Sing From The Hymn Book

Or face excommunication;

The Weather Channel’s most prominent climatologist is advocating that broadcast meteorologists be stripped of their scientific certification if they express skepticism about predictions of manmade catastrophic global warming. This latest call to silence skeptics follows a year (2006) in which skeptics were compared to "Holocaust Deniers" and Nuremberg-style war crimes trials were advocated by several climate alarmists.

The Weather Channel’s (TWC) Heidi Cullen, who hosts the weekly global warming program "The Climate Code," is advocating that the American Meteorological Society (AMS) revoke their "Seal of Approval" for any television weatherman who expresses skepticism that human activity is creating a climate catastrophe.

[...]

Cullen’s call for decertification of TV weatherman who do not agree with her global warming assessment follows a year (2006) in which the media, Hollywood and environmentalists tried their hardest to demonize scientific skeptics of manmade global warming. Scott Pelley, CBS News 60 Minutes correspondent, compared skeptics of global warming to "Holocaust deniers" and former Vice President turned foreign lobbyist Al Gore has repeatedly referred to skeptics as "global warming deniers."

[...]

Cullen’s call for suppressing scientific dissent comes at a time when many skeptical scientists affiliated with Universities have essentially been silenced over fears of loss of tenure and the withdrawal of research grant money. The United Nations Inner Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) process has also steadily pushed scientists away who hold inconvenient skeptical views and reject the alarmist conclusions presented in the IPCC’s summary for policymakers.

There's that "consensus" we keep hearing about.

Update - A challenge for Al Gore - declined;

Al Gore is traveling around the world telling us how we must fundamentally change our civilization due to the threat of global warming. Today he is in Denmark to disseminate this message. But if we are to embark on the costliest political project ever, maybe we should make sure it rests on solid ground. It should be based on the best facts, not just the convenient ones. This was the background for the biggest Danish newspaper, Jyllands-Posten, to set up an investigative interview with Mr. Gore. And for this, the paper thought it would be obvious to team up with Bjorn Lomborg, author of "The Skeptical Environmentalist," who has provided one of the clearest counterpoints to Mr. Gore's tune.

The interview had been scheduled for months. Mr. Gore's agent yesterday thought Gore-meets-Lomborg would be great. Yet an hour later, he came back to tell us that Bjorn Lomborg should be excluded from the interview because he's been very critical of Mr. Gore's message about global warming and has questioned Mr. Gore's evenhandedness. According to the agent, Mr. Gore only wanted to have questions about his book and documentary, and only asked by a reporter. These conditions were immediately accepted by Jyllands-Posten. Yet an hour later we received an email from the agent saying that the interview was now cancelled. What happened?

Who would have ever thought that the Weatherman would be involved in the biggest Cult the world has ever seen !!!

But, it makes, sense. Not the Kyoto Hoax, but the how the Cult came to be. All the ingredients are there though;

Take a cause, any cause, especially a 'Guilt-Trip' cause. The environment is a good one. It really works.

Find a rallying point. Doesn't have to be real, just something to hang your hat on. 'Man damaging the climate is a good one'.

Any good story needs a Vilian. Oil companies are always a good pick. Too sucessful.

It is best if it is hard to disprove. Doesn't matter if it is hard to prove also. Just ignore them. (Just like Al Gore won't respond to chalenges to debate AGW.)

Introduce a coming doom. End of the world is always a good one. Has never worked but that's ok the press likes it.

Get the media onside. That's always easy, they like blood.

Always claim the doom is coming, not quite here but coming. Gore says we have, what, 20 years?

Pick a Mesiah, anyone, A Gore or a Suzuki will do.

Saturate with propaganda. A Preacher will do but the media is better.

When others point out that all the other Hoaxes didn't end the world before, just keep saying this time it is different.

Keep changing the theme as needed. Suzuki himself did that just the other day on our own Canadian, The Weather Network. Said it is no longer 'Global Warming'. The new catch phrase is 'Climate Change". Next ace will likely be 'Climate Injustice'. Has a nice guilt ring to it.

Mix all these incredients up and stir. Be ready to be exposed, as all Cults eventualy are, and quickly go on to the next one.

THE WEATHERMAN-CLIMATE END OF WORLD CULT is better than any of the previous cult ideas.

And just think, they don't have to pass the hat around during the 'Brimstone and Fire', Mo Strong wants the United Nations to tax us all to keep his 'Religion' viable. Simply amazing !!!!

There is no way that a rational person would react this way to some healthy skepticism. This pretty much seals the deal that the folks advocating manmade global warming are making all this crap up.

