But...aren't the oceans already dead (that was predicted a few decades ago to have happened by now)? Hasn't global food production already been destroyed (that was predicted several years ago to have happened by now)? Isn't all of Canada's lakes and rivers dead now because of acid rain? Don't we all have skin cancer from the hole in the ozone?

I don't know what he's worried about...the world has already ended several times over by now according to the doomsayers. This life we're leading is all just a fantasy-world created by the Matrix, right? Oh, Neo...where are you? /sarc

The vote to force the Government to follow Kyoto, Mo Strong's and China's path to riches, to the letter is surely the last straw. There are so many arguments against it, let's have at them.
First off, targets are impossible to meet without killing our economy.
How the hell can they feign concern for the Auto Industry and at the same time vote for Kyoto?

Posted by: cal2 at February 15, 2007 8:58 AM

Yes, global warming is a real thing. However; anthropogenic global warming is a concoction. You have to differentiate between the two. In the last 500 million years the planet has gone through several warming and cooling cycles that we are purportedly going through now. Were humans around to be blamed for any of these? Of course not! The recent escalation in eviro-rhetoric arises from the fact that the latest research is showing the solar radiation is the number one driver of global temperature with CO2 being number 4 or 5 on the list. Also, the most recent satellite data is showing an actual drop of atmopheric temperature since 2000. Many of these people realize the the AGW house of cards is about to collapse, and are trying at a fever pitch to get their political agendas fulfilled before this happens. I can say this as a student of science (I am working on my second degree): Anyone who says that the science of AGW has been settled is either misinformed or is purposefully lying to advance their political agenda.

Have a look for yourself:

Posted by: Eric at February 15, 2007 9:02 AM

I agree with your comments. This is not to say that our collective emmissions aren't adding a very small amount of gases to the natural warming/cooling cycles which have existed since the earth began. There are votes to be mined and money to be made so maybe the "sky-is-falling" crowd isn't as ignorant as they you might undoubtedly agree, there are scientific theories being touted as scientific fact, to suit individual agendas.

And on a more pragmatic note, as opposed to ripping a strip off the young man in the video, one might best find the adult(s) who put him up to it and/or fed him the bad information. We were all once as young and misinformed.

"Thinking" people (liberals, in other words) always wonder where the Palies get kids in the West Bank willing to strap on some C4 and head out for a Jewish nightclub. I mean, what could be worth it to do something like that, right?

The kid in the video is on the flightpath to become a true Soldier of Righteousness. Crank him up a little more, feed him just a bit more hate for a couple years and then give him a target.

On the bright side Algore is in their camp, which pretty much guarantees their descent into unfashionability. This is all going to be comedy sketch fodder. I predict that poor kid gets mocked on national TV in the very near future.

In the meantime, I'll take a page from Kate's book and go for a drive in my huge gas guzzler for absolutely no reason. ~:D Maybe do a few power slides and donuts in a parking lot and dedicate them to the Fruit Fly Guy.

Well, it's the best visual metaphor I've seen so far for the environmental left - a pasty little thug-wannabe making vague threats and trying to guilt out adults just because we kept preventing him from painting with his feces when he was a toddler, from playing with knives when he was a pre-schooler, and from playing with kerosene when he was in primary school. Now they've appointed themselves guardians of public safety, and they're going to make us suffer, if it's the last thing that they do.

Why is it that losers always work to take revenge on those that rejected them. algore, belinda, scott, garth, to name a few. Can you imagine the rage of all those lib women who are ordered to run and are defeated big time.
I think our best defense against these idiots is a strong offense and using the right words to get the message out. Like, dion is going to ORDER x number of women to run in x ridings. Isn't that a sign of a dictator and control freak.
Global warming has hit with a bang. Yesterday it was 20 below F. Today it is 28 above F. That is a shift of 40 degrees in 24 hours. We are in trouble.
All politics are local so they say. Therefore, in the coming campaign go to all candidate meetings, and your local liberal headquarters and ask,how does Joe Blow plan to support the closing or reducing the work force (pick your topic) in the
office blg, plant, mall, whatever, in his riding. Do you think it will affect your family when it is against the law to have your lights on more than 5 hours a day. We have to make kids like in the video and their believers realize it will affect them big time.

