Illegal grog shops, huh. You know, pretty soon they’ll start making poitín and be transported for it.Seriously though, the Tasmanians should be ashamed if they’re actually charging their mates for shed beer. That’s unAustralian.
For those that don't speak Aussie - eskie = cooler, pokie = slot machine
We've had sheds here in NA for decades ... just known as drug houses. If cops don't bust these, I doubt they will bust booze ones.
BTW: I went to my first booze shed (the money change hands kind) a couple of months ago ... I didn't know they even existed before that night. They even had a kitchen going.
you must love the law of un-intended consequences...
ban smoking - business opp for criminals running illegal booze cans
high cig taxes - business opp for criminals selling contraband native smokes(now $10.00 per carton in Ont)
marijuana laws - business opp for criminals, who can then expose the kids to crack, meth, heroin, etc.
time for a little libertarian common sense in this country
Posted by: kingstonlad at January 29, 2007 6:53 AMKingstonlad; I agree - it is almost too late in the 'tobacco banner' provinces though. Smokers are starting to not mind not going to public places - we go to cigarette friendly private parties. Underground meeting places are all the rage with the younger generation. This way us smokers can save lots of $$ so we can go on holidays in warm places that don't have smoking bans.
Just BTW; It was nice to go out for dinner last year in Calgary. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed eating out!
Not being a smoker, I love the idea of actually going out and having a cool one and being able to breathe.
Having said that, if you can't share a schooner with a mate at a BYO then it's time to get rid of those airy-fairies. Damn wankers.