I wish Harper and the Cons would just come out and say that it's a bunch of bull. They're only giving these morons credibility. Mind you, Harper may be gaining votes in Eastern Canada with this crap but it's just making me agree more and more with the Western separatists.

I for one am sick of this BS and no longer support a union with Canada. This Albertan wants out and I will be doing my best to promote the New Republic of Alberta. Let the eastern bastards freeze in the dark! To hell with the latte socialists of eastern Canada!

Dr. Chris de Freitas, as respected climatologist from the University of Auckland stated several years ago that Kyotoism was a substitute for religion. It was just a joke at the time.

Now the doomsday clock has been cranked closer to midnight. Non-believers are compared to nazis. The MSM is flooded with stories connecting every adverse weather event to global warming. McCarthyesque jihads to professionally ostracize dissenters are being organized.

When will scientists like Dr. de Freitas and Dr. Tim Ball (a brilliant and engaging man) become the targets of academic witch hunts and smear campaigns?

Posted by: John Brown at January 18, 2007 1:35 AM

Greg, I saw that on the CBC news earlier this evening. I was almost surprised when right away the evil spectre of global warming and greenhouse gasses was raised. I even heard someone on the radio connecting the cold weather in California with global warming saying that AGW was causing "volatility" in the climate. We could have 1000meters of glacier in Calgary and they would say it's from AGW.

Anyway, I feel like all the people willing to work for a living should start up their own country (much like in Atlas Shrugged) and leave all the Cling ons to their own devices.

The claim to so-called "scientific consensus" is a fallacious argument. It is, in essence, "argumentum ad populum" -- somethng must be true because many people believe it to be true.

There was a time when the majority of leading minds overwhelmingly believed the Sun orbited the Earth. That didn't make it so, as illustrated by the case of Galileo.

More importantly, science is not a democracy, and cares not a bit for "consensus" -- which, on this issue, doesn't actually exist. Objective reality manifests itself regardless of popular approval.

From this, it follows: Those who seek to ostracise anyone that dares contradict their cherished beliefs, must clearly be more concerned with the popularity of those beliefs, than the truthfulness of those beliefs.

Posted by: rg at January 18, 2007 1:42 AM

This ramping up of eco doom mongering is not surprising. The post 60's radical leftism that has infected the west has enjoyed an unchallenged monopoly on their anti establishmentary rhetoric through 4 decades of favorable treatment in the media (ably assisted by friends in the judiciary).

With the growth of alternative media (mainly the net)gross factual misrepresentations and outright propaganda can now be challenged and exposed and disseminated immediately to a global audience (with links as backup).

Like any bully loudmouth who is challenged, the response is not to agree that his position has been invalidated, but to escalate his arguement with personal attacks, threats and innuendo.

Bad in that it polarizes in the short term, but good in that over time the radicals expose themselves for what they are via their ever more shrill and strident attacks which accelerate their already quickly diminishing credibility.(please see Dan Rather and CBS for recent example of ideology first damn the facts)

We (non leftist idealogues) just need a little more representation in the MSM. My wish is that we get Fox in Canada with Conrad Black as the host of Fox News Sunday Canada.

Please define Centrist. In June of 1999 the then Majority Liberal government of Jean Chretien pushed through a vote in Parliament supporting the definition of marriage as between one man and one woman. That is the position of most MPs in the current Conservative government (and many Libs). Were you calling Mr. Chretien insane at the time?

Libs ratified Kyoto in 2002 and then proceeded to do nothing about it, increasing emissions by 35% under their watch. Insane? I agree!

I think you stumbled across the wrong board. Globe and Mail comment section is about 180 degrees to the left of here. Quantum, please clarify how it is that an intelligent, moral, and honest leader will become the laughingstock of Canada. The liberals have been lead by a frenchman with a flower and a penchant for giving westerners the finger and running the country and Alberta into the ground, a 2 month dud, a thieving cretin that could speak neither french or english, an heir to the throne that could barely decide which socks to wear without consulting the polls, and now a hippie elitist snob, that also can barely speak english.

The only common denominator among them all is that they all came from Quebec and had a firm belief that they were entitled to spend other peoples money as they saw fit.

It would seem to me that the only laughingstock will be the rubes that continued to vote for these thieving morons.