I feel that if we end up having a federal election over this issue we should have a two nationally televised debates over AGW/Kyoto - one from a science standpoint and one from an economic standpoint. Actual experts in the field should do the debating, not the politicians. There are many credible, respected scientists that would be happy to debate this issue with David Suzuki. The only problem is that he would not accept the challenge because he knows in the back of his mind that the facts are against him!

The enemy indeed? You've got to be kidding me buddy, what about the neo-conservatives that have already taken over North America, destroyed Iraq and killed thousands upon thousands of people. I can't believe you're actually suggesting kids are now the enemy. And I find it funny you actually think charity organizations are programming the youth of this nation somehow to do something bad to you. Well run Irwin! Posted by: Canadian Infidel at February 15, 2007 11:06 AM

Posted by: Linda at February 15, 2007 11:06 AM

Yeah, Suzuki on the radio just refused to even listen to an argument or even have a discussion. It's all decided as far as he is concerned.

And he quoted the discredited Stern report as fact.

Told people to ignore Buzz Hargrove (I liked that one).

He said that 2500 scientists signed the IPCC report in February.

This man knows he is deliberately lying.

Posted by: Wimpy Canadian at February 15, 2007 11:11 AM

Posted by: Linda at February 15, 2007 11:18 AM

Greenpeace must have bogarted this kid’s Ritalin before filming the bit.

Seriously, this message was chilling. So chilling, in fact, that I bumped my house temperature another 5F just to warm up. And then I turned my TV & stereo on, and every kitchen appliance, and sat back and contemplated this overwrought teenie’s message... sat back, chillin’.

Hitler Youth, indeed. But they need a green version of the “Horst Wessel” song, playing to the beat of snare drums in the background.

Perhaps sung by Barney the dinosaur.

Great AM640 link to Suzuki, BTW. “The science is IN”. ROFL !! Seriously, somebody needs to challenge this maniac’s credentials: how does a fruit fly specialist suddenly claim expertise on AGW? And why do Canadians take everything he says as gospel?

I heard Suzuki on AM1010 this morning, but Bill Carroll didn’t have the stones to challenge him on anything. Suzuki’s upset at all the truck traffic between Windsor & Toronto, and feels they should be forced off the road and shipped by rail.

Four words for Mr. PhD-in-everything-in-the-world: “JUST. IN. TIME. MANUFACTURING”. Rail travel would certainly aid Ontario’s flagging auto sector, eh?. Not that public teat-fed DS cares a whit about jobs or the economy (ref. the AM640 clip). He’ll still be paid, even when everyone else is out of work.

Pity nobody called in to ask about his Foundation benefactor, Maurice Strong, and his links to rampant Chinese business development, and 500+ coal-fired generating stations. And it would have been great if Oakley had asked Suzuki about the bogus “hockey stick curve”. Alas.

I grumbled over dinner the other night that Suzuki should be locked up someplace, and then had to tell my 11-yr old son what a fraud, imposter & shill for socialism this guy really is when he questioned why. My son looked puzzled, as they’ve already started to talk about how “valuable” Suzuki is to Canada, in his school.

Makes you wonder about the general stupidity of Canadians, when this blowhard is voted in the “Top 10 Canadians” list, eh?

Josh – did YOU swipe this kid’s Ritalin? If so, perhaps you might try it out yourself. Better yet, do some online reading apart from the Toronto Star, Rabble and Suzuki’s website, and then come back to discuss. If you don’t see Canada’s following Kyoto to the letter equaling crippling carbon taxes, gas pricing, and economic shambles, I wish you’d share your rationale.

Or your bag of dried mushrooms.

