A Petition

Goes horribly wrong.

Update - it appears the elf is still angry! The signatures of a good many people appear to have been "line voided". Good thing I saved the source code (most of it, anyway) for posterity!

My favourite was from page 4;

"120. Jean Chretien Quebec Jason Cherniak? Are you trying for a Senate position so soon in your young life. Goood for you."

Why? Oh why do they mock me so?

Posted by: Jason Cherniak at January 6, 2007 1:45 AM

If it is so evil for Belinda to defect, why can the Conservatives now accept this defector?

If the Conservative Party believes that MP must serve under the party they were elected under, then there must be a by-election.

Posted by: ltr at January 6, 2007 1:51 AM

We now return you to our show, already in progress:

Columbo: Now, you say you linked to this thinking it was legitimate, is that right?

Cate: Yes. I was painting a portrait of a moonbat, very rare in Saskatchewan, don't you know, when I came across it on the internet. Well, I just knew I had to write all my friends about it.

Columbo: Uh-huh. Uh-huh. I see. Well, I think that's it. Thank you for your time Ms. Deceece-Rodento.

Cate: Good day to you sir!

Columbo: Oh, you know, just one more thing... so you really believe that a petition created by a lefty liberal, who then apparently didn't tell any of his friends about it, or blog about it, and is apparently the only one who signed it and didn't mock it, and was then signed by about 150 others mocking it, that strikes you as not-fiction. Is that correct ma'am?

Columbo: Well, you've painted a really pretty picture for me Miss Deceece-Rodento. Real pretty. Good day to you.

This petition is truly one of the funniest things I have read in a long, long time.

Posted by: jlc at January 6, 2007 2:14 AM

This is the most fun I've had in ages....

I love that petition, who told everyone about it, and where are all the liberals? Too funny! Petition gone wrong for sure, if your a liberal.

That petition was the funniest thing I have read in a long time, thanks for the link.

The petition was legit, and linked to at Cherniak's blog (still is, as of this evening).

Posted by: Kate at January 6, 2007 2:49 AM

"If it is so evil for Belinda to defect, why can the Conservatives now accept this defector?"

Belinda: defected so that the Liberals could avoid a vote of non-confidence, rewarded with a brand-new position in Cabinet.

Khan: has been working with the Conservatives since August as a consultant on the middle east, defection is rewarded with a backbench seat in the government.

See the difference?

Posted by: Ed Minchau at January 6, 2007 3:03 AM

It would be nice if this petition actually made it to the Libranos Party Office .....

:))

Posted by: Joe Canuck at January 6, 2007 3:08 AM

Great fun reading this petition. Did any media interview BS, Scott, Keith or others on this today. Wonder what they think, and what could or would they say that would be believed by non liberals. Was taliban jack on tv with any comments. At least Kwan looked honest and sincere in the press conference.

Posted by: mary T. at January 6, 2007 3:39 AM

Even a Wood Spider from Alberta (#30) managed to sign the petition.

Posted by: JM at January 6, 2007 7:15 AM

what is blowing my mind is some of the racist comments coming from some of the libranos....reminds me of the apec conference when some libranos were making intolerant remarks about the robe PMSH(traditional asian outfit)wore in the phot-op...so in the big picture, who is truly the racist bigots?????libranos win hands down....hypocrites

Posted by: kingstonlad at January 6, 2007 8:20 AM

that is not even mentioning the hatred some libranos have of jews and Israel.....to side with extremist terrorists over the only functioning democracy in the ME...that is some deep-rooted bigotry they carry...

Posted by: kingstonlad at January 6, 2007 8:25 AM

it will be agreat pleasure to campaign against these bigots in the next election...everyone keep on message while on the doorsteps.....LIBRANOS ARE BIGOTS!!!! and I am not making this up!

Posted by: kingstonlad at January 6, 2007 8:27 AM

Nice crybaby comment on Cherniak's site, about those BAAAD non-libs highjacking his precious petition! It would be a great idea for him to put petition up every Fri...talk about cheap, and really funny entertainment! I must say,my fav.comments on petition had to be from Jason's Mom!

Posted by: Sammy at January 6, 2007 8:43 AM

Heard from the Liberal war room in a lair beneath Ottawa: "All your ethnics are belong to us! Khaaahhhn!" LOL

Posted by: Mike at January 6, 2007 8:58 AM

Ed M...the likes of ltr will 'see' the difference, but they won't be able to understand and accept the whole concept. They don't want to.

Posted by: Vicki at January 6, 2007 8:59 AM

Thanks for the laugh, Kate! This is better than the Saturday morning comics!

Posted by: Joanne (TB) at January 6, 2007 9:22 AM

Cherniak or someone has erased all those hillarious signatures, I hope someone captured this, it would be great fun to use it to whack him whenever he sticks his head up.