Not to worry, we will not forget he was appointed to cabinet and the privy council without being elected or appointed to the senate, we will not forget he can't speak english, we will not forget he has dual citizenship, we will not forget adscam, corruption, theft. And, we will not forget he is Chretains puppet.
Some of his shadow cabinet has been named, and I see he must have heard from Sask voters as Goodale is still there. It is too bad for the liberal war room, and great for the conservative war room that every attack they were planning can be turned against dion, as he did it first. They can't say anything about Fortier. The liberal senate, by blocking most bills, has shown the public that PMSH war right when he said it needed to be reformed, and if he mentions it next election voters will pay attention.
As for the comments in the g&m, there seems to be more and more published that are anti-dion, mostly by non subscribers. History will be kind to Harper, but martin and chretain will be shown for the corrupt politicians they were/are, and PET will be vilified for what he did to Canada.

It was my misfortune to catch Jim Travers on Don Newman's Politics last night (usually no time or inclination to watch Don but when you're stuck in bed with a nasty respiratory bug...).

He made the inane comment that Prime Minister Stephen Harper is "a one-man band" as a precursor to a slight of PMSH and his government.

Gosh, Mr. Travers, IF PMSH is a one-man band, he's a Superman and doing a damned good job. Who would have thought that ONE MAN could run, so well, a country as complex and fu**ed up as Canada? But he's doing it, is he, Jim Travers? 'Backhanded compliment, if you ask me.

On the other hand, what a stupid thing to say. PMSH is a very effective leader, that's all. He's got discipline in his Caucus and actually knows how to delegate. It's just that his Cabinet and Caucus members don't go running to "their buddies" in the MSM, the way the Libs did, and Jim Travers and co. are miffed.

Well, too bad, Jimbo. You're no longer on the inside track and it's galling, isn't it?

Boy, I'd love to see Suzuki exposed as the charlatan Snake Oil salesman he is. The CTV has one thing right: On their Web site, they bill Suzuki as "an environmentalist, journalist, and author." They haven't billed him as "a scientist," and they're his friends.

I don't think Suzuki's done any real science in years. He's Johnny One-Note and the note's going flat.

It seems "cool" for every reporter, newscaster, weather "guru", AND politician (including the CPC unfortunately) to equate ANY weather to the fact that "something is happening".

If there is an ice storm in Florida or California and the oranges freeze - blame Climate Change (don't mention the fact that citrus growers have been dealing with "freezing" temperatures on and off for as long as I can remember. It seems every few years we see news pictures of them wrapping their trees and using fans to keep the frost away - BUT now its climate change????)

If there is warm weather in Toronto on Xmas - blame Climate Change (not to mention that here in Alberta - probably half of the winters in the last decade have had either no snow or above zero temps on xmas day - I remember one xmas in the 90's when the kids were outside in their t-shirts playing in the sand box - this year we have about 3 ft of snow but because Eastern Canada was warm - Climate Change)

The west coast gets some wind storms and some trees blow down in Vancouver (things that the north central USA has dealt with in most El Nino Years - it comes a little north and voila - Climate Change) Wonder how many trees get knocked down in any major wind storm in any given year in any part of the world. But according to Kevin Newman - "this is evidence that something is happening???"

Even the Blizzard that the prairies last week was used as evidence that "the weird weather continues" - Imagine - a Blizzard - on the prairies - in January.

Yep - Climate Change is upon us!!! Global Warming is here - we should start to see it's effects in - oh - about April!!!

Rain, Freezing rain, Sunshine, Wind, Snow, Clouds, Ice - all are used by the Cult leaders to point to the obvious - the Climate is Changing - Follow us or else.......

In the 1990's Y2K was going "wipe out the entire financial network, planes will fall from the sky when their computers fail and people will freeze to death in their homes when the power grid shuts down".

In the 1980's it was; " by the year 2000 everyone will either have AIDS or someone in their family will!"

And when I was in elementary school in the 1970's ( I feel so old typing that ) it was; "Global Cooling, caused by man made CO2, is going to bring on the next Ice Age!"

Fear mongering, nothing more.

But cleaning up the enviroment and resorting to cleaner fuels - like wind and nuclear power - is a good thing.

It's interesting that the socialist types, the anti-science types, are involved in two rather similar doomsday cults.

One is global warming, taken up as an apocalyptic cult of imminent doom, rejecting science logic and reason, based on cult leaders, focused on faith and emotion rather than reason and facts, defining dissent as heresy, insisting on absolute obedience.

The other is Islamic fascism, also an apocalyptic cult of imminent doom, also rejecting science, logic and reason, also based on cult leaders, also focused on faith and emotion rather than reason and facts, defining dissent as heresy, insisting on absolute obedience.

What is interesting is that the two apocalpytic cults seem to have an affinity for each other. The left supports the Taliban and defines terrorism as the 'result of the imperialist guilty actions of the capitalist industrial west'.

The left supports global warming, and defines it as 'the result of the imperialist guilty actions of the capitalist industrial west'.

