vote again and again for these liars. That is the definition of insanity, repeating the same thing over and over expecting a different result! People who support the Conservatives expect results and kept promises and punish the leader who fails to deliver. I have no idea what Liberal supporters expect.
It is a proven fact that Chretien and Martin lied and cheated Canadians and spent their tax money as if it belonged to them. Liberals have no policies or programs. Chretiens top advisor admitted they had no intention of meeting Kyoto targets with that arrogant clod doubling Canada's target percentage. In 13 years the Cretin did nothing for Canada, decimated the military, adscam, shawinagate, billions in broken contracts and on and on. And you support this type of government, what a maroon.
Yet you continue to attack Harper, who methodically implemented his goals, some that the Liberals promised but as usual never acted on, like the military equipment purchases.
When you Liberals can point out something you have actually completed get back to me, as if that would ever happen.

I think what you meant to say is that Harper accused the Liberals of making patronage appointments in the Immigration portfolio. Reality is that those people were appointed, they were Liberal supporters/patrons but he got the timeline wrong. I note that your source is the most biased Liberal rag out there, the Toronto Star - good God (or diety of your choice, I prefer Zeus myself) man, what were you thinking? You consider that rag a reliable source, I will wait for Hansard to get the correct quote without the Liberal interpretation....
BTW Ted/Voice, Kate is not here at the moment, looks like you drop over to just to spread dirt and then run. If you had been reading you would have noted that there are Guest admins running the blog for her, but good slam anyway, to bad the back splatter was so intense...
Posted by: commsguy at March 2, 2007 4:54 PMwell said David, I would like also to point out that Liberals when at there convention seemed more interested in the party that was later instead of the policy debate that Liberals talk a lot about, I heard it more than once how poorly attended the policy side was attended. I know Conservatives like to party as well, at least we have policy! I am from Western Canada Stephane Dion has promised to reinstate the Wheat Board, I used to farm with my dad, I never grew a board crop and you want to know why, because I couldn't get enough money out of my crop to pay the bills I always would have had to wait a year after I sold the crop to get paid out, why would I want that? Stephane i don't need more liberal interference in my life.

Posted by: Reid at March 2, 2007 4:57 PMSo Ted says Harper has smeared and lied about a Liberal MP, preaching indignation.
So Ted, you then go on to explain Harper is far worse than Chretien because of this.
So please, show me anything where Harper has even come close to Chretien's attack on the former head of the BDC. You know, his reputation, job, pension, family. If you need some refreshing, he's the one who blew the whistle on Chretien's involvment in Shawinigate.
Hey, wait, come to think about it, Chretien lied in the HoC for 2 years saying he never had any role in the role. And the loan was defaulted on in the end. Please Ted, explain that lie as well.
Posted by: paulsstuff at March 2, 2007 4:59 PMTed -- there is a difference between a "a deliberately false accusation" and making an honest mistake. I would admit that Harper picked up on this one by way of embarassing Liberals, but he would not have done so had he not believed the information to be factual . . . knowing he would be caught out. First of all, he is too smart for that and secondly this type of information typically comes via researchers. I doubt that the Prime Minister personally spends time digging up this type of thing. So -- you can dislike the Prime Minister for trying to stick it to the Liberals at every turn, but putting forward misinformation is not always lying and the "lie" charge in this case is just not credible. What it is is another example of Liberals being desperate to catch Conservatives doing something underhanded -- just as they made a big fuss last week about the Pearson medal thing. Last week the Liberals were caught out -- this week the Conservatives are because the information is incorrect, but in both instances, the incidents are too trivial to deserve much attention.

Posted by: Liz J at March 2, 2007 5:01 PMIs anyone prepared to call one of Newmans guests this pm a liar. He stated the lowest tax rate is up to 15.50%, from Martins 15%. He and everyone who buys this should look at their Sch 1 this year and find that it is 15.25%. Not much, but he told a lie. Again, this is offset by the amt for non refundable tax credits, (you know, that amount you get to write off what you owe) to 15.25%.
Posted by: mary T. at March 2, 2007 5:24 PMTo throw a more entertaining note into this thread, I've taken a big step to making our office green!!! I've unofficially implemented carbon trading in our company lunch-room, based on the model David Suzuki is using for his trip across Canada.
After lunch each day, when I get to the office kitchen, my dish is usually pretty grungy because of the way I bake food (carbon) onto it. So what I now do is, I take some other dish and wash it instead.
My carbon is still there of course, and it may be black, but I'm green!! I've fulfilled my responsibility by washing an easier dish, so I can feel good about myself. Sooner or later I suppose someone might decide that my dirty dishes are a problem but, hey, that's not my problem any more. Pretty smart, eh?
great idea Rick, you may be onto something there

On the lie scale, Chretien told the biggest in history of our politics. He said when asked if he would get rid of the GST, he said "IT'S GONE" and it's in the archives from a TV clip.
The Liar won the next election because of that LIE.
Sheila Copps didn't fare so well, she had to resign her seat and run again for assuring people the GST would be scrapped.