Posted by: Sarcasticman at February 15, 2007 11:32 AM

The Seahawk is giving up its search for whalers and returning to port-not enough fuel. The papers are full of distorted info today. Harper has had a bill to reform the senate, held up, for months. Today the headlines-Dion supports term limits. Shouldn't that read, Harpers bill for term limits for the senate, supported by the liberals.
Still no comments in g&m even tho it says 570. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Ocean Ranger memorial today, a friend of mine lost her son on that disaster. All Dion has done today when asked about the bill is to say, it will be the law. They will have to follow it. He has no plan other than to say Harper killed our plan. What was it.
How long does it take to design a car, from idea to coming off the assembly line. How long does it take to get a trade agreement. I think both take longer than 12 months. By blaming Harper for not doing this, they are admitting they think he is a genius and should have done it. Buzz is the reason for the job layoffs, and his greedy union members who liked making the easy money for shoddy work. Guess they will now follow Dions message. Don't make the easy money, it is bad for the economy.
NDP enviro critic just said the new bill will not be fast tracked in the senate, as not to show favoritism. He basically is saying nothing was accomplished except to recommit to kyoto. Even Susuki said it was nothing. Sure sounds like a lot of people are backtracking on what they did.
Six months to a year before it comes to the senate, and only working 3 days a wk will delay it further. Then this guy said it will be another six months after passage for the government to have to act. I thought it said 60 days. He also suggested the liberals will sue the government if it is not acted on. Great vote getter, we will sue you the taxpayer if you don't follow us. In the 18 months before action has to be taken, dion will be gone and hopefully the liberal party, with many of them in jail.

So lets just do anything we can to reduce GHG even though there is no proof it will make a difference at all; when Canada has a 15% unemployment rate, housing prices disapear, retired people lose 50% of their savings, and the average working Canadian fears losing their job I'm certain we will feel super about our contribution.

In 10 years people will wonder how so many people were brainwashed to believe in something so foolish while they move onto the newest panick of the day.

WL MacKenzie said:"We have a generation at risk of being tools of political manipulators and the poor media conditioned patsies haven't a clue they are a generation of Manchurian candidates."

I truly agree. There are a lot of pawns in this story that are spewing out exactly what the ones at the top want. The question is: who is at the top? and what exactly are they meaning to accomplish?

I think G&M had a meltdown on the GW topic. I was viewing the 570 mssgs and went to do a reload when everything disappeared. It may be that their software was not able to accomodate that number of mssgs. -- or maybe something else. From what I did view, the majority of comments were favouring the CPC position on this. Even people who are worried about global warming recognize the Kyoto is not the solution. I am sometimes intrigued by those who state "but Kyoto is all we have" -- would anyone take a medication that they knew would not work, had many negative side-effects -- just because "it was the only thing available?"

MaryT, don't know where you picked up the thread of the Liberals suing the government but I've been a proponent of the Canadian Taxpayer suing the Liberal party and all Liberal MP's of the past twenty years since they used laundered illegal funds to pay election exspenses that allowed them to retain governing power in this country. Everything they've done in the last 13 years, including the gun registry, signing the Kyoto accord etc. has been accomplished because they have been in power illegally. Anybody want to launch a class action suit before these clowns totally destroy the country and have us all working for Mo and the rest of the Mandarins in China?

I just think it would be fun to ask all liberal candidates if they agree with this possible action, and would they promise never to do so when they are defeated.

It is very obvious we have spent too much energy on worrying about what is going on in those muslim schools and training camps in the mideast.
That must have been planned by these kyoto terrorists to take our eye off the ball. No wonder youngsters strap on bombs and walk into malls. How long before this guy or someone like him walks in and starts shooting. They have done it in our schools, can malls be far behind. For greenpeace to promote this hate, it shows how dangerous it is. This video might be the straw that breaks the camels back re how dangerous the eco terrorist are.