The point is - global warming is critiqued in many scientific reports as bunk. Importantly, although care of the environment is important, environmental knowledge and care is never short term and mechanically simple but long term, and complex.

At the more subtle spiritual level it is a case of mass hypnosis causing the population to abandon sound science and reasoning for hysterical politicized junk science.

A "climatological apostate"?

Well whose going to be our saviour now?

Well I've always favoured the time honoured version of Divine Providence.

Thus far, for the last 5 generations, it was more likely that governments were going to put us in the grave, than the climate ever was. Why on earth would I start believing these two bit hucksters with their apocalyptic clap trap.

If I want to read about the Apocalypse I can consult the book of Revelations.

Well God help us, because these climatological doom sayers sure aren't.

Given the last three dumps of snow in Lotusland of Greater Vancouver, the danger of global warming is overstated to say the least.

The old standard of nuclear apocalypse has at least solid scientific basis like releasing the power of the sun to a balmy 10-100 million degrees C. And at least its all over in a flash, rather than a long lingering global warming like a frog in a warming pot of water.

I mean if your going to play harum scarum, at least put the 'fear of God' into everybody.

Of course this might cast into question the notion of responsible government, but then the last couple of centuries of 'human development' haven't been exactly awe inspiring.

The time honoured version of Divine Providence is still more appealing than the current lot of nonsense.

And BTW what is the penalty for being a 'climatological apostate'?

Obviously, China doesn't believe in climate change seeing as they are reportedly planning some 525 coal fired plants around their country.

Anything we do is cancelled or superceded by the Chinese GHG planned outputs. But I forgot the Chinese governments are atheists and so don't believe in either God or Climate change.

So, a la Front Page Challenge, will the real terrorists please stand up!

Thus we conclude that the Chinese are climatological and human rights terrorists; while the Islamo-fascists are your garden variety terrorists.

Fewer particulates in the atmosphere means more solar energy on the surface. Particulates from? Human activity, of course. Volcanoes, of course. What does science tell us about the transmissiveness of our atmosphere over the last few decades?

Our efforts to reduce air pollution have resulted in clearer skies. More solar energy. Global warming.

Kyoto says...China, Russia and India, (and the developing world) should be allowed to increase their emissions.

Kyoto says...the western industrial nations, should cut their emissions and pay fees to allow the developing nations to increase theirs.

The western media, says without the wests complete submittal to Kyoto,
the planet is doomed....doomed I tell ya.

Well ah...
Is there a climate change problem or not?

China, Russia and India seem to disagree.
Building all those new power plants, says to me...What climate problem!

They don't seem too concerned about any climate change problem at all...

Their only concern seems to be ..who is going to pay for all those power plants, now that Harper has cut 12 billion out of the Kyoto (gravy train) pipeline.
What a scam the socialists had cooking....

Why is this climate change problem, linked to our cutting emissions, but the rest of the world can increase theirs?

One more time...is there a climate change problem or not???

It seems the Kyoto environmentalists have a major credibility problem.
Just asking.

That will help erase scandal from the liberal scene, isn't he the guy being sued for 900M for refusing to allow someone into Canada, another Arar in the making. At least dion has his wish for equal opportunity, a former liberal female is being sued along with him.
Look at who he appoints, as JVD says, this is what the cabinet will look like if dion wins.
Why doesn't dion ever mention the word liberal or liberal party. Must be ashamed of it. Also notice the media seldom uses those words, just dion. Wont work with the public, we remember liberals are corrupt, and we will continue to link the word dion=liberal.

Words cannot express the outrage I have knowing that the MSM will NEVER ask the questions that need to be asked about Y2Kyoto. The fact that the 500 odd coal fired plants to be built in Uncle Mo's/Paul Martin's adopted country of China will effectively cancel out any emissions reductions implemented by the west. This needs to be SCREAMED from the rooftops. But all you will hear is the do-gooders of the First Church of Climatology spew thier junk science. Alberta is bad, so tax her. Conservatives/big business is bad, so tax them into submission.

Funny how no one ever did an energy audit as to how much Jet-B gets burned schlepping the likes of Al (Captain Ozone) Gore and the furry little gnome Suzuki around their respective countries preaching how bad the rest of us are for owning a Chevy Trailblazer or a John Deere diesel powered combine. Does no one see the irony here?

#$%&-ing left-lib double standard is alive and well. Hang onto your wallets fellow Albertans/Right thinkers. Should that Iraq Osamma....er...Barrack Obamma character ever get the keys to the Lincoln bedroom that will spell the beginning of the end. How much you want to bet he names either Al Gore or Oprah Whinfrey as a running mate?