"Jason,
Our poll today is a random sample from our on-line panel that is weighted to the census population of Canadian adults. It is truly a representative sample of Canadians and is tested among other demographics plus vote. Further, we run a coincidental telephone sample of 1000 in the three days prior to the on-line weekly Omnibus and we can constantly track and weight the numbers so they accurate within the margin of error. In fact, of the $130 Million of market research done this year at Ipsos (and the quarter billion in North America), 60% of the business is done on-line with most of the largest corporations and institutions in North America relying on their outcome.
In addition to defaming our research approach, methodology and expertise which is considerable, you overlook one thing that is really at the root of your potential slander: the questions and results we produced were pretty much the same as the Strategic Counsel poll yesterday and some others that I am aware of in the wings. So, regardless of your ill advised rant on methodology, the bottom line is pretty much the same wherever you look.

6 pm Nightly Lemons Report: Duff & Newman
Excerpt:
Delacourt drops the King Lear "Sound and Fury" line. Gives Tories a pass on attack ads. Describes Libs as hostages and CPCs as confident and happy. Says Libs playing into CPCs poor leadership thing. (This tends to confirm that the ads worked if Delacourt changed her mind.) Weston admits Liberals really in trouble and that Sunday's poll will reveal that Quebecers are steadily gaining acceptance and receptiveness to Harper.
Is it just me, but does Nelly Furtado look like she's wearing a bad wig.
Craig Oliver says Dion not selling - says not being seen as a natural leader (more proof of power of attack ads).
Says Dion going left and might lose the centre.
Duff quoted Kookie to conclude that "if Canada's biggest environmentalist is believing that Harper's finally got it. . .".
It's in the air and on the air. Tension, unstated excitement. Expect an election call before the daffodils sprout.

Suzuki, through his communications director, compares himself and his diesel bus journey to Terry Fox and his run. And then to Gandhi. Pathetic.
A quote from his communications director's blog:
"It was fitting that David ended the cross-Canada portion of the tour at the Terry Fox monument at Mile Zero in Victoria.
Two great Canadians, both beacons of hope and inspiration to average folks. Here, at the far end of the Trans-Canada Highway, after so many thousands of kilometers, he still looks pumped and ready to give his speech one more time. And with the patience of Gandhi, he moves through a crowd of kids, well-wishers, media and others, signing autographs, books, and accepting letters, brochures and flier for a multitude of causes."

Went on Lib website to figure out where Dion tour going. Can anyone verify, as I suspect, that he will be touring large urban centres only. If so, then he is shoring up his vote, not reaching out to all Canadians. Anyway, when he speaks in public, Libs drop in polls. Even the MSM has turned on him, despite their coronation attempts after the Lib Convention. Remember Jane Taber and her "backpack full of ideas" comment?
Remember folks, as Ted says, when Harper makes a misstatement he is a liar, which is evidence that he is a liar (fallacy known as begging the question). When Chretien, Martin lie about GST, NAFTA, and their past attack ads, especially first Martin election, where you would be shot by an unregistered handgun, while trying to get an abortion in a back alley, then wisked off to an aircraft carrier, well that's OK.
What else have they got? Their policies are decidedly left wing, and therefore appeal to narrow range of Canadians (oh, sorry, Harper has narrow ideology), and fight it out for the left vote with NDP and Bloc.
Can't wait to see their platform, if Dion tour any indication. They're freaking out right now, and drop of writ it at least a month away, at the very earliest.
Why are Libs acting so crazy? Because Harper has proved he can sling the mud just as good as them, they have no money to fight back, and their leader is a dud. They have also, due to poor Dion leadership and optics, lost their MSM allies. Dion is now under the microscope and it isn't going well; hence, the need to change focus to Harpers cultlike, mean-spiritied leadership.
The msm has been preaching that the environment has replaced health care as the #1 issue facing cdns. Not according to the suzuki poll. They are also repeating that cdns do not want another election. I think that could be just as misleading and kyoto. Is it the msm who don't want an election, as they fear a Harper majority, and their jobs. I read one report that cbc might be losing a huge part of their funding in the coming budget. Suzuki just asked cdns, If you were PM what would you do. Lets ask, if you could fire some in the msm, who would it be.