I have lived long enough to have seen the tremendous degradation of spaceship earth. My 2 million dollar property on a mountain overlooking the straitss from the Olympics to mount Baker is suffused by a dirty brown ugly exhaust cloud that gets thicker every year, It is the truth, deny it fools and say it doesen't matter. 40 years ago I could turn over any rock on our beaches and 6 or more crabs would scuttle away. Now not one. Pollution and raw sewage have killed them all. I saw all the jackasses in Newfoundland say cod would never run out, the biggest biomass in the world, how could it. It has now been gone for 15 years. I used to take any visitor to BC salmon fishing, Hah, not any left to catch. But the fishermen say if we would only let them harvest "their way" there would lbe lots of fish. One thing I have learned is never ask a logger how to conserve the forrest, he will cut the last tree, and the fisherman the last fish, and the buffalo hunter the last buffalo, and the passenger pigeon market gunner killed the last bird which outnumbered all other birds in america combined, now not one left. And the latest Canada North magazine say the largest cariboo herd in Canada is down 2/3 in the last 10 years.

Several random thoughts passed through my head watching this:

This example of intergenerational fear mongering and not so veiled threats to the previous generation as the source of all problems is what the Hitler Youth and the Communist youth specialized in. Thank goodness most liberal-left hate family and children and thus don't procreate so as to produce more little goosestepppers. I've got five kids and I'm raising them right...wing.

If my kids would have ever had that smug attititude and demeaning tone I would give them a smack. If one of my kids became a nature-nazi I would cut down a tree and smack them with a wooden spoon.

This video is proof that global warming is not about care of the environment but about social control and engineering.

This is truly frightening that such an organization and movement would stoop to such a hideous low in the 21st century.

Words from the prophet Isaiah:
"Do not call conspiracy everything that these people call conspiracy do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it."

Perhaps you should sell your property worth $2 million and move to somewhere where there's less people. You could even pocket about $1.8 and still have enough to buy a decent car, if you pick a place like MB or SK.

Because you know, where there's people, there's pollution. Even going back to the dark ages, where people mass, pollution occurs.

And the cod? Well, thank your envirnmentally sound friends over in Europe for that. The trees? You doofus -- there's a greater percentage of Canada with forest cover now than there was 100 years ago.

Neil Thompson,

What country do you live in?

At my "million dollar" lake house in the Kawartha's, I've seen more wildlife than at any time. Prior to buying a cottage myself, my folks have had one on the same lake system since I was born. I regularly see black bear, moose, deer, beaver, every type of animal and bird. In fact wild turkeys are back. The fish have never been healthier or more plentiful either. Not to mention crayfish under every rock. The water is tested every year and its cleaner now than it was 20 years ago.

Now back to the topic. Climate change, GHG and that nasty little piece of socialist engineering called Kyoto.

Why not bet your "$2 million property" on the kid and his ignorant message. Idiot.

I went to a local Ecology Action Group presentation (where they had a free showing of An Inconvenient Truth) at the launch of a municipal anti-idling campaign. One of the presenters was a marketer who explained to us - as if we were promoters ourselves of these ideas- how important it was to "use our kids" to "market" this information because people "listen when it's our kids". He was quite open about this as a marketing ploy and I was quite taken aback at how blatant he was about "using" children for their impact value. He then showed the "tick, tick, tick" ad as an example.