Step one is to keep the likes of Stepahane Dion/Power Corp. away from 24 Sussex. The next is to expose the MSM as what they are: shills for the lunatic left-lib establishment of nepotism and brown paper bag payoffs. Step 3: sell off the CBC and destroy any evidence of it ever existing (like the Avro Arrow, except this time there's good reason to destroy everything).

Scotland has made it illegal for a teacher to challenge global warming, they are now forced to teach it as fact. On the other hand, Washington state has ruled that if a school is to show Al Gore's movie, they must present opposing views.

The envirofascists are already attempting to strip scientists of their degrees. Others are losing their jobs. What will they attempt next? Death by listening to Al Gore?

It seems the rest of us, and I believe it's the majority, are being forced to become just as militant, if not more. Imagine a civil war over the environment, started by these leftard limp wrists? Like 'Quantuum Liberal!,' oh boy, supercharged, and his French Citizen surrender monkey leader.

Well the "scientific community" didn't believe in it back then. Outside of a magazine article or two you wouldn't have heard nary a peep about it back then. Its largely being referred to now purely as a talking point.

"What's that? Oranges froze in California? I thought global WARMING implied a RISE in temperature...."

Well we still have this thingy called "Winter" which is still expected to occur once a year.

Posted by: Jose at January 18, 2007 11:50 AM

The fight continues. Apparently, the producer of Al Gore's movie on 'global warming' has tried to get the US National Science Teacher's Association to send its members free DVDs of Gore's tutorial on climate change. The NSTA is refusing. So far.

Activists are trying to smear NSTA, saying that it has ties to 'Exxon Mobil', a company, they say that "has spent millions misinforming the public about global warming". heh - I thought it was Al Gore who has done that.

It's in Science, Vol 314, Dec 8/06. Another tidbit in that same issue, is that about 55 million years ago, the earth experienced a phase of warming that lasted about 170,000 years - and coincided or led to massive biological responses, including the appearance of modern types of mammals. And of course, there were phases of cooling within the longer warming phase.

The basic reality is that the climate changes. Constantly. Humans are hardly the basic or sole cause - and I think we must differentiate the very real problems of pollution from climate change.

Too cold for malaria? The Great White North isn’t too cold for malaria!
But maybe things were warmer them. It's not part of my life's personal observations, which is what most people seem to be judging their beliefs on.

“malaria was in Ontario both before and after the building of the Rideau Canal.”

“During the time of construction of the Rideau it was referred to a "Lake Fever" or "Swamp Fever".

Excerpt from "Three Years In Canada" by John MacTaggart, 1829.

"Canada has a large, share of disease, like most other countries: it is not so very fine and healthy, as has been reported---
This is the most prevalent disorder: sometimes it proves fatal, but not generally so by any means. It leaves, however, dregs of various kinds behind it, which often end in dropsies, consumptions, &c. Those who have had it once will most likely have a touch of it every year.”

Well, looky here Jose. Same hype, scientific experts, and fear-mongering words and phrases. WE'RE DOOMED!

You really need to acquire a modicum of information/evidence before posting your dumb-ass opinion.

------------------------------

The Cooling World – Newsweek April 28, 1975 (excerpts)

There are ominous signs that the earth’s weather patterns have begun to change dramatically and that these changes may portend a drastic decline in food production – with serious political implications for just about every nation on earth.

The evidence in support of these predictions has now begun to accumulate so massively that meteorologists are hard pressed to keep up with it. In England farmers have seen their growing season decline by about two weeks since 1950.

Last April, in the most devastating outbreak of tornadoes ever recorded, 148 twisters killed more than 300 people and caused half a billion dollars’ worth of damage in thirteen U.S. states.

To scientists, these seemingly disparate incidents represent the advance signs of fundamental changes in the world’s weather. The central fact is that after three quarters of a century of extraordinarily mild conditions, the earth’s climate seems to be cooling down.

If the climate change is as profound as some of the pessimists fear, the resulting famines could be catastrophic. “A major climatic change would force economic and social adjustments on a worldwide scale,” warns a recent report by the National Academy of Sciences…

A survey completed last year by Dr. Murray Mitchell of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reveals a drop of half a degree in average ground temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere between 1945 and 1968. According to George Kukla of Columbia University, satellite photos indicated a sudden, large increase in Northern Hemisphere snow cover in the winter of 1971-72. And a study released last month by two NOAA scientists notes that the amount of sunshine reaching the ground in the continental U.S. diminished by 1.3 per cent between 1964 and 1972.

