It is well known that Hezbollah is a proxy financed wholly by the Iranian dictatorship. Likewise, Hamas is a proxy of Syria.

As has been noted elsewhere, isn't it interesting that the Hezbollah attack into Israel and kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers happens the very day after Iran stiff arms the EU's peaceful nuclear energy deal?

What this Hezbollah action is is an Iranian move to further insulate their nuclear weapons program from any US action.

In the big global picture, my opinion is that the Global War on Terror cannot be won without taking out the Iranian dictatorship.

Conversely, leaving this regime in power guarantees their eventual possession of nuclear weapons, an outcome that is absolutely against the interests of the entire world, ESPECIALLY INCLUDING the Iranian people.

I like that, despite everything else that's going on, one Israeli blogger still blogs her cat.

Iran wants nuclear weapons because Israel has nuclear weapons.

Must be a lot of rich people here wanting to pay 10 bucks a litre for gas, 20 a lb for hamburger.

Wait until they start handing out food stamps for your families weekly rations, maybe then you'll understand War alittle better.

"Iran wants nuclear weapons because Israel has nuclear weapons."

So, neutralsam, you're saying you think that's just fine, fair's fair? If so, you are seriously deranged.

Iran would want nukes regardless of what Israel has. It's any homicidal dictator's wet dream. Nukes in the hands of tyrants, particularly nutcase tyrants, like Ahmadinejad and Kim Jong Il, is a very scary situation. There's no equivalence whatever, NONE, with Israel's possession of them.

It's long past time to neutralize any nuke capability Iran and NK do possess.

I thought that I'd share a few quotes:

"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to ight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself".

-John Stuart Mill (from 'On Liberty')

"It is useless for sheep to pass resolutions in favor of vegetarianism while wolves remain of a different opinion."

-Inge's Axiom

"Pacifists are among the most immoral of men - they make no distinction between aggression and defense. Therefore, pacifism is one of the greatest allies an aggressor can have."

-Patrick Henry

You've got it CanForce. Thanks for the quotes.

Hamilton, Ontario, Canada: The Spectator reprints a story from The Economist.

The words which could identify the source of the hideous evil are missing. Those words are: Islam and Islamist.

The Economist says the hideous evil is "new". No, the evil is as old as Islam: 1,400 years, an old evil.

As I said in an earlier post, several well-placed cruise missiles targeting the present government of Tehran may give the moderates an opportunity to govern. No involvement, very short term.

Some others and I get the feeling we are in time warp of history reliving living the 1936 era and Hitler’s rise to power. Admittedly different but that same Chamberlainic appeasement mentality from Europe and the rest of the Left-eren world. The United States has made conventional warfare almost obsolete in the respect that no one can compete with them and the only way the terrorists can compete is through terror. I say lets play their game with our own kind of terror, whereby their leaders can travel no where for fear of assassination, destroy their national means of financial support, in this case oil, destroy their infrastructure, power/ water etc. When the majority of the people in these countries have had enough they will bring down their own governments, such as they are, and with none of ours being in harms way. Israel seems to be heading that way so I guess we can just wait and watch.

And one more thought, screw Europe, they seem to be real slow learners and past history means nothing.

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (CP) - Canadian and other coalition troops are conducting a massive assault operation in southern Afghanistan.

The combined ground and air assault began early this morning in the Sangin district of Helmand province, west of Kandahar.

That's where a Canadian soldier was killed in late March and an Afghan police and military outpost was attacked just two days ago.

Canadian coalition spokesman Major Scott Lundy says 10 Taliban have been killed as the operation continues.

Intelligence sources suggest as many as 400 Taliban could be in the area, but have so far eluded coalition forces.

Military officials say this is the biggest operation Canadians have been involved with since moving into the Kandahar region in February, even if it wasn't the bloodiest.

The joint Canadian-American-British mission is also the largest combat operation of its kind since the Korean War, and includes 600 Canadians and nearly half of the 10-thousand coalition fighting forces currently in Afghanistan.

The Iran Brief ^ | 1/12/2000 | none cited
12 January 2000 According to the Times (London), North Korea agrees to supply technology and equipment to aid Iran in upgrading the C802 anti-shipping and cruise missiles it purchased from China in the early 1990s and deployed on French and Chinese-built missile boats in the Persian Gulf and in coastal batteries. China has promised the United States several times to stop deliveries of the C802 to Iran, but U.S. intelligence reports last year documented deliveries by China far in excess of what has publicly been reported. The C802s were assembled in Iran under a co-producing agreement signed with Communist China,...

OK, I say it openly. When (not if) Islamic terror strikes China, I will not shed a tear. They have definitely brought that s**t on themselves.

And the Russians are also playing games with the Mullahs. So next time a Chechen terror rid strikes Moscow, sorry, f***-you Russia, you brought it on yourselves too.

After 9/11 there's just no more excuse for this s**t.

Gotta love the blogosphere. Reading the mideast bloggers reminds us that there's always so many more layers to any situation in the ME than westerners are typically aware of. And the MSM carries on with the situational awareness of a referee in TV wrestling, and about as much credibility.

CanForce 101,

A small quibble:

While you gotta love that J.S. Mill quote "War is an ugly thing .....", it's not from "On Liberty".
