Update - Already in Youtube production - The Sequel ! "Stephane's Frantic Attempts To Throw A Bicycle Into Reverse"
Posted by Kate at January 25, 2007 12:30 AMHeh. Awesome.
Posted by: Dante at January 25, 2007 12:58 AMOver the past 25 years name a major scandal that the quebec franco ninnies haven't been major participants?
Posted by: Western Canadian at January 25, 2007 1:25 AMWhat more evidence does one need that the Libranos are so confident in their ability to control the message from the media in this country than this blatant, in-your-face display of arrogance?
Certainly looks as though the Libranos don't thing the blogosphere will kick them around the block again and again and again for all of this.
Lying, cheating, power-hungry, hypocritical thieves.
Up with Taliban Jack and the NDP. Much better for the environment.

MPs touring Afghanistan aren't allowed out of the base are expressing dissatisfaction.
"Liberal defence critic Denis Coderre said O'Connor should apologize for restricting the MPs to the base. "I don't understand," Coderre told reporters outside a Liberal caucus meeting in Quebec City. "Do you truly believe that we will be able to see what's going on in the field by remaining on the base?"
I wonder if they would be satisfied if someone with an IED loaded car took a run at the entourage and sent a few of them home in boxes.
Don't they get it? They are prime targets for the Taliban as they are the decision makers who sent the Cdn Forces there in the first place. Hello!?!

Posted by: Hans Rupprecht at January 25, 2007 3:21 AMWe still haven't heard which ridings received this illicit cash. Perhaps someone high profile is having the screws put to him by a disgruntled Mr. Cote? I'm just sayin'. Follow the money, boys and girls.
Posted by: Eskimo at January 25, 2007 7:00 AMEspecially when it comes to some slimy amphibian, follow the money, ALWAYS, follow the money.
Posted by: Western Canadian at January 25, 2007 7:37 AMPardon my ignorance, but was (at the time) anything illegal about giving money to their local candidates? Whether it be a cheque or crumpled up $100's, what exactly was wrong with this.
I guess I don't know the election laws enough, but I don't see a big deal.
Posted by: rhebner at January 25, 2007 8:18 AMAnd on the front page of the Globe?
Recent comments of a British MP, putting the conservative government on the 'hot seat'.
Hmmmm. On one hand we have the comments of a man who wants to lead our country, comments belittling the significance of the greatest political scandal of our times, committed by his own party, and which unfolded during the last election,
on the other,
comments of an MP of another government accross the ocean.
Yup, they bury Dion's statement, make the foreign guy headline news.
Rhebner, it depends on whether the money is coming from taxpayers pockets, and why the elected official who passing the money is not suspicious as to why it’s in untraceable cash. By the way, how did you know the bills were rumpled?
Posted by: glasnost at January 25, 2007 8:37 AMOK, I stand corrected, former elected official-current Liberal bag-man.
Posted by: glasnost at January 25, 2007 8:41 AMpeople..... a little too heavy on the Quebec bashing....not all Quebecers/francos are trough wallowing traitors....and not all scandal originates from Quebec....I live less than a 2 hour drive from the border, and spend 20% of my business time with francos....the majority I deal with are just as disgusted with the Librano garbage as anyone from out west...look at the results from the last election in eastern Ontario...most of the ridings east of Brockville/Smith Falls,Eganville have large franco populations...so, aim your arrows at the deserving targets, not general broad swipes...it could come back to haunt us next election
Posted by: kingstonlad at January 25, 2007 8:46 AMYou're correct kinstonlad, Quebecers are not generally corrupt, but the province has produced a long line of corrupt politicans.
Posted by: glasnost at January 25, 2007 8:53 AMagree...but let's resort to pin-point missles, not carpet bombing
Posted by: kingstonlad at January 25, 2007 8:56 AMKingstonlad, stay with the tour. For nuance look elsewhere.
Posted by: Crabgarss at January 25, 2007 9:00 AMWhat the hell do these dopes think they will accomplish if they go out and about with the soldiers among the Afghanis? Are they looking for a badge of courage ?
It's looking like nothing but an expensive photo-op. Who's budget is tapped for such treks?
The visits by the Prime Minister and Defense Minister is appropriate, the others are there for personal grand standing.
Posted by: Liz J at January 25, 2007 9:05 AMBorat Dion; leader of the national Kleptocratic party.
Get a damn rope!