Neil - I have a family of fuzzy wittle wabbits living in the bushes I grew on my postage stamp city lot in Calgary. Little birdies feed at the feeder hung from those bushes. The trees I planted on this bald-ass property 9 years ago shade the smaller stuff. I have coyotes feeding on the wittle wabbits from time to time and they keep the cat population down, too. I have put more wildlife refuge on this bit 'o Alberta, with more variety than was originally here. So what, eh? I look out over a park to my neighbours' postage stamp properties and they all emulated mine. We do our "little bit" and it was all paid for by "izzy money" in the Patch, what's your point Mr $2,000,000.00 house snob? just came up to see if the piece had caused any fun and it did. Thanks a lot. My 2 mil property is like every other one in this village where all the immigrants from all over the world are moving here and polluting the hell out of everything. We are on water rationing in the summer as not enough water mains, Victoria, our capital just pipes the toilets waste out a spout into the ocean, and complain when americans don't like what washes up over their beaches. I see more bears on my property than anybody else reading SDA and I have to say they are getting to be a sad undernourished skinny lot and some can't even hibernate, not enough fat on them. I used to be lulled asleep by the frogs singing but they all disappeared years ago. No songbirds are left here, Coyotes are few but have had a cougar. THE KID IS NOT JUST TALKING ABOUT TEMPERATURES GOING UP, HE IS TALKING ABOUT OUR SPACESHIPS GROWING DEGRADATION. People polute and more people polute more. Yet sheeplike Canadians advertise and set up immigration offices in the world to entice people illiterate in their own land to come to canada to polute and multiply and to help build our hi tech businesses. Rots of ruck! I see ads in Lanerealty website for quarter sections with a nice house for $150,000 Hope the poor seller isn't comeing to the coast where it wouldn't even buy a studio apt [no bedroom]. In my day every male knew he was going to own a house. Not so today. And to drive my point home , nobody selling their manitoba ranch will be able to buy my place. But sheeplike Canadians say they want more people, why? Anyone who says life is better for the average citizen than 25 years ago is a nut. If all the yocals would start to think about population which most scientists say has to be reduced, they could get off the kids back. Every single problem we complain about is caused by too many people, not enough hospitals, universities, roads, parks, doctors etc etc. I still put my money on the kid

Posted by: neil thompson at February 15, 2007 4:04 PM

Can somebody tell me why so many people seem to believe that pollution and CO2 emissions are synonymous? Every time I hear a discussion on a call-in show about Kyoto, somebody invariably brings up the topic of pollution in the belief that CO2 is directly harmful to humans in the same way as sulfur dioxide, benzene, carbon monoxide, radon etc. and just as invariably the host does not challenge them in their thinking. Just today after Suzuki's hissy fit, somebody called in blaming the rise of asthma in children with CO2 emissions. And now, here we have somebody pointing to chemical pollutants in the air and sea as the culprit in reducing his $2 million enjoyment of "spaceship earth" in the belief that transferring CO2 emissions through Kyoto will solve that problem.

I understand and believe that it behooves all of us to try to reduce our footprint on planet earth, but for the life of me, I cannot understand why we are not focusing our efforts on the more noxious substances we produce. A good start would be with the 200 billion liters of raw sewage we dump into our waterways every year.

I think greenpeace found their new force in the kid.

Posted by: cal2 at February 15, 2007 4:10 PM

yes , when did CO2 which is necessary to the largerst part of the biomass on earth become a pollutant. Dr. Fruit Fly better explain. Plants outweigh every thing that moves.the very configuration of plants- lots of surface area is because there is so little CO2

Posted by: cal2 at February 15, 2007 4:14 PM

Yeah, I must say that pollution and CO2 are somewhat separate issues. Clearly the latter is at higher atmospheric levels, mostly due to Man. But the connection between Man-made emissions and climate change is nebulous at best. Red Herring, I say! Toxic pollutants, though, are a different story, in terms of their pernicious effects.

Like Neil, I don't see much life in the urban/suburban trees and streams around here (Vancouver) anymore. I ain't a rabid enviro-freak, but I do think toxic waste dumping and over-harvesting of resources are bigger threats than CO2.

My main reason to cut down on energy consumption is to deprive evil Arabs from: a. exporting their death cult around the world, and b. living decadent playboy lifestyles in trendy European hotspots while doing it.

Posted by: SonsofMonkeysandSwine at February 15, 2007 4:38 PM

neil thompson - for starters, the Japanese and Russians with their dredging were the worst culprits in decimating the Grand Banks. In Maine, lobsters have been at historically high numbers. The reason, the locals fisherman regulate their industry with less input from the government. Contrast that situation to the Canadian model. So much for government being a better steward of the environment. Lumber companies replant, it's their livelihood.

I'm sorry that the world gravitated to your pristine estate and drove the critters off. It sounds like more of a real estate issue than an environmental one. If you miss the critters, you've certainly got the money to track them down and build a new home near them.