Reid Bryson of the University of Wisconsin points out that the earth’s average temperature during the great Ice Ages was only about 7 degrees lower than during its warmest eras – and that the present decline has taken the planet about a sixth of the way toward the Ice Age average.

The longer the planners delay, the more difficult will they find it to cope with climatic change once the results become grim reality.

Wasn't Suzuki charged with poaching for once catching a salmon out of season? I've heard this before. It was also rumoured that he cried like a baby while the RCMP wrote him up.....maybe this is just folklore/wishful thinking on my part! Just kidding! (Fear of litigation disclaimer-hey the dude may have Kinsella on retainer, I'm not going to risk Kate's good name!)

Anyone catch the Rutherford show last year when Dave had Suzuki on as a guest? Rutherford kept pestering him with the "why should we listen to you regarding the environment, isn't your expertise in fruit flies/genetics?" Finally Suzuki had to admit "hey man, I'm just going by what other people tell me". I could almost picture him sparking up his bong while he tucked in the hand sewn hemp shirt tail which came dislodged as he reached down to strike the match on the sole of his "Columbia" hiking boot.

It was a great moment in Canadian broadcasting history, but the tumbleweeds danced slowly across the deserted street in the warm prairie wind.....a quintessential "tree falling in the forest" moment.

A Quantum Liberal wrote: "P.S. Is SSM or the LPC's CC policy really how you define a lefty?"

Quantum and Jose are quintessential examples of liberal/left 'wishful thinking'. The rest of us live with reality as it is, while they mold their reality into what they wish it would be.

Example? Since Quantum raised the issue of SSM, let me point out the Ontario Supreme Court judge who recently ruled that a child can have three parents, as shown on his birth certificate. This is clearly a case of trying to get reality to conform to ones personal beliefs. Unless biology has changed recently, you can still have only one spermatozoa and one ovum create a new human being - hence, only two biological parents, regardless of their personal living arrangements.

The judge found that the 'feelings' of the non-biological parent and the 'nurturing' of the child, trumped the physical reality of conception. And liberals are good with that - bend, twist and re-invent the biological imperative - after all its' simply an inconvenient truth.

C'mon, Jose. It doesn't become a feature article in Newsweek until it becomes the defacto belief of the age. Newsweek and other mainstream media are not leaders, they are followers who trumpet what is already widely the prevailing wisdom. Newsweek was not a 'one off' article - it was simply an earlier iteration of what we're seeing today. Same coin. Different side.

Liberals. As Jack Nicholson so famously said, "You can't handle the truth!"

I watched a program on PBS last night, China from the inside, that dealt with the Chinese environment. They were showing shots of Beijing and other cities and the massive smog, as well as the unbelievable water pollution. I commented to a family member that, under Kyoto, these are the people we'd be buying carbon credits from, as they were clever enough not to sign onto Kyoto.

The scope of the pollution was unbelievable. One village was shown in which the cancer rate would be expected to be 1/1000. Instead, it was 1/100!

Supposedly they are trying to address the situation, but how much of what was shown is party propaganda for the foreign devils?

A recent issue of Bicyling magazine has a feature on the Flying Pigeon, a 40# Chinese bike which was at one time the major form of transportation for the masses. And now, with the rise of the middle class, bikes are seen as what the poor ride and owning a car proves that you've "made it" as well as giving you freedom/mobility. Just like North Americans. Think they've got smog problems in California? Wait until you get all those gazillion Chinese in SUVs. Kyoto indeed.

It's revisionist history pure and simple. Does anyone here that is old enough to remember the 70s (I am) actually remember an impending Ice Age theory that dominated the "scientific community"?

I think what we have developing here is a faith based on a Religion of Environmental nature worship.

Whose foundations are humanistic socialism with faith In a nebulous force called Nature .Whom they must bow before with sacrifices made by the wasters ( Read tax paying citizens, certainly not Suzuki & his class of leftists. Indeed they will suck in the loot for themselves aligned with there political masters.). To appease the Global warming Mother Goddess while plundering our wallets . The tenants of this faith based ideology are the idea that man is both the cancer of the planet, as well as the grand despoilers. The gross egotism to imagine creatures like us changing a whole biosphere, is an unconscionable form of vanity. If not a complete break with realism. We are only mortal , not gods. Nor can we fix a whole planet or kill one. Life always triumphs.

Fact is the real pollution is killing us in our cities. Water tables poisoned, air pollution & chemical overkill. None alone or in tandem could never destroy the entire Earth. This is what where doing bad & its fixable. Has been in the US & many other Countries without the bag men with ad agencies. Making C02 a vital component of our atmosphere into an instigator, shows them for what they really are . Snake oil salesmen, lower than a snake in a wagon rut.