Posted by: WL Mackenzie Redux at January 25, 2007 9:34 AMThis is symptomatic of the fact that the
LP is still deeply divided into PM (right) and JC (left) camps with the left now on the ascendant.
Very good news for the CP.
Posted by: Gord Tulk at January 25, 2007 9:42 AMHOPEFULLY Harper takes a good look at what all that Alberta cash through Turdeaus phoney transfer/quebec welfare payments has created. A bunch of lazy theives, that don't even have to cover their tracks as there is no consequences or retribution when they get caught! Why not be a thief when Alberta is stupid enough to keep filling up the cookie jar, Quebec will just keep emptying it. Whether it is adscam, bombardierscam areospacescam, olympicscam etc etc things will never change on the Quebec reservation until they are cut off welfare. I'm one Albertan who is getting damn sick of raising cattle for nothing selling wheat for nothing as these lazy slackards collect.
Posted by: bartinsky at January 25, 2007 10:01 AMdion has flipflopped on this now. Why has the Mulroney case been brought fwd again, unless it is to try to cover the liberals ass. And, what happened to Brians supporters. They left in droves and started a new party. Will the liberals do the same. The msm and lib supporters don't get that. So next campaign when libs bring up flipping on income trustes, we can counter with dions flipping on allowing crooks into party. One commentator said, it was an off the cuff answer to an unexpected question. Hey, libs, he will get a lot of unexpected questions before he ever becomes PM.
Another topic causing furor is the committee in Afgan can't go out of the green zone. So, what if the head honchos say, ok, all liberal MPs here are allowed to go on their own for the day. Hope you get back alive. And, they hit an IED or are ambushed and one or more are killed. Then listen to the liberals and press do a fast backtrack, and forgetting it was liberals that wanted to get out and about.
And, why does Arar want to go to the USA after what happened to him. Three cheers to Day for going into the lions den on this knowing what the results would be. Now Italy has got into the frey, according to the g&m. Read Greg Weston today, at least he now knows that cows don't fart.
Rhebner, what was wrong with this is that it was money stolen from the national treasury, OUR MONEY.
Posted by: WImpy Canadian at January 25, 2007 10:23 AMIf Cote wanted his librano$$$ cut and the libs said no, all Cote would have to do is infer he might feel the urge to unburden his aching conscence (libs can't spell it either) by identifying the 12 MP's who took the stolen swag.
Cote can't be convicted twice for the same crime, makes no nevermind to Cote.
Perhaps the RCMP would offer $$$omething for his troubles.
Badda Bing Badda Boom, the future last Prime Minister of Canada is forced to publicly announce what a great guy Cote really was all along, and squeeze in another place setting at the top end of the trough!
Posted by: richfisher at January 25, 2007 10:52 AMThis is great! It just made my morning way better. I woke up to the (news) and the babbling little man "Dion". Sorry, but what "hever" he said, was not understandable. I was kind of in a daze. First thought,OH MY GOD! please we can not go down this road again.....Liars, Thieves and Losers. Puppet master or should I say masters. Lib's will have to clone the little man so JC and Paulie can each have one of him on their hand........(or in their pocket)
Posted by: MaryM at January 25, 2007 11:00 AMI like it, WL.
French Citizen Dion's convictions include a new and more progressive form of democracy - kleptocracy. And hence he's grooming a minister in waiting in his shadow cabinet:
Marc-Evan Cote, the minister of kleptocratic reform.
Corrupt bastards thru and thru. They can't help themselves. Other than to our money.
Posted by: irwin daisy at January 25, 2007 11:03 AMLiberals & those $100's:
Union official arrested in coke bust
U.S. border patrol finds 136 lbs. of drug
...Mr. Holmes is also a well-known Liberal supporter, Mr. Beatty said, having backed the federal party at least since Jean Chrétien was leader. He contributed $100 to the campaign of current leader Stéphane Dion. Mr. Holmes was among several hundred people who wrote comments of support to Mr. Dion's website. The message no longer appeared on the site late yesterday, although it was available through a cached version at Google.com...

Posted by: JM at January 25, 2007 11:20 AM"There is a procedure we follow," Mr. Dion said,
Yes, the procedure involves brown paper wrapped bundles of money.
Which of course was one of the reasons for the results of the last election.
LIEberals have now evidenced, by their 'off the cuff' laissez faire attitude that corruption is a LIEberal value.