Posted by: penny at February 15, 2007 4:47 PM

Neil. Baby. After shelling out for your mountain greenery it doesn't sound like you have too much money left to put money on anything let alone that kid. But I digress. The thing is if you are expecting that little kid to actually get a job and pay the taxes necessary to keep you in the style you would like to preserve, well you are SOL. So you'd better be darned grateful that some immigrant will . Your rant justs goes to show one thing. The guy who lives on the beach is an environmentalist. The guy who wants to build there is a rotten developer. Or an immigrant.

Posted by: Kate at February 15, 2007 4:48 PM

Can somebody tell me why so many people seem to believe that pollution and CO2 emissions are synonymous?

Jan, the simple reason is because most people don't understand what greenhouse gases really are.

That's it. Full stop. End of explanation. And you have MILLIONS of them who think we should destroy our economy based on junk science, about which they equally haven't the foggiest.

Hopefully they start to get it before we've lost our economy and standard of living, in the not-too-distant future.

I can't say how many times I've objected to Y2Kyoto, only to have some self-righteous ignoramus huff, "Oh, so you don't give a d@mn about air pollution".

I do care about air pollution, very much. And water pollution, too.

And I care just as much that fraudulent hoaxters and fear-mongers like Suzuki are dragged like some vampire screaming and cursing into the light of true scientific debate, and AGW & the fraud Kyoto are exposed as what they really are:

"global warming is not about care of the environment but about social control and engineering"

One-hundred percent right, Biff. Great tag line for AGW.

If the obviously-complicit MSM do nothing to educate people on this basic scientific fact then what else is being hidden in this global scam?

Neil thompson is a great example of people who don't "get" the basics of AGW, as he STILL equates air/water pollution to AGW even after the responses to his first post.

I'm marvelling at the fact somebody so clueless can actually LIVE in a $2 million home. 'Fess up, neil: did you inherit the place, or are you just lucky with the ponies?

Did we just empower our youth with the mandate to take the law in their own hands as long as its in the name of global warming?

Ezra Levant wrote in his Cal. Sun column a few weeks back about someone affixing a bumper sticker to his SUV admonishing the fact that it wasn't green enough and hence was an immoral vehicle to drive.
So the kid in the Utube video declares war on the previous generations as a right for having been brought up in an affluent society.
So sad he wasn't brought up in the ravages of Africa or some similar place. He might then understand that his soft life here is/has allowed him the luxury of an obviously loaded opinion.

Oh I know the kid's a puppet for a cause
Non to scrupulous, those folks at Greenpee!

The sad fact remains that most of these enviro fools will feel that the cause justifies the means.
So expect your half ton or your SUV to be vandalized by the new enviro-fascist youth,or your business,if some green organization takes it upon themselves to put you on their 'ethical' hit list.
Also don't expect the courts to uphold the law because as time progresses, law and order regresses in the western world.
I don't consider myself a Bible thumper though I will mention that It does fortell of the age of lawlessness that is creeping into all of our lives.

Posted by: Simon at February 15, 2007 4:59 PM

One way to "get of the kid's back" (4.04 p.m) could be to give the kid your $2.000,000 property. Creating a land conservancy covenant for the property would allow an avid protector of the environment to put his money where his mouth is.

Posted by: Kate at February 15, 2007 5:07 PM

The kid advances a typical liberal "argument" -- essentially "I am becoming increasingly angry/hysterical therefore I am correct and therefore you must do what I demand." It's purely emotional reasoning not backed by an ounce of fact or logic. As such it reflects in micro the fallacies of the Kyoto supporters in macro -- long on hysterics and short on evidence. Yesterday's piece by the Dutch meteorologist, particularly the discussion section, pointed up the absurdity of anyone claiming to be able to model the earth's climate, let alone anyone claiming to be able to model it 100 yrs into the future. That was enlightening, and well worth reading.

Posted by: DrD at February 15, 2007 5:22 PM

I'm not sure why the general trend in this blog, headed by Kate, is to insist that global warming is not caused by humans.