Now we have the Jimmy Swaggart of environazis David Suzuki, & his fellow asylum inmates. Trying to thump up an inquisition in the name of holy science. There version anyway. Against any perceived violation of there computer models , sanctioned in unreason. To totally discredit any who are unbelievers. This is not science. Its Faith!!!

Where are the free speech lefties decrying this cattle call? I see no outrage at going after other scientists, because of a group with a fanatics agenda mixed without divide a religious favor with bogus stats. That wants to persecute anyone who challenges them. Shut them up entirely by revoking credentials . All for our & the Earth s good of course. This is not the scientific method, its pure dogma devoid of facts, based in assumption with faulty computer models. A con game like Y2K.

Frankly its becoming sickening watching these charlatans pimping there love lorn odes to the Mother Goddess. I find it as repugnant in different ways, as the Jihadists trying to force there beliefs on us. As destructive you can be sure. Only this group claims to be above criticism, with the right to reproach those that disagree with them. If not destroy there livelihood, lives or work.

It has truly become sordid. Considering this will violate our economy, while suckling our enemies, by giving them money to pollute forever. To build their industry while we dismantle ours. What pray tell happens if these folks decide to attack us when we have weakened this polity with these delusions?. Oh I forgot all but Anglos, or Europeans, are monstrous imperialists with bloody hands made in a benign world of other who only desire peace. Yeah right!!!

More Socialist suicide hogwash. The real beneficiaries will be China , Dictators, Mo Strong & the Jihadists. As well as those compromised scientific institutions, who will along with the corrupt liberals, plunder us into a new age of there making & greed.

Just my opinion

Revenant said: "Read tax paying citizens, certainly not Suzuki & his class of leftists. Indeed they will suck in the loot for themselves..."

Too true, Rev. In parallel to the idea of GW/CC and Islam being the two new pets of the left, I have often thought that the left falls conspicuously into two camps. Those who 'lead', believe that any blow they might inflict on the economy won't affect them personally. They'll go on being the darlings of the idiotarian universe, shilling and collecting their speaking fees.

The other is the 'follower'. Those who so often are either unwilling or unable to compete in the game of life. Forever envious. Forever doomed. They don't care so much that they haven't succeed in the material world, so long as they see that the wealth creators are hobbled.

In Islam, it's the immams, mullahs and radicalized young preachers of the Wahhabi schools who exhort others to die. (ALERT: if you haven't seen the six part Britain CH4 documentary: Dispatches-Undercover Mosque, do so immediately at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5t5EqWX92k&eurl=) This is part 3 of 6.

She now has posted "I've read all your comments saying I want to silence meteorologists who are skeptical of the science of global warming. That is not true. Your right to identify religious elements in the environmental movement, they've always been there. It's worth noting that the AGW didn't come from them although some of them have certainly jumped on the bandwagon.

There's also magical thinking on the other side of the argument. Basicaly christian dominionism, the same people who still don't grok evolution. Not exactly titans of rationality either. So if you're looking to side that's devoid of adherents whose thinking is devoid of religion I'm afraid there isn't one.

Randy, I call the imams that exhort others to commit suicide in the service of Allah (i.e. them) Chickenmartyrs. If it's a muslim's duty to die for Allah, then what are they waiting for?

Gee what happened to A Quantum Liberal?

When truth is told it seems the lying liberanos either scream loader or disappear.

Both Drudge and Rush had comments on this today.
Rush really takes off on algore for not doing an interview. Don't let truth get in the way of facts.

I can't see much difference between the modern environmental activist and the muslim extremist.

Both live in fantasy worlds ruled with fear and hate but having little real substance that withstands critical scrutiny. They are viciously intolerant of differing viewpoints and seek to silence opposition. Lies and dirty tricks are just and necessary tools of the trade. Total control of everyone's daily existence is their ultimate goal.

Any wonder why lefty moonbats don't push hard on questions regarding Islamic radical behaviour? Maybe they already understand each other too well.

Jose
The difference being is the Church of Global Warming and the those that don't believe evolution is that the anti-evolutionists want to change a curriculum your church wants to collapse the world economy. I am sure Darwin would see the irony here as your church uses similar tactics he faced which is false data and hysteria to prove the Global warming Gods exists, even going as far a exiling those that don't "believe" in its doctrine. Good grief you Lefties are so idiotic and delusional they think you can pass off Jeffrey Dahmer as Mister Rodgers to the rest.

Jose, I have a small correction to your last post.

Re: 'people who still don't grok evolution'...