Was that a cupe union official. Hope the coke didn't come from Isreal, as he would be violating the ban. So, maybe Bedard was right in her stmts re drugs and adscam. That money had to come from somewhere. And maybe she is right is saying all her problems are the result of her testimoney.
"just as disgusted with Libarano garbage"
they werent nearly as disgusted, they still elected some , the liberals stole 300million taxpayer dollars and sprinkled it lavishly on their friends and enemies, and asked for kickbacks in return.
Posted by: cal2 at January 25, 2007 12:40 PMI'm surprised nobody ever points out the 1997 election results.The Liberal's won 155 seats,the bare minimum for a majority.
When you consider the fact that without adscam money, used in at least 12 ridings, may have swung the results to a minority, you see just how serious this scam was.
Posted by: paulsstuff at January 25, 2007 2:04 PMYesterday Stephanie talked about convictions.
Today he talks about returning Adscam Libranos.
The verbal diarrhea is just priceless.
Keep up the good work, Celine!
Posted by: Reginacon at January 25, 2007 2:32 PMi was just over at the G&M comments section,Still hot topic(Dion/Cote) Man he was blasted yesterday & today is just as good.
The liberals on the forum are in typical difuse the situation mode bringing up everything from Mulroney days, They can not accept the fact that they have been branded as Thiefs & Dion's Big slip yeaterday just reminded every honest canadian of that.
BTW: Right on Paulstuff very valid point
Remember as well, paulstuff, that the Liberal majorities, of which Chretien The Ultimate Narcissist is constantly boasting - were also won because there was no opposition. The 'right' was split into the PC and the Reform/CA.
And, Chretien's Adscam (and of course he was involved) was to get seats from the Bloc. So, Chretien was able to get seats from the ROC via the split in the right, and seats in Quebec via Adscam.
Isn;t Dion just the man about town these days. In between changing feet in his mouth he had the time to send out a pamphlet door-to-door titled "Conservatives Will Destroy the Canadian Wheat Board". Looks like the negative election campaign is starting.
In it he claims the Conservatives are threatening wheat board members, tampering with the CWB voter's list, plotting anti-CWB strategy behind closed doors, publishing specious reports, setting up a biased task force, and hurting farm families while helping corporations.
Are not most farmers incorporated these days and will independent grain marketing not be a vast financial improvement over the Liberal/Socialist CWB?
Has Dion now become NDP? Shouldn't this be Taliban Jack's speech?
Dion is Mr. Dithers re-incarnated. He is dangerously confused. First he slithers into Alberta demanding their "easy money" go to Ottawa if the tarsands emissions are not drastically controlled. Then he purports to being committed to putting the well-being of Western farmers at the centre of Cdn. agricultural policy.
I mailed my pamphlet back to his office. Surely killing trees for Liberal propaganda must be in violation of his beloved Kyoto program!
Posted by: Gypsy at January 25, 2007 4:49 PM
I just read the comments at the G&B....yikes......if harper had done this there would have been riots in the liberal streets condeming him and demanding his head!! Bloody Liberals are so hypocritical!
Posted by: Odie441 at January 25, 2007 6:14 PMrichfisher, I like the way you think. You clearly understand the players.
Another angle that occurs to me is that Cote has promised to deliver something. And the question would be what can he deliver, and from whom.
What reassurances and what bona fides would he be able to provide for the Liberal Party to hang themselves out to dry with this misstep? I agree with you that no experienced campaign manager or political operative would have let something like this occur.
Obviously, there is something behind this return. And we've all got to remember that what we see up front is just the tip of the iceberg.
Posted by: Greg in Dallas at January 25, 2007 7:00 PMWhen thinking about Liberals like Dion Cote ,Cretien,& all the rest of this political Mafia. Is a quote from Steven King's" The Stand"
There's Rats in the corn.
Posted by: Revnant Dream at January 25, 2007 7:23 PMDidn't dion state in his visit to Alberta that we needed more Group Action, and now he says/doesn't say that Cote would be welcomed back. What is the hidden agenda behind these supposed slips of the tongue.
Posted by: mary T. at January 25, 2007 7:32 PMIgnatieff must be going bonkers watching all these Dion gaffes and the Liberal party being sucked down into it's sordid past, after all Ignatieff should have been the new Liberal leaders based on first ballot grassroots support, instead of Dion who trailed Ignatieff even in Quebec grassroots support.
Dion's leadership is abysmal, and his presence is becoming quite painful to Ignatieff Liberals.