Posted by: Jan at February 15, 2007 5:36 PM

Ken, I think that the trend is more like this:

It snowed, so there's no such thing as global warming. And if there were such a thing, nobody has proven it's caused by humans and if someone has nobody has shown that it's necessarily bad and if they have the government can't fix the weather and even if they could what about China and India.

Or is that just my take on it?

Posted by: Crabgrass at February 15, 2007 5:38 PM

ken melrose -

The "trend" is evident here, because the "science" isn't evident, anywhere.

Yes, there ARE computer models generating falsified data, that predict forthcoming rampant horrors (but prove nothing).

There's even a "consensus" of scientists (some of whom even have climate study credentials, and aren't, say, over-hyped biologists). And that's just great, isn't it?

Unless of course, you actually subscribe to the "scientific method", requiring on facts, data, verifiable experimentation, and an open mind to debate opposing views and not stifle them with alarm or slander.

If you think idling your vehicle (or making light of it on a blog, for giggles) makes you a "dick", then by all means don't start your car. Better yet, why not get a hybrid, or dump it completely and ride your bike?

Didn't I see all this in an old movie with Charlton Heston called Omega Man or Soylent Green or something?

Really though, the kid needs to lose the lipstick and get jumped into a gang real quick, for his own protection. Otherwise as soon as he gets busted for torching some resort hotel's irrigation system, the old cons are going to turn him out.

Real scary part of all this is that if the Liberals do get their childcare factories this is what they'll be producing.

Yeesh... give this kid a job on coronation street.

Kid, did mom take away the Wii and promise to give it back if "you just read this script for Mommy in front of the camera"?

God bless the CBC and Rick Mercer's future camera man for the upcoming 9,203rd rant. Rember to flip it back and forth at 45 degree angles or Rick will show you the meaning of angry!

This kid seems to be progressing well through the indoctrination process, soon he'll be ready to join some eco-terrorist group where he can sacrifice his life, for Gaia.

Posted by: ryan at February 15, 2007 8:03 PM

Does this kid live in Vancouver, seems they have an arsonist there who doesn't like new development. Then there is another explosion of a home in Toronto. Any connection to the messeage, terror is ok if you don't like something. Watch for more of this. Remember the school vandalism.
Who is this kid. Somebody must know him and he must have a web page, just like the kid that killed that girl recently in Montreal. Sort look like each other. Hey, Bono, take note, African aid is not going to where it is supposed to go. Stop clapping your hands and shut up.

Solution to kids who are being programmed that the Earth is going to end unless dads like me quit warming up the 5.4L in the driveway: Take away the power guzzling iPods, Playstations, DVD players, computers, cell phones, golf clubs (fairway mowers cause too much co2), hockey equipment (have to run the brine plant for the ice and heat the rink lobby...too much energy use). Oh, and when they turn 16, forget borrowing or owning their own car...they oughta have a nice time taking their date to the Tas-T-Freeze...on the handlebars of the mountain bike.

Then we'll see the pouting really begin.

I just want to point out to those that are picking on this kid: he's an actor. It is highly unlikely that he wrote what he's saying.

Posted by: Ed Minchau at February 16, 2007 12:45 AM

If he is an actor then he belongs to the actra union and they are still on strike. A strike breaker, what will Buzz say, or Layton.
Who is he, we need to know.
Maybe we should set up a reward to the first person to out him. I would contribute a few dollars.