Posted by: Grithater at January 6, 2007 9:48 AM

Now that the good signatures are deleted, there are maybe a dozen 'legit' ones left. That makes the raspberry/outrage ratio about 20 to 1. Sounds about right. The legit Lib blogs are saying 'it sucks for us, let's forget about it, and move on' or tones to that effect.

Posted by: Spicy Doc at January 6, 2007 10:00 AM

Even more hilarious are two signatures he has not line voided; that of Jason Currynak and Jamil Hussein.

Posted by: muttsrus at January 6, 2007 10:18 AM

I just went over there and couldn't get the 211 signatures to view. And I got a message my signature was waiting for approval from the moderators. What's wrong with my signature? Are they racist against people with square pants?

Anyway, thanks for saving the code, Kate. Canada is way more fun now that everyone takes part in those petitions.

Muttsrus, there are two more (obviously fake) signatures that he missed voiding: Mike Oxlong and Hugh Jardon. (For those who don't get it, say the names out loud)

Posted by: Ed Minchau at January 6, 2007 11:27 AM

That Ba$tard Cherniak had the nerve to delete my signature from the petition! And we're still all out of virgins.

chreniak that s.o.b. deleted my fatwa, I know where the bodies are hidden.

Posted by: green helmet guy at January 6, 2007 12:00 PM

To funny! Most all of the signatures have be deleted or waiting for approval. What a joke, if your going to run a poll, you had better be prepaid for the results! (Either way!)

I'm Back: The Waj's deflection

This post marks my 200th entry since I began blogging in June of 2006. ... Needless to say I am pooped but I couldn't help but start checking out the blogosphere.

Here is what I have to say about Wajid Khans recent deflection:

1. While I am sad to see Wajid Khan cross the floor, I disagree with Jason Cherniak -- NOBODY should be protesting outside of Dufferin Mazda.

2. As for Jason's call for the Waj's resignation, isn't this futile given the impending election? Not too mention costly? How can we as Liberals call for this when our own MP's did not really support Bill C-251? I do howver support the MP floor crossing prohibition in principle.

3. The Tories deliberate choice to keep the Waj in his role as Special Advisor for the Middle East and South Asia was pretty smart as it preempted any accusations that he was enticed over to the Tories. ...-

Posted by: maz2 at January 6, 2007 12:31 PM

Someone call a search party.
I think I just swallowed up a moonbat blogger.

Posted by: The Great Void at January 6, 2007 12:39 PM

I just checked the petition again and almost all of it has been voided. Looks to me like someone doesnt like having the truth from the people being let out of the bag. HAHAHAHA

Posted by: FREE at January 6, 2007 12:49 PM

I must admit some of those signatures may not be fake considering the way the Liberals have been behaving lately.

But trying to hide the evidence by deleting it shows Jason's true 'progressive' colors.

No wonder Jack Layton is looking over his shoulder at the edge of the abyss wondering where all his 'progressives' went after he gave labor the heave ho.

Posted by: Mark-Alan Whittle at January 6, 2007 12:54 PM

Ok, now Canadian politics has me totally confused. Since when did Ricardo Montalban get elected to Parliament? And why are you guys keeping him on the back bench? Something against Mexican-Americans?

See Star Trek reference by Mike above.

Posted by: Bill. D. Cat at January 6, 2007 1:15 PM

Cherniaks whole blog is hypocritical. If you try and post something derogatory against the libs he won't accept it.

I guess he likes that "false" sense of security one gets from only preaching to the converted.

Kind of minor league of him. He could have gained a liitle respect for himself by playing along or at least admitting he screwed the pooch. Ah well, a liberal lawyer who studied ethics, what do you expect.

Posted by: rebarbarian at January 6, 2007 1:58 PM

Too funny. I always enjoy it when Liberals demonstrate publicly what a bunch of losers they are. They have NOTHING to contribute to this country and will always look at it as their own personal cash cow to be raped and pillaged at their leisure.

To all the losers that continue to contribute to the destruction of this country by voting for these criminals...Please wake up and start learning a little bit about what makes a country strong and free.

Cherniak gives the world a lesson on how to humiliate yourself in public. One of the few signatures remaining says it all:

"213. Arthur Denbigh Ottawa, ON Void all the lines you want. You'll still look pathetic, and you'll still have lost this round."

Posted by: lberia at January 6, 2007 2:36 PM

well I signed on line #231, "as mo moe moo strongo" along with an invite to the next Stampede in Cow Town, it seems there's no pleasing the Liberals these days.
There's only a couple names remaining on this poll... dunno why...
I hope Mr.Dion chooses his female candidates better than this.

Posted by: marc in calgary at January 6, 2007 2:45 PM

I'm just glad he's not my defense lawyer.