It should read, 'people who still don't grok the theory of evolution'

There is no missing link. There is no proof a species can evolve into a different species.

Like all leftoids, Jose doesn't grok anything. It's worthless debating him.

Posted by: irwin daisy at January 19, 2007 12:47 PM

On cue with the adhomimen. If I were to be as stupid as you consistently claim then refuting me should be easy. Insult isn't the rebuttal of choice of the more intelligent side of the argument.

Posted by: Jose at January 19, 2007 12:57 PM

Look at the photo on Drudge of the woman/animal found in jungle. That is the future if the wackos get their way.

Posted by: mary T. at January 19, 2007 4:53 PM

You been refuted over and over. You just don't comprehend that fact. Claro?

Posted by: irwin daisy at January 19, 2007 6:07 PM

Insult isn't the rebuttal of choice of the more intelligent side of the argument.

No Jose, intelligent discourse invovles deleting comments that oppose your view for which you cannot pose a rational rebuttal, or self promotional sock pupetry, any doubts visit glenn greenwalds site.

Hass jou all bin good 'lil veder commissars...hass jou tolt your state-issued lies today?

TWC....The Weather Commies

Boycotting this slime ball isn't good enough...now I'm writing to TWC sponsors and telling them I will boycott their products until they cut the weather soviets ( climate nazis) loose.

Gawd what IS it with this snow bound backwater that every broadcaster has to get on the utopian axe grinding trend?

Why is it that the most cockamamie media Mensheviks think Canadians are fair game for the latest lefty delirium?

Quotes from ANS certified meteorologist James Span:

"I do not know of a single TV meteorologist who buys into the man-made global warming hype. I know there must be a few out there, but I can’t find them. Here are the basic facts you need to know:

*Billions of dollars of grant money is flowing into the pockets of those on the man-made global warming bandwagon. No man-made global warming, the money dries up. This is big money, make no mistake about it. Always follow the money trail and it tells a story. Even the lady at “The Weather Channel” probably gets paid good money for a prime time show on climate change. No man-made global warming, no show, and no salary. Nothing wrong with making money at all, but when money becomes the motivation for a scientific conclusion, then we have a problem. For many, global warming is a big cash grab.

*The climate of this planet has been changing since God put the planet here. It will always change, and the warming in the last 10 years is not much difference than the warming we saw in the 1930s and other decades. And, lets not forget we are at the end of the ice age in which ice covered most of North America and Northern Europe.

If you don’t like to listen to me, find another meteorologist with no tie to grant money for research on the subject. I would not listen to anyone that is a politician, a journalist, or someone in science who is generating revenue from this issue."

These people, predictably, are applauding the weather bunny's "spunky" attitude:

Here's what I've learned about the anti global-warming position over the last couple of days:

1)Heidi Cullen can't be a real scientist, because her statements are backed by peer-reviewed science found in thousands of articles in dozens of scientific journals, rather than on the half-assed wisdom that one finds while sitting on barstool in a sportsbar;

2)Global Warming is a myth because God is in control of everything, and your personal salvation is all that matters (no, I'm serious. I'm not making this one up. It's actually a comment in one of Heidi's recent blog entries);

3)Cullen is wrong because she fails to take into account planetary alignment, gamma ray bursts, sunspots, and the atmosphere on the moon and on Mars (again, I wish I was joking, but this is a serious comment);

4)We can't know what temperatures actually were a hundred years ago because they didn't have flush toilets (ibid.)

5)Global warming is a conspiracy formulated by Hollywood, ecoterrorists, and the Democratic party;

6)All global warming research is really being funded by George Soros as a nefarious way of forcing us to spend money to fight off a disaster that isn't really going to happen. (Not really sure why anyone would go to the trouble of creating a conspiracy that doesn't do anything other than cause us to use wind power and drive hybrid vehicles. Oh well...).

Mostly what I've learned from visiting countless websites in which people who are not scientists get to run their mouths about global warming is that Americans are roughly as scientifically literate as African Bushmen. I've learned that people seem mystified by the fact that warmer weather and changes in climate patterns leads to heavy snowfall in places like...oh, say, Malibu. People are equally mystified that on average, Antartica gets colder in some spots than it is in others. Apparently, these people are also utterly flummoxed by the fact that South Carolina is currently 50 degrees colder than it was six months ago, as geography and seasons are unknown concepts to those who know the "real scoop" from listening to Rush Limbaugh. Remember, Rush is glad that Republicans lost this election cycle because he "no longer has to carry water" for people he didn't agree with originally. For those who may not quite grasp that, Rush admitted a couple months ago that he routinely lies to you. Maybe it's time to find a new prophet.