Posted by: mary T. at March 3, 2007 1:53 PMThis is the latest news on Caledonia. By way of the CTV which the Moon Bunnies cannot gainsay as conservative.
I think its projects the future of this Country. Tribialized groups each with their own rights in conflict with neighbors, . The multicultural Utopia shown for the divisive collection of lawless collectivities at odds for more money & cluster power.
This is what happens when you have replaced a Justice system based on equality, for a legal system designed not for parity but privilege. Based on who gets the most or least rights, protection, or liberty , because of gender, sexual choice, class, or race .All based on group liberties not individual ones. Some based on psudo-historical claims, others on modern notions of culpability. Think White males.
As Christians are finding out, it also makes it easier for any polity to single out a group to persecute. Think Smokers.
Until all Men & Women are equal under the law without special provision, this is the future writ vast for this Nation. A collection of groups in contention for power, for land, liberty, attention or even undermining this polity.
Just my opinion.
McGuinty cuts talks with Caledonia protesters
CTV.ca News Staff
Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty called off negotiations with Aboriginal protesters in the Caledonia land dispute on Monday after violence erupted last Friday.
"A condition of our being at the table was that public safety would not be compromised," McGuinty told the legislature. "In fact, last Friday it was, without a doubt, compromised."
"We are no longer prepared to continue negotiations."
McGuinty was referring to multiple incidents Friday including the swarming of an elderly couple's car and an alleged assault on two cameramen from a Hamilton television station.
Additionally, a U.S. Border Patrol vehicle was allegedly stolen and driven toward an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer. The officer was injured as he was pulled out of the speeding vehicle's path.
McGuinty would not confirm his next move if talks did not resume saying "We'll see."
Police have issued warrants for six people with charges ranging from attempted murder of a police officer, forcible confinement and robbery.
A seventh warrant is pending on a charge of assault causing bodily harm.
The natives are trying to prevent construction of a housing development on land they claim as their own, and have vowed to stay on the site until there is a resolution to the dispute.
But members of the Six Nations Confederacy say they are not planning to assist police in capturing the alleged suspects.
"I don't think so," Confederacy Chief Allen McNaughton told the Hamilton Spectator when asked if they'd help police.
McNaughton said police could spark more violence if they attempt to apprehend the suspects.
But McGuinty said talks would not resume until police received cooperation in the arrests and if the barricades were removed.
"We have just about exhausted our goodwill and our patience," McGuinty said.
The next scheduled meeting between officials on both sides was scheduled for Thursday but that is now on hold.
Meanwhile, the Opposition Conservatives continued their criticism of how the Liberals were handling the situation.
"There has to be a deadline by which some action will be taken to make sure those barricades come down," Conservative Leader John Tory said Monday.
"We just cannot have a flouting of the rule of law going on continuously. It just isn't acceptable."
The following individuals are being sought by police:
Albert Douglas, 30, of Ohsweken, Ont., faces charges of attempted murder, theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, assaulting a police officer, forcible confinement, robbery and two counts of breaching his bail;
Trevor Miller, 30, of no fixed address, faces charges of robbery and theft of motor vehicle;
Audra Ann Taillefer, 45, of Victoria, B.C., faces charges of robbery and two counts of intimidation;
Skylar Williams, 22, of Ohsweken, faces one charge of robbery;
Arnold Douglas, 61, of Ohsweken, faces two counts of intimidation;
Ken Hill, 47, of Ohsweken, faces two counts of assault; and
An arrest warrant is pending for one male suspect on a charge of assault causing bodily harm.
With files from The Canadian Press
"It was fitting that David ended the cross-Canada portion of the tour at the Terry Fox monument at Mile Zero in Victoria."
Terry Fox finished/stopped his run about "18 miles from Thunder Bay, at the head of Lake Superior", Ontario not at "the Terry Fox monument at Mile Zero in Victoria", British Columbia, as the Suzukiites would wish to imply.
How did Suzuki propel his "cross-Canada portion of the tour"? Not on his two stubby legs; on a diesel-fuelled bus, spewing toxic emissions into the atmosphere.
Suzuki, et al, dishonour Terry Fox's memory by their dishonesty.
Scurrilous scumbag is Suzuki.

Posted by: OMMAG at March 3, 2007 4:35 PMI must say Mary T. that I am finding the pathetic msm exceedingly funny. People like Giggles, Craigo, New(tiny)man, Travest, etc. are getting desperate. They hate the Conservatives as only a bought and paid for 'trougher' could - they would give their eye teeth to bring life back that sorry corpse of the Liberano/Dipper outfits and the glorious control of the peons and the $$ and the group think- the daze of beer and popcorn - before the 'troubling' internet news media and the huge readership of blogs like sda, shotgun and angry in the great white north. Jack's newswatch has lots of visitors and very worthy commentary too. Reading the 'News ' is once again interesting. PMSH is the ground down Canadian taxpayer's Prime Minister and the elitist msm are going down with their corrupt masters.
As long as the msm called the 'tune' and wrote the songs the well paid so called journalists spewed whatever dirt and lies and slander they could spin. They now wear yellow (bellied) egg on their surly faces and I laugh at them. I actually dislike(d) the msm more than the criminals in the Liberano Party.
The legions of shrills should not be trusted at any time, IMO. They are only speaking (for) the Conservatives and PMSH at the moment, to try to salvage their jobs if all their evil ways fail to stop a Conservative majority in the next election. It is ALWAYS all about 'them".
Having come back from a week in the great white north I must admit that a lot of the ignorance of the Ontario voter can be directly attributed to the msm agenda. I saw more of Dion in one week on Duffy, and other so called news coverage than I ever want to see again. The fact that I cannot recall one thing he was trying to say is immaterial. He and the other opposition parties have a friend in the media. Same with Dr Fruit fly, his word seems like gospel even if he melts down on live radio. Not everyone, especially those in their "golden years" may have a computer for email and pictures of grandchildren but they don't realize there are lots of sources of information available on the information highway. I got more than one look of disbelief when I spoke counter to CBC mantra. Scary.