Posted by: Ace at January 6, 2007 2:58 PM

Poor old Cherniak is upset, boo hoo, that on his petition "...the Tories created so many fake signatures so quickly that it is now meaningless." And, further, he's "Glad to know that they are so scared of seeing what people really think."

I'd like to remind Jason that "the Tories," especially the signaTories to his petition, are people and that we are capable of thinking--that is, "really" thinking. And that given so few LPC supporters showed up to sign his petition (too entitled and lazy?), it would seem that, in fact, the people have spoken.

Just because Cherniak doesn't like what the people have said doesn't mean he can disregard it. But JC falls back on the usual Liberal lament about an unexpected and unpleasant outcome:

"The Tories are to blame!" LOL!!

Hang it up, Jason.

Posted by: 'been around the block at January 6, 2007 3:11 PM

Hey "line voided" am I next? Am I in Liberal purgatory?

BTW it's a ballot, not a ballet.

Also, not every lawyer got "A"'s in law camp; something needs to be done with the bottom of every class. Think about it. Not that being a top-academic guarantees you a life, either.

I heard that Don Messer from Sackville signed, "The Jig's Up" [from his latest LP]. Jason needs to listen ro this 100 times, with his shoes nailed to the floor. That'll fix 'im, maybe.

How slow is Jason Cherniak? Here are the phoney names he left up at the petition thinking that they were legit:

9. jamil hussein missisaga,ontario

36. Jason Currynak Ottawa, Ontario We've got to stop those people and their smelly convention cooking!

76. juke khedive newtown, mb Isn't i funny when people accuse harper of "flaunting" something when they really mean he's "flouting". Either way, they're wrong. [This may be a legit one, but it's so illiterate that it's difficult to tell!]

95. Hugh Jardon Red Deer, Alberta I'm laughing at your superior intellect, Stephane.

96. Mike Oxlong Blackfalds, Alberta Brilliant!!!!!!Good move, boys!!!Bravo!!! [legit???]

151. Bill Smith Edmonton, Alberta ha ha ha ... all of the crooks ... oops ... politicians ... should go to hell [Sounds like someone who doesn't like any politicians and not like a loyal, Liberal lapdog.]

213. Arthur Denbigh Ottawa, ON Void all the lines you want. You'll still look pathetic, and you'll still have lost this round.

I agree, it's totally hilarious. Good-on for Kate, and loads of sympathy (again) for the hapless Jason.

But one point: Why are we letting Cherniak get away with doctoring a petition, survey, poll, whatever? Deleting all entries that are not in agreement with his position is extremely offensive. And another example of "Liberal Values", of course.

Posted by: Erik Sorenson at January 7, 2007 11:50 AM

"Liberal Values" isnt that an oxymoron?

Posted by: FREE at January 7, 2007 12:52 PM

Liberals are calling upon Citoyen Dion to resign.

Libs are calling upon Citoyen to give up his French citizenship, or resign.

Commenter Spinks is right in doubting that only three Canadians are calling upon Dion to give up his French citizenship.

It's time to choose, Citizen Dion; Canada or France. Choose one. ...-

At 6:10 PM, Spinks said...

Add me to Dennis and Ezra too Susan for my reasons listed above. I doubt we're the only three in Canada who think our Prime Minister should only have a Canadian citizenship. This is about pride in one's country. If Monsieur Dion becomes PM, there will always be questions about how much pride he has in Canada when he's a citizen of another country at the same time. He would be wise to make the attempt to ditch the French citizenship or if it means that much to him, reconsider running for Prime Minister. ...-

Well, here it is early on Jan 9th and, if my counting was correct, a grand and humungous total of 32 non-stricken signatures remain at the petition, out of the 247 entries.

I'm not that great in math, but doesn't this work out ot only one person in a million in Canada giving a rat's posterior about Cherniak's petition and the issue?

Quite a few clowns short of a circus, I'd say.

Posted by: Erik Sorenson at January 9, 2007 1:14 AM

There is another petition here:

http://www.petitiononline.com/khanout/

Posted by: Condor at January 9, 2007 5:03 PM

From the new petition:
69. Jason Cherniak Glad this petition is working properly!

I guess a simpleton wasn't organising this one. Still, it's #69--maybe it is a prank signature after all?

P.S. I've forgotten the man's name already, sorry that I was in a rush, sir, but he claims he's a Conservative (or was that Progressive Conservative?) and he's organized the petition because he's against all such floor-crossing. That's something that I don't mind, but I wonder how many of its signatories demanded that their Liberal MP vote in favour of making changes to floor-crossing or were they this upset over Scott and B.S. etc.? And until a law is passed against it, that would undoubtedly require alot of Grits to vote for it, then we're just living by the rules the Grits played by and continue to support. (BTW, I didn't bother to see if it was properly organized with only one name from one server etc. being allowed to ensure that it is a legitimately-conducted petition but if the gentleman really is a Conservative acting out of conviction, I'm sure that it is.)
