Hillarious and that's certainly how I see The Slimes. Well done.

Posted by: nomdenet at August 22, 2006 10:51 AM

This is classic, I'm still laughing.

Posted by: JDot at August 22, 2006 11:14 AM

I laughed thinking about those 'wingnuts' who only saw Kofi WITHOUT his crown and scepter.

Posted by: Nemo2 at August 22, 2006 11:33 AM

I still think I make better use of falafel nuggets than those terrorists.

Posted by: Bill O'Reilly at August 22, 2006 11:46 AM

Heh. Love it.

Posted by: Warwick at August 22, 2006 11:55 AM

Canadian Observer: "Very funny, and and like all good comedy, based mostly in truth.

Um, the truth is based on what right wingers perceive, not about the NYT's alleged agenda. The author wasn't laughing "with" you. Like the distortion of liberal thought presented on sites like this daily, this shows how conservatives view the NYT presented ad absurdium. And yet, some of you are confirming the absurd! I guess it's like Archie Bunker - most laugh at his ridiculous ideas, but some laugh with him because they concur.

Posted by: Jonesy at August 22, 2006 12:28 PM

That is funny. I can't decide if I like the Kofi get-up ( throw a robe on him and he could pass for Queen Adrienne) or the Micheal Moore - communion side dish.

The arts & dining photos are a nice touch too.

Know what's really funny?

This site is actually PARODYING the right-wing looney world view, and the right-wing loonies are all lining up to say, "Yeah, yeah! I agree! That's me! Funny!"

Good thing they're not too bright.

Posted by: frank at August 22, 2006 12:47 PM

Jonesy-
Thanks for pointing out the author's intent, it was so subtle many of us stupid conservatives couldn't figure that out. Many thanks for clarifying that, yet after your explanation I still find it funny.

Posted by: KVB at August 22, 2006 12:49 PM

Parody isn't easily recognized around here, as we've seen before. I'm sure Kate recognized it, but nobody else wants to concede that lefties can be funny once in a while.

Posted by: Jonesy at August 22, 2006 12:51 PM

I recognized it!! (Then again, English is my first language).

Posted by: Nemo2 at August 22, 2006 12:59 PM

Lefties are funny until they are in control. Then there terror oops terrifying.

Posted by: FREE at August 22, 2006 1:00 PM

You are a sad man Frank. If you can't laugh at yourself you ain't got nothing except a mean spirit. Why do you think comics are so successfull? How about press gallery dinners and roasts? Even G.W.B. has a great sense of humour, usually at his own expense. Get a life.

Posted by: Cheri at August 22, 2006 1:14 PM

It is fair to say that both the left & right have reason to be be amused. Those on the left for the perceived extremism (accurate) of some conservatives, and the right has reason to laugh (correctly) that the NYTimes consistently, yet subtly, promotes its liberal bias with its news portrayals.

Posted by: gwilz2000 at August 22, 2006 1:14 PM

"... nobody else wants to concede that lefties can be funny once in a while."

I must admit, there's truth in that. I tend to think of them as pedantic, condescending and obtuse. jonesy, don't take that personally, unless you feel you should.

Posted by: earl trossachs at August 22, 2006 1:43 PM

Lefties are always funny.

Unfortunately, it's not the humourous kind of funny. It's more the "..eww, these leftovers smell kinda funny" variety.

Posted by: Pd at August 22, 2006 2:55 PM

The'truth'I was referring to was the left/right biases most of us have as well as those we are often unfairly accused of having. As always, this bit demonstrates 'tis the left whose reflex is to attack others while never honestly looking at themselves.

To be honest myself, the only times I imagine libs laughing is when they are counting misappropriated money or votes gained through lies and fear-mongering. :)

Posted by: Canadian Observer at August 22, 2006 3:01 PM

Canadian Observer,

Here's another scenario lefties find pretty funny:

1) Web designer does mock-up page to say: Look how retarded the right-wing world view is!

2) Right-wing reaction: "LOL! That's EXACTLY what I think!"

Posted by: frank at August 22, 2006 3:24 PM

frank, jonesy, what is even more funny is how pissed off you are that conservatives can laugh at themselves. You're upset that there is no blustering outrage and legal fuming. That's how lefties react and you expect this blog to react in the same vein. In fact, you think you need to "explain" it in order to illicit some sort of negative reaction. And now you find that you're actually having to provide all of the self-righteous indignation for us.

But, hey, like I've always said, "stick with what you're good at."

Posted by: Ham at August 22, 2006 3:53 PM

frank,
Thank you for doing such a bang-up job of proving my last point.
We appreciate it'a a good parody of conservatives often suspecting the absolute worst in the MSM.That's why it was good.
You clearly show us,once again, that most lefties can only laugh at the expense of others....sad really.

Posted by: Canadian Observer at August 22, 2006 4:01 PM

It really is sad. Truthfully the only thing I feel for you is pity Frank. WE get it. You don't.

Posted by: Cheri at August 22, 2006 4:10 PM

Well said Ham.

Posted by: Cheri at August 22, 2006 4:12 PM

I'm not pissed off at all, Ham.

"That's how lefties react..."

No generalizations here, though. :-)

Posted by: Jonesy at August 22, 2006 4:27 PM

If the generalization fits, wear it.

Posted by: rebarbarian at August 22, 2006 4:56 PM

So, just to clarify,
A) we nutters got that it was a parody.
B) we still thought it was pretty hilarious, because
C) we have a sense of humor.
That is all.

Posted by: Meg Q at August 22, 2006 5:03 PM

(I mean, how could it be otherwise, it's on the HuffPo? Unless it's Greg Gutfield . . .)

Posted by: Meg Q at August 22, 2006 5:04 PM

Or Michael Smerconish. Or Alan Dershowitz on some issues. More diversity there than at Powerline or LGF.

Posted by: Jonesy at August 22, 2006 5:11 PM

You're right, jonesy. I meant "That's how YOU lefties react..."

pissed off...irritated, annoyed, mildly itchy...something made you feel obligated to try and point out that we "right"-minded people should be pissed off, irritated, annoyed, mildly itchy, even after you S-P-E-L-L-E-D it out.

Is a well-rounded sense of humour with a touch of self-deprecation so uncommon in your world?

Posted by: Ham at August 22, 2006 5:39 PM

No, Ham...I think you're misinterpreting the rationale for their response. I take it as an inbred response of a leftie to look to the nannie state to tell them when to laugh and what to laugh at...they think we need that, too.

Posted by: Hassle at August 22, 2006 5:44 PM

We lefties laugh at ourselves too - it's a fine and timeless pastime.

But why do THAT when you can laugh at neo-cons instead?

You guys provide sooo much material to work with, today being a case in point!

Posted by: frank at August 22, 2006 6:24 PM

Well we provide you with "sooo much material", & you supply us with such well-reasoned thought! We thought it's the least we could do in return for you tutelage!

Posted by: KVB at August 22, 2006 6:51 PM

Feel free to laugh, contrary to your first impression I wasn't being serious.

Posted by: KVB at August 22, 2006 6:52 PM

If you think there's no self-effacing humour on the left, you must never have listened to Garrison Keillor.

Posted by: Jonesy at August 22, 2006 10:38 PM

The New York Sewer still cant tell the trust i mean this paper is like the horns of a steer A POINT HERE A POINT THERE AND A LOT OF BULL IN BETWEEN