what is progress? is it to get closer to the edge of a cliff?or is it to develop a society where the standard of life goes up and the citizens feel safe, free, united, happy, community minded and pleased with their fellow citizens, the environment and its stewardship. This interesting , is it a thread, shows that we are all concerned, we are all unsure of the answer but we want the best for our country. When I hear that 30 years after the big oil sand development that the province has not planted one tree and the place looks like a moonscape, and when I hear that the people of alta are giving this away and allowing the despoilation of their province for a measly 1% when they could have got 10% after oil went over $20/bbl and could lhave got 20% when oil went over $30 and 25% when it went over $40, It grieves me when I see it all thrown away. But we Canadians do this. We were all proud of our great Int. Nickel of sudbury and its new nickle devel in Newfoundland. Now its all been taken over, the ownership control-and proportionate profit by foreighners. Our major hotels-Legacy- has been taken over, and we let it. And on and on and on. The only place people can live naturally are on the plains and in valleys. We hae paved over Fraser valley, one of the most productive growing areas on the planet, as with the Okanogan, the only fruit producer in Western Canada,we bulldoze the orchards for more housing. We say this is to create more jobs, we need them, but then we immigrate 400.000 people a year-I believe this is the govts intention- so producing a job is only good for foreigners. We cut down our deciduous forest to make kleenex, and then blame the Brazilians for cutting down the rain forest, the lungs of lthe world, in order to grow soybeans, so we can make ethanol to burn it{carbon] and so the price is high[based on its comparative oil value] at a time when there is one billion undernourished and starving people in the world, a world where the population has gone up from 3 to 6.5 billion in my lifetime and is projected to go to nearly 10 billion by 2050. Up three times in one century, one long lived persons lifetime. When do the citizens of the world call a halt? Only dreamers even dream that our spaceship can handle this number. Rats can't begin to breed like humans. You know that the flood of people coming into Canada are all going to live off govt oil revenue over the long term, The smallest countries in many cases offer the best standard of life and incomes, id norway, Switzerland, Sweden etc. Why is Canada trying to save the worlds overpopulation problem by importing more people? Only 5 countries in the world allow open immigration-all english speaking- england, US, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Is this because we are all sheeplike and have no guts and our most feared namecalling is "ungenerous" And Canada outdoes them all on a per capita basis. Good on Canada. Not. What gets me is Canadians have no guts to even argue , discuss or debate this point. When have you seen this question of our proper population debated?

Paragraphs, Mr. Thompson (or "mr. thompson", as you would probably write it.) Separate paragraphs.

Posted by: David Fleck at February 16, 2007 8:21 AM

Seriously, neil, that read like being cornered in an elevator by a speed-talker with garlic breath and poor punctuation skills. If you were doing layout at a newspaper, you'd have that page flung back on your desk for filling a page with an unreadable blot of grey text. Turn down the rant knob, dude.

Posted by: rick mcginnis at February 16, 2007 9:44 AM

Alberta hasn't planted any trees in the last 30 years? That is completely incorrect; I suspect that Neil Thompson has never been to Alberta. If he had done so, he would know that the entire northern half of Alberta is completely covered with trees.

Posted by: Ed Minchau at February 16, 2007 11:19 AM

neil thompson,

"Every single problem we complain about is caused by too many people, not enough hospitals, universities, roads, parks, doctors etc etc"

If every "problem" can be solved by building more hospitals and building more universities and roads and parks and training more doctors, guess what that entails?

Using more resources, you idiot.

I'm thinking that you probably don't "get" what I'm talking about here, and from the sounds of it, you eco-phreaks are setting up to have a little war over this topic.

Just so you know, you are going to lose.

Well that settles it.
I'm hanging up the hand auger for the season.
I'm gassing up the 2 stroke 3 hp Eskimo ice auger with extra rich mixture and depletin a few lakes doubletime this weekend.

Tight lines !

I don't even like how Hummers look as everyday vehicles as opposed to military use but, after seeing that video, I'm tempted to drive one just because I can.

I'm on alert with my daughter's school ... just waiting for the first eco-indoctrination.

I sincerely hope this little puke (or others like him) apply for work at my place. He/They wouldn't last a full day and they'd be running home crying to mommy and daddy that the "mean man made me mop the floor with those bad chemicals".

This society, if led by little buggers like this in 20 years, is headed to hell in a wind-powered handbasket.

I'd love to see a bunch of these little empty skulled, mutants get jiggy with me. The face of that kid, makes me want to b-otchslap every litle big mouthed punk I see. I'm definitely an enemy of that group of zombies. I think I'll go out and burn some tires this afternoon. :)
