Via Dust My Broom;
The B.C. Teachers Federation and its president, Jinny Sims, are suing Google Inc. over allegedly defamatory comments and images posted on a blog hosted by Google.A statement of claim filed in B.C. Supreme Court says the defamation by two unnamed contributors or authors on the blog at “bcpolyblog.blogspot.com” occurred between April 5 and June 28 this year. The remarks on the blog, which is devoted to commentary on B.C. politics, are “false and untrue,” says the court document.
In the statement of claim filed in B.C. Supreme Court, Sims indicates she "...did not kidnap beloved Sesame Street character Big Bird and threaten to kill him/her in response to the Functional Skills Assessment test."

Sims is a commie scumbag that is doing everything in her power to set herself up as the next leader of the NDP.
Posted by: FREE at October 30, 2006 9:16 PMROFL! Oh wait, Sims is serious?
Posted by: Schwarze Tulpe at October 30, 2006 9:26 PMI can almost hear the lawyers requesting damages for the plaintiff (little finger to side of mouth, palm facing out) "Your Honor, we request damages in the amount of .....one million dollars".
I don't know which is more funny...the blog...or the idea of a lawsuit?! Bwaaaaa...hahahahahahahah!
Posted by: Citizen Wilson at October 30, 2006 9:36 PM"kill him/her"?
Big Bird should sue Sims for implying that he's transsexual.
Posted by: surly at October 30, 2006 9:48 PMSue Google?
That's a good idea! While they are at it why don't they go challenge the heavy weight boxing champion of the world to a bout, they stand about the same odds.
I think someone is going to get a bit of a rough education in the legal system ...
Posted by: NoOne at October 30, 2006 10:09 PMIn a related story, there is rumblings on the street that the letter N along with the letters D and P are about to launch a suit of thier own. They claim that they are being linked together, without thier permission, to a group of brainless twits and have suffered humiliation on a daily basis for years.
Posted by: wallyj at October 30, 2006 10:21 PMHilarious. LOLOL.
If true, it would appear that Big Bird is more grounded in reality than Sims.
LOLOL
The 3 Rs for lefties,

Brison poses for nude calendar
the honourable member says his support is shrinking.
Posted by: cal2 at October 30, 2006 10:51 PMLast year when I bought a (girlie) nude calender, my wife wouldn't talk to me for a month.
For year 2007, I've ordered six of them. :)

PolyBlog is one of the funniest blogs on the net if you are familiar with BC politics.
Meanwhile the eNDP and the BCTF have run "Gordo" webpages full of libel for years and no-one sued anyone because it would be an assinine idea. Good thing the CCP is dead or I'm sure they'd be in on this.
Posted by: langmann at October 30, 2006 11:28 PMYou want surreal?
This must be what Jack Layton was babbling on about when
he told Canadians there was a fourth rei... I mean, a third way.
I thought only in Ontario the teachers hated children... How naive I was!
Posted by: Aaron at October 31, 2006 8:22 AMHow come these raging lunatic teachers' union presidents are always fat, ugly feminazis? Probably lesbians, too.
I guess non-fat, not-ugly women with husbands and children who they love don't have time for union politics.
The fat, ugly fembos count on this.

Greek blog aggregation service administrator jailed, service censored
arcanumas writes to tell us that Greek authorities have raided the house of Antonis Tsipropoulos, administrator of the blog aggregation site Blogme.gr. His hard drive was seized and he was arrested. The impetus was a satiric website, not named in the stories, that apparently offended a Greek public figure (also unnamed). The site in question was not hosted by Tsipropoulos but was merely linked to by his RSS fed.
...
In his e-mail, Mr. Tsipropoulos wrote: "This is the first time ever that a search engine - a site collecting information on the web - has been associated with the content of a web log and sued for it. Never before has an offended individual in a democratic country resorted to a lawsuit of this kind till this very day, with the exception of repressive regimes.

Posted by: Graham at October 31, 2006 10:00 AMSo is Greece a democracy or a dictatorship?
The search engine owner was sued - a sign of democracy?
But he was promptly arrested and jailed - a sign of dictatorship?
Oh, how I am divided!

While the thought of Scott Brison doing a calendar shoot gives me the creeps, I have to applaud him for supporting the cause. I will be purchasing my 2007 copy of BreastofCanada instead. Same good cause and some good moving photography.
The Teacher's Union action on the other hand, gives a whole new meaning to the term "Boobs". Although suing big bird is a wee bit better use of union fees than supporting hezbola.
Posted by: Texas Canuck at October 31, 2006 11:01 AMI think this adds to the mountain range of compelling evidence that leftism is a mental disorder.
If one cannot see that something is plainly so silly and humorous that the reasonable person will instantly see it as such and not take it seriously at all, then there is something wrong in the head of the complainant.
I guess Google's gonna also get sued for what I just said about same individual... I just wonder where the complainant is going to get the money to fight such a huge, powerful giant in court... I think she's just producing more liberal hot air and will soon realize that she's making a big fool of herself, that she wasn't defamed at all.
Leftists, eh?

Posted by: qwerty at October 31, 2006 6:29 PMOh come now. This is not a serious story. Lighten up. It's a joke.
Posted by: dirtman at October 31, 2006 11:32 PMDirtman, I thought it was a joke too, but it's been reported in one of the local papers here, and it's not exactly a tabloid, either. The article is reproduced in the link's comments.

Posted by: little girl at November 8, 2006 8:48 PMYou're right, you don't spell very well. Your grammar is horrible, too.
Perhaps you should spend less time on the internet, and more time studying. And have your parents call your teacher - because someone isn't doing their job.
